If we take what we know of Charlie's life from the show, his uncle Jack is the Nightman who slept in Charlie's room, his mom is the troll whom Jack rented Charlie's room from, the waitress is the Princess, and Charlie is the Boy/Dayman. People have performed this musical to propose. And it worked for people who aren't Charlie Kelly.

The "Little Boy" stuff is part of the original original Nightman song that Charlie writes and gets kicked out of Mac and Frank's band (Pecan Sandies/Chemical Toilet). It is interpreted by the gang as Charlie admitting to being molested (by his Uncle Jack). Weird that they didn't understand what the musical was all about? It was not just a "random" play.... It was charlie's biography. He wanted the waitress to know who he truly was - hoping it would change her mind about him. But basically what happened was.... Charlie was repeatedly raped as a child and the troll (who is probably his uncle Jack), pimped him out to several johns. He finally broke free of that abuse and that's when he became "a man". The dayman won against the nightman (in a figurative sense ) who represents his problematic past and depression.
