Still one of my favorite live performances ever. I always come back to this video occasionally because I think this performance is the best these songs have ever sounded. Better than the album versions.

@@cartman42069 yeah, unfortunately the album versions of these songs kind of lost their power and pizzazz. The drums sound loud and powerful, and the guitar is heavy in the mix… the album version seems to have both of these turned down which makes the vibe of the music feel totally different imo.

@@lovesgibson right. maybe that's intentional? maybe martin wants the studio versions to be more retro 80s vibes like songs of the weeknd, lany, the 1975 etc. idk.. but i wish american nights had an alternate version released which sounds closer to the live arrangement

Really is it's a real musical growth granted I loved boys like girls back in 2006 but it's very difficult to go back to that first album now you can tell martin was putting on that early 2000s emo Naisly voice I think he has found his real voice with this new project

Yeah the singer isn't a nobody lol. He's been in the music industry for over a decade. He was the singer for boyslikegirls and he's produced songs for lots of famous artists. I was surprised that he didn't already personally know john mayer

it's been 6 years, and I still revisit this video. We've since gotten 2 night game albums, and a boys like girls album that's a spiritual third, with a fourth on the way. I feel so lucky to have been able to see the night game live when they were a band, but I'm even more grateful that new music keeps coming over half a decade later. The BLG boys even still break out The Outfield from time to time

I saw them as an opener for John Mayer last weekend and wow they where so bad, like awful. They are a bad the killers rip off, they had no idea how to balance their instruments and they where just doing the most the whole time
