No need to panic! The Nintendo 3DS eShop may be closing this March on the console's 12th birthday, but I promise you, this little guy is not going anywhere anytime soon.

I got my 3DS in 2020. Getting it so early makes me so sad because i never got to experience the peak of the 3DS. streetpass, Miiverse, nintendo zone, online play etc. it really sucks because yesterday i bought a 35 dollar eshop card and was going to get a game and a theme. Yet to find they dont take eshop cards OR credit card funds. So i have to resort to physical copies of the game, which said, is too expensive. I love Zelda, Animal crossing, Nintendogs etc on the 3DS. I wish nintendo never discontinued it because i probably would’ve had so much more fun with it.

I'll never get bored of my 3ds, nor my DS games. It's just such a big era to me and pretty much took over almost my entire life so far. And when i first homebrewed/modded it, i just felt like that was the right thing to do since i knew that despite what Nintendo will do, the fans won't stop making this console keep it alive for the longest time as they can. From the dual screen gaming experience to the actual 3D, this system continues to blow my mind and find its way back into my hands. The catalog has so much diversity and charm its been a lot of fun going through some of these as of late. Makes you wonder what happened to all the charm and uniqueness (Mii maker, Streetpass, Themes, Music, etc) and how its just absent on the switch. Not sure we'll ever have two screen or Stereoscopic gaming again, sad. Anyways, great video brother, earned a new subscriber, always looking forward to quality 3ds content, keep it coming!

I feel similar, as I get a small cramp in my right thumb when playing for extended periods. Usually shifting my grip helps. I play on a mint dual IPS “new” 3DS (the Pokémon one) and really appreciate the pixel density and quality. I have 2 boxed XL’s that I’ve contemplated using to avoid the cramp, but I think I would find the size and screen quality difference to have its own faults.

Let me explain. Save data is linked to whatever the game is stored on. So if I have a game on a game card, then the save is stored on the card. If the game is on an SD card, it'll be on the SD. If the game is on internal storage, the save will be on internal storage. *What I'm saying is: Save data is deleted upon deleting the game.* With that said, extra data is always going to be stored on the SD card. DLC and updates are not associated with any save data, but if you _delete the update to a game, but not the game itself,_ then your save data will be for a newer version of a game then what you currently have; as such, the game may consider it corrupted and delete the save.

Just began to feel the pressure of the eShop closing and my chance to revisit this piece of my childhood recently. I got a Steam Deck a while back and after emulating some GBA on it, I realized how good it felt to play games on hardware close in feel to the original layout (Obviously the SD has a lot going on, but a D-pad and a few buttons on either side of a rectangular screen just felt natural). There's nothing out there today like the NDS/3DS line. I just picked up a new 3DS to ensure I can go back and experience all those great games the way they're meant to be played again.
@nikgrgrio
@nikgrgrio Жыл бұрын
100% with you on feeling that pressure from the eShop's closure and you're right- nothing out there is really portable like the NDS/3DS family and is geared more towards bringing AAA gaming with you for 2-3 hours of charge. That's not me knocking the switch or deck of course, but I just remembered how insane the charges on DS lites were Anyway, I'm happy to hear you were able to secure some GBA memories on your deck and were able to secure a new 3DS. Thanks for being here, Ezlo

It's a shame Citra for Android is no longer in active development, since foldable devices like a Fold 4 + telescopic controller seem to be the perfect alternative to DS-style consoles, with the added benefit of older 4:3 games being much larger since it's just a single screen.

I used to think that the 3DS was completely obsolete with the coming of the Switch, and I was considering selling mine (my 3DS is a special edition NES so I thought I could make a few bucks), but recently my friend bought one and told me I should buy it so I can ACNL with him, little did he know that I loved that game when I was younger. Somewhat inspired, I grabbed my old, scratched up 3DS and wasted five straight hours just playing New Leaf (not to mention all the other games, like Samus Returns, Ever Oasis, Happy Home Designer, a ton of Pokemon, etc.). And now, I bring the thing with me everywhere, which a lot of my friends have made jokes about. The thing was my childhood, and I hope it’ll someday be apart of my adulthood. Maybe even my kid’s childhoods.

