Wonderful! Pascal is a man after my own heart. He studies all the guys that you can't study in university-Gurdjieff, Osho, Trungpa, Lee Lozowich, Adi Da, Shri Aurobindo, etc-all the actual overman and crazy wisdom teachers, which Nietzsche prophetically longed for. Glad that he is nudging the more traditional Hegelian philosopher Dr. Last in the right direction:)

Tremendous-I am grateful whenever you have a discussion with Pascal, who I have come to love listening to and learning from. I like the idea of Nietzsche as a gym we need to return to, and I agree we must be hungry when we learn: “disinterestedness” perhaps has a place in law, but I question it in scholarship. In fact, I hardly remember anything from books that didn’t light a fire in me. I also agree that Nietzsche demands we “return to the body,” that Nietzsche tests us to see if we can stay focused on the concepts of his work, and completely agree that rereading is more important than reading-beautifully said. The distinction between “aloneness vs loneliness” was great, as was the idea that neighbors help us escape loneliness while friends help us embrace our aloneness. The talk also got me wondering if “becoming” versus “being” is possible without antagonism, obstacles, etc.-I’m inclined to say “no,” suggesting that Nietzsche is right to embrace these challenges. Lastly, I think Layman’s three takes on the Eternal Recurrence were excellent, as was the entire exchange.
