St. Spyrodon's analogy of the pottry shard was miraculous. The Saint spoke the outline of the Creed from the heart at the meeting of the ecumenical council 9:41

2:22, that's so true brother, the only reason we Christians believe that there is only one God is because it is revealed to us in the Scriptures!

Very explained and well said!! At times if someone is going to challenge me for my religious beliefs as a sincere practicing Catholic Christian. Well here’s what I do. I recite the Nicene Creed and the Apostles Creed and I do it with my Holy Rosary.

The Creed you recite is different than the Orthodox Creed.

Well it's more than logical, we just have to accept the Holy Mystery of God, we can never fully comprehend it I guess with our human mind. It's like to ask somebody to explain you the entire Universe, and God is even beyond that so there we go...
@nickdixon81154 жыл бұрын
Why dont we use the apostles creed too? I mean it says the same thing the nicene creed says Except the harrowing of hell And we believe in thst too.

The trend became to standardise and coalesce around one statement of beliefs, rather than the variety that had previously existed. This standardisation is one of the focus' in Fr Andrew's talk on baptism in the early Church - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXe8nWd8g8p0r9E (especially from 55:20).

So a bunch of religious leaders who were in the business of teaching others about God didn't know about God and got together for some groupthink and voted on what God is. I don't think I would be playing up this Creed if you want to keep your business model intact. Pretty shaky ground you are on in fact shady as hell!!
@hmao4466 Жыл бұрын
I would certainly place more faith in the Church Fathers than in your commentary. The Creed is central to Orthodox belief. The opposite of shaky.
@Strutingeagle Жыл бұрын
@@hmao4466 Well since Gods word wasn't clear enough on the subject requiring a vote by the religious leaders, it is just about all church has to go on. I seem to have less faith in my fellow man than you do. The idea of voting truth into existence is pretty shaky.
@MrWesford Жыл бұрын
@@StrutingeagleThey didn’t vote Truth into existence. They simply clarified what they had already believed. They made explicit what was implicit. They were guided by The Holy Spirit into All Truth. So, the ground is, in fact, not shaky at all, but is the most stable ground you’ll find in the universe.

@@Strutingeagle Hey, I find your views interesting. I'm curious, what are your beliefs?
@Strutingeagle11 ай бұрын
My beliefs are as fragile as that of everyone else. I don't put any truth claim on it and have zero evidence. I can only operate on what I see around me and what does and doesn't make sense and rely on what God tells me. No, not in a dream or communication with God or Angels. God gives us moral compass built in and it boils down to Love your neighbor and the Golden Rule. The authors of Genesis may have been onto something with the issue of good and evil. We live in a wonderful world where we experience good things. At the same time we experience physical and moral evil. The experience is necessary to know good and evil, not just believe it exists. Knowledge is quite different than beliefs. If we are fledgling beings, we may be grateful at some point and see the experience of evil as one of the greatest gifts given to us. This is hard to comprehend while our loved ones die of accidents and diseases and we watch our own bodies degrade over time and feel the pains of the process. I don't go along with the folks that say God commanded his people to do evil deeds to their neighbors and it was good because God is good and who can question God. I also don't think Satan is out to get us when we question the bible, the stories in the bible, and the characters in the bible. Same with other religions, in that one has to question them rather than take another mans word representing God. I doubt the God that created the world, protein folding and DNA, did so with the desire for worship and conditional love. The bible for the most part was written by men at a time when genocide, slavery, misogyny, warfare, blood sacrifice, and a bunch of other bad stuff was considered good and necessary. The authors put a bunch of evil things in Gods mouth with the bible and then to top it off threatens anyone that does not go along with it will be punished. I will wait to hear from God about what he wants but in the meantime we are all going to continue doing what he wants now by experiencing good and evil. @@twaho
