What a beautiful tribute to two brilliant performers. Their charm and talent was so evident, and they were never headliners or even supporting actors in a film. Imagine what heights they would reach today! Congratulations to Fayard's son and granddaughters and their continued legacy of amazing dance.

The Nicholas Brothers were ... and still are ... fabulous. They brighten any film they appear in. TCM often plays a wonderful 1936 short, "The Black Network", released when Fayard was 22 and Harold was 15. Despite their youth, they were already a professional and polished pair of entertainers. Ironically, their contributions were often detached from the rest of the rest of the films they appeared in so that their sequences could be cut out in the South. The end effect was to make their sequences stand out, especially in an otherwise lackluster film. Undeniably unique and supremely talented performers!

Shocking and should be restored. What a talented and totally amazing gift to humanity this family is!

Oh, I see the restoration perhaps did pop the sequences to stand out on the film!! Nothing like reading through.

I loved seeing them dance in "The Pirate", alongside Gene Kelly. What a show! I still have yet to see them in another film. They were super talented dancers. It seemed that even Gene, with all his talents and athleticism, needed to keep up with them. Not many performers can upstage the star. It is so nice to hear that their legacy continues.
@fhr3313 жыл бұрын
Even more impressive when you consider that it was Kelley's choreography.
@intheory97723 жыл бұрын
@@fhr331 Indeed! If my memory serves me correctly, Gene and Judy fought tirelessly against the studio to include them in this film. Gene was very impressed by the brothers skills. Kelley's dance in the town square with all the extras and all the use of props, and especially the carousel, has to be a highlight of this film, for me anyways.
