I just bought a beautiful D70 in the last few months. I've shot quite a few DSLRs but all Canon before this one. Mine cost 60eur with a 50mm 1.8 and it really is a fantastic camera. Even today. The focusing is accurate, the images it produces are gorgeous. We are almost spoiled with how good new cameras are, and can forget just how good these old ones are.

Really enjoyed the history of AVP. HD looks fine to me due to old eyes and older monitor. Great video Bob, thank you!

I have and still use a D70s although it's semi retired now. It was my first digital camera after moving from film, where I used Pentax gear. I'm still using Nikon nowadays.

I had the D70s as my first real digital camera. Before that I had analog Nikon's. I realy loved the D70s. After that I had an occasion D90 that was also very nice. Never had a problem with only 6MP, still think it is more than enoubh :).

I agree, but from an image quality perspective the CMOS cameras like the D90 changed the way we looked and treated photography. I despised my CCD cameras, including the D200. I loved my D90, but never really liked any CCD camera. It’s funny to see people looking at any CCD camera with envy today, even the old Fuji S5 Pros which were amazing.

I couldn't believe the difference in quality using the RAW files using Nikon's CaptureNX instead of anything else. Also, I have used three other successive Nikon cameras since this one and while their flash exposure is good, the D70 was always perfect for me. Using an SB-800. (Still using it on my D750 now) - and the kit lens and the battery life was streets ahead of everything else.

Still have my D70 too. The popup flash doesn't work though. I used it for sports and fast action and everything else. I never said no to any money.

As for the camera itself I pre-ordered mine slight unseen. It was the worst plastic POS I have ever bought (especially coming off climbing the Hasselblad ladder for decades). The viewfinder was actually PAINFUL to use and I felt that mine had a twist in it as there was always a bias on level. Like others mine succumbed to the GBLOD failure (green blinking light of death) caused by a bad resistor in production. Then when I picked it up from service I found a hair had been deposited free of charge in the finder. So loss of camera another three weeks. I came very, very close to buying a Canon at that point (that hinged of couple of words or stock availability across the camera store counter). Ultimately I GAVE IT AWAY. Lessons learned. And a year ago I jumped off the Nikon merry-go-round forever. New camera output is utterly amazing.
