Joker has three things going against him, 1) He is a foreigner 2) He is white 3) He is a center. The last one is particular to Shaq. He doesn't want to be ranked behind Joker when Joker retires. Joker does all the things Shaq could never do. He can dribble, pass, shoot mid-range, 3pts, and fts, win without all-time great all-star teammates. Shaq couldn't do any of those things and it kills his soul. Perkins, SA, etc are just racist idiots. N. Wright can't say anything except "yeah, but how does this relate to Lebron".

However other Centers especially Jokic has a far more rounded skill set. Jokic is one of the few guys that is just as good as perimeter player as he is a post up player. He has the ability to adjust within games based on what the team needs. 1 half he will be a distributor and a other half he can shoot your lights out

I hate to say it but Jokic is like Tim Duncan , no matter what he accomplished because he’s not marketable to a certain type of fan he’ll never quite get the type of praise he’s worthy of consistently from media. For example look at everything Duncan accomplished in his first 10 seasons 98-07 4 titles 4-0 3 finals mvps , 2 MVPs Best great teams in the playoffs, 03 one of the biggest carry jobs ever, wasn’t on a superteam. The 6 years he didn’t win 98 - Rookie 00 - out with injury in playoffs 01 and 02- faced prime Kobe and Shaq while his best teammate was a way past prime declining David Robinson 04 Would’ve likely beat the Lakers and went to another Finals if Fisher didn’t make a miracle shot with 0.4 seconds in game 5 06 Lost in game 7 overtime vs Dallas , had 41 points and 15rebounds Any team other player had a 10 year start to a career like that it would’ve been goat conversation, yet because Duncan wasn’t marketable he wasn’t even a top 5 most talked about player in the league. For someone like Jordan who was the most marketable player ever the media and fans were calling him the goat before he even had the first 3 peat because the way he played looked spectacular and passed the eye test and scoring is the only thing casuals really notice, while Jokic does alot of nuanced things on offense that are under appreciated.

He has put himself in that year due to his consistency. We grade Jok on such a crazy curve now… dude could have have 20 points 14 rebounds and 9 assists in a game and it’s considered a bad game. His Standard. His expectations are insane. 95% of players in this league put up a statline like that it’s considered a phenomenal game. We have become numb to Jokers greatness. Less not forgot he really should’ve won last year. He won’t win another one due to voter fatigue and critics outrage. From what I have seen, it’s more about the expectations of the teams rather than the seedings. Nuggets were expected to be the #1 seed but the Thunder made it to the #1 seed instead while being young. The Thunder were expected to have taken a leap, personally I saw at best 3rd seed because I really liked this team talent and how mature the players were for being so young.

The fact that shaq told him to his face is hilarious. Jokic already has close to the same legacy as shaq even though shaq is up 3 on championships. Kobe has a substantially larger legacy than shaq.

This is all about marketing. The NBA is a business and they need marketable champions to promote the brand. Jokic doesn't do that stuff, he just plays basketball and then goes home. The NBA wants more.

Jokic wins this year again imo he is top 5. I don’t care what era you played. I just look at skill and he is easily the most talented big ever. So that makes him probably 5 or 6 all time

Shaq was wrong in that one. He can say his comment on other times, not with them guesting Jokic that time. But Shaq is always like this, always bitter when a Bigman is successful and threatens his legacy as a bigman

It's either turn the Mvp to the best record of the year award or keep it real. Luka did things this year that nobody had done. Plain and simple. Sga nor Joker can accomplish what Luka did this year. Half Lukas team was out 25 plus games. Luka was robbed.

There is an explanation for Edwards not being in the MVP race. Simply, you have the best defensive player, the best 6 player in the team, plus KAT All star, Jokic doesn't have that. Put Doncic with Jokic and no one will be able to come close to them for the next 5 years.

Jokic is mainly hated because he is white and not part of the American AAU basketball culture. Look at SAS, Arenas, Shaq, Wilbon, Nick Wright, Perkins, the Rhoden article and even Mark Jackson this year and last year. No other great players get disrespected like this by NBA media. Certain people are invested in non-basketball agendas. I guess it shouldn't surprise that this kind of bias exists but it is disappointing that TNT and ESPN are sanctioning and even promoting it.

The Bill Russel praise tends to rub me the wrong way, because almost everyone seems oblivious to the context. There were only 10 teams in the NBA during Bill Russels career (from 8 teams to 12 teams, averaged out throughout his career 10 teams). There weren't salary caps and the established Boston Celtics had a stacked team against mostly franchises just trying to get off the ground. And comparing players back then is apples and oranges. Pre 1970 basketball could and probably should be it's own category. But when people throw around Russels 11 rings and what not... the context really should be understood. I have no qualms commendeding him against the players of the era, but comparing him against the recent era's... it's too different and bolstering someone for having 11 rings against such limited competition with a stacked team is ridiculous.

I think with bill Russel you have to remember, the era argument is the only reason he's not considered the goat by a lot of people.if people thought winning in the 60s was as valuable as winning in the 2000s then 11 rings and 5 MVPs would have him deep in goat discussions, people not considering him a goat canadite serves as proof they don't just take 11 rings at face value.

Mvp is for best player. Nothing to do with "value" relative to each team. Why do people keep saying that? Other yes 4 in a row for joker...i dont count embiids DEI award which is also not the criteria.

I agree with Shaq I don't think he should have won it all I do believe that MVP this year belong to SGA and they robbed to him because they want to make the nuggets look like this powerhouse when they just won their first championship last year and make them seem like they're unbeatable when they're not but everybody riding their nuts right now acting like they are He's not a dominant big man the NBA just made the game more cater to the way he plays now
