Thank you for signing a copy of your CD for my friend that was hospitalized and unable to attend your performance last Saturday at The 1905 (Portland). He is at home recovering. Not being able to get up there yet to hand him the CD, so I shared this video with him. “Very smooth and sultry “ was his reply. This song of the album is absolutely wonderful !

This was beautiful! A masterclass both in composition and execution. The amount of emotion you can get from a curved tube of metal is breathtaking. I will certainly be listening to this one a lot.

It's actually more of a cone shape than a tube. Wouldn't want people thinking a sax is a clarinet or flute or something 🤣

@@GraceKellyMusic In addition to my being very impressed with your talents as a singer-musician-dancer etc….I must also compliment you on your smile & personality and the way you communicate with others. (Including the reading & responding to these KZbin comments. ) I am so happy that you REALLY ENJOY doing what you do. It shows !!!! And THAT MAKES ME HAPPY TOO !!!! Your abilities remind me of another talented performer….NATALIE COLE. I was her FIRST agent during her “UMASS DAZE”. She was insecure about her singing. Upon graduation and a year of bookings, I asked her what was next on her agenda. She said she was going back to college in September to get her degree in child psychology. I WAS STUNNED!!!! “NO-NO-NO-NO ….NO! You are a SINGER!!!! Not a head healer. “But my Mom just spent $20,000 on my education. I can’t do that to her. “ No-no ! You’re a SINGER ! I will get you bookings all summer long. Decide in September if you really want to be a head doctor. BUT, YOU HAVE TO TALK WITH YOUR MOTHER FIRST ! Two weeks later “we-three” all meet with an agent/friend, and sign for a bunch of club-dates. “And the rest is HER-STORY.” c20-23inkRWBEE Dick Booth

I watched with both eyes open. THEN again, with both eyes shut. On replay 3, I saw three tall windows ever so bright. For replay four, I closed my doors and closed my eyes, and with both ears wide open, I felt a dream, then felt the sway, I felt the dance, the prance, the inter-lude & enter-dude. Oh-oh-oh-oh oh--oh-oh-ohhh. Let's hear Grace, again & again. c20-23inkRWBEE

Why does this alto sax feel so low? Anyways great tune!
@olaflangness2907 Жыл бұрын
This low sound was not done through recording methods. I have heard her do this on another song in a live small venue setting. In interviews she has indicated that she has only owned a few mouthpieces and alto saxophones since she started playing. Mostly does everything with a common Vandoren mouthpiece, some #2 reeds and a bronze lacquered Yamaha. So it is not really selection of gear. What I did pick up on in interviews, who she adored as a student, and practiced to sound like, were people that did have beautiful intonation in the lower register (Johnny Hodges, Stan Getz, Paul Desmond). The “modern” sound (since the late 80s) has put a lot of emphasis on altissimo notes played at a feverish pace. I think that has conditioned us to expect alto saxophone music to be thin or devoid of lower notes. Just my opinions and conjectures.

I like your singing voice, not crazy about your horn.
