You were likely thinking of Veil of Shadows, which does disrupt units with no damage. Black Whirlwind has always been a damaging stationary vortex.

So many good matches, but I'd like to see beastmen vs lizardmen. Use to be a horrible matchup for beastmen..when the Beastmen couldn't deal with monsters and terror routes. Now with ghorgons and taurox isn't so bad..no idea who's favoured. Also dark lord Felkon can bring his spirit animal...TIK TAC TOE!

Lore of Stealth has two Vortexes, one which causes damage, one which is only for disruption. The confusion is apropietly Skavenny, even if it's not meta. Sometimes flavour triumphs being super optimized.

Yeah man. Tyrion or bust vs Skaven. That free breath attack and them stats. It wasn't just Eltharion, though; only being good vs flying lords because of tempest. It was the lack of infantry punch. He knew. It's Felkon. All those guan do rats and rat ogres hurt that build. I don't blame you one but though dude. How does one take heavy infantry vs the skaven. It's suicide... Usually. HE's are weird. Trolliest race on ladder with alarielle DP and dragon healing blobs. But no one can seem to do much with them without the SEM spam. Man I love this game.

eshin sorcerers are dope, I really feel like their lore is undervalued, especially the stealth/disrupt spells allow you to position & free your ranged units like warpfire throwers.

Those spells aren't great. You would just take units that already have built in stalk and not worry about getting shot up because the opponent cant shoot what they cant see. With artillery without stalk the invisibility spells wear off and then they get shot to pieces when they become visible once again. The ability stalk doesn't wear off ever, it's consistent. Invisibility spells are not consistent and wear off, therefore unreliable and not multiplayer match viable. One eshen spell I do like though is brittle bone. It drops a units speed, vigor, and melee defence all at the same time. If you get poison gutter runners skermish shooting the unit, the poison speed debuff stacks with the spell brittle bone debuff. With the unit so slow and having reduced melee defence by 40, you can run deathmaster snitch and his rat ogre hitsquard right at it and the unit can't do a thing about it because its so slowed down. Usually this unit is an enemy lord or some other big juicy sem target that the opponent brazenly charges at you because all he sees is some soft gutter runners that can't fight back. So overall invisibility spells suck but speed debuff spells are great when stacked with poison missles

Awesome battle, I do miss seeing these races in Game 3. I don’t know why it feels like so much is missing in the 3rd, unlike when we had the Vortex Campaign for Game 2. Game 2 always felt like an upgrade of 1, whereas 3 feels more like a trade off.

You should play in more tourneys I’ve watched at least 50 or 60 of your 1v1s and your win ratio is like 90%! A tight game with Felkon just cements it

my win ratio is definitely not 90%, I pick replays for entertainment, either showing specific units, strats, to teach, or close battles. In a tournament situation, I would very rarely, if ever, beat someone like Felkon, Aero, Icepower, Sooth, or other top tourney guys. I'm good at the game, but not on that level!

Rat ogres won him the game. They were his only win condition assuming Snikch didnt get the duel he wanted. He had them pretty secure the whole time but a lack of focus fire on them was rough.

Rangers are very common infantry pick vs. Beastmen or Skaven. they chew through low armor infantry quite well

yeah for me its mostly about the variety and the timing of Mortal Empires. ME came out only 28 days after wh2 release, so there was no reason to go back to wh1. there's a lot of reason to back to Wh2 now, 3 months after release when there's a lot more variety there

Different races are good at different things. There's nothing cheap about using a ranged army from range, especially when I'm still committing elements of my army to melee frequently
