The Night Visiting Song - Live in the @dublinunitarianchurch
Back in November I had the honour of performing at a beautiful remembrance service in the Dublin Unitarian Church. As part of the service I performed a version of The Night Visiting Song with accompaniment from my shruti box, Dylan and Eoin on fiddle, Ed on the banjo and Peter on the guitar.
This version is very inspired by @aoifescottmusic although Luke Kelly's in the first version I fell in love with.
Night Visiting songs mostly refer to the practise of bundling. This custom was to allow a courting couple to be bedded together with sacks tied round their waists to prevent complete consummation of their love, although presumably what could be tied could also be untied! The night visiting songs common to the whole of Northern Europe were a celebration of this practice.

Luke Kelly mad this song a lot of Scottish songs was collect by Luke in the early years be fore the Dubliners were formed it’s grate to hear them. The Irish tried to claim them .
