The idea being that from the man's point of view, it would seem the last thing you seebefore death is Nixon (like a grim reaper/angel). Then later March falls off a high rise building into a pool, hallucinating Nixon in the water which freaks him out thinking he was near death.

I wonder why this movie wasn’t received better!! every time I see someone talking about it from the last couple of years it’s always positive. it’s so hilarious, it’s fun, the characters have such great depth without beating you over the head with details about them, it’s just so well done. I know it’ll go down as a cult classic but I wish it had been an instant hit so that we could have gotten a sequel! also, Angourie Rice?? such a genius for how young she was. really wish we could see more of her as Holly!!! we need a second movie set in the 80s :’(

I missed most of them the first time but besides the scene in the car there's some radio broadcasts about the 70s californian africanized bee scare. It's something that's in the back of March's brain the whole movie, and the swatting scene is the only payoff it gets. It's amazing