I also got the aqua blue 3ds on launch back then. Loved the game system but hated when it first came out because there wasn't alot of games in the game library at the time of launch. I ended up playing alot of Nintendo dogs 3ds then in later years they finally put some nicer games on it. A few years later I ended up importing an Australian 2ds for the game: Teddy Together 3ds specifically. What killed me was the game has a European release with not only the English language but also 9 other languages for every European game. I called Nintendo Of America on the phone several times asking them about an American release of Teddy Together & was told flat out by the manager of Nintendo of America that they had zero plans to release Teddy Together 3ds for America & to actually import a European 3ds & the copy of the game if I wanted to play it. I imported it but was ticked that I even had to import because of the fact Nintendo Of America was to lazy to release the game over here... 🤦‍♀️ Luckily with the switch it's region free. I play Japanese along with American switch games all the time. Why on earth nintendo region locked the 3ds is totally baffling to me. I knew other gamers back then who bought 3 3ds's: American, European, & Japanese in order to play 3ds games from other regions & had to categorize there 3ds games by region so it didn't brick the system. Other than that I still have my 3ds's & like / enjoy them but the region locking was annoying back then. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️✌️

3ds is the best console ever released, imo. I also got the red one at first. I was pretty young and destroyed it, eventually. I kept getting them after that, and destroying them. Eventually I got a little older and the frequency at which I destroyed them slowed and I eventually got pretty good at taking them apart. Now I have a second hand battered new 3ds xl in same color of my very first, red. I still have no clue how I managed to continue procuring them after I kept destroying them. My greatest woe was my link between worlds 3ds xl... Losing that one killed my emotions and the trauma deleted my memories of it from my brain. I am a husk now, but at least I can repair a bottom screen's digitizer if I need to.

Man, using my handed down 3ds recently that I barely used at all, makes me wish I used it more and that the switch had its quirks and personality, I like having cool themes and cool background console music

I really like the 3ds family of consoles. They just had some of the best titles imo. Now that I've watched the video, I'm gonna consider homebrewing my 2DS XL now. (I'm sad about no streetpasses aswell)

The thing with the 3DS is that, despite being a portable device, it's not necessarily "bite-sized." SMTIV and IV Apocalypse are full-on JRPGs, for example. The Fire Emblem games are long and battles can take ages. Culdcept Revolt (imo one of the 3DS's most underrated, elusive, and obscure titles) is sort of bite-sized, but it's built in a way that matches take ages. Heck, we have Xenoblade Chronicles ad MGS3 on the 3DS. With some enhancements, many of those games would be right at home on a home console or even the PC. I had a GBC growing up and later on I got a DSi XL. And then, much later on I got a second-hand 3DS XL so I could play ACNL and gen 7 Pokemon. The 3DS has since been my favorite gaming device. I'm still primarily a PC gamer, but my 3DS is always in close proximity and I always take it outside on the slim chance I'll get a streetpass. Funny enough, I did get ONE on New Year when coming back home from London.

Gabriel, you could not be more right. The 3DS has such a massive catalog of hour-suckers like the games you mentioned and that even though we have PCs and consoles we can take with us on the go, the 3DS still has more than enough space to exist in our setups. I also haven't heard of Culdcept Revolt, but I will definitely have to check that one out!

literally funny how most of us would never have home brewed if it weren't for the shop closing... i just did mine last week. bought a 128gb new battery and did it up.. everything was good except my y button didn't work took it apart had to clean the contact and now its perfect.

The powers that be of the youtube algorithm have graced you my friend! This video appeared in my feed at a remarkably coincidental time where I've found myself making sure I have all my softmods and custom firmware squared away for my 3ds. The fans will certainly keep this wonderful device alive and preserved for many years to come. You've got a sub from me, keep up the good work! Your hard work recording and editing combined with your down to earth delivery certainly doesn't go unnoticed.

With the eShop coming to a closure, I revisited my old 3DS which have been in a drawer for the past 8 years and I was surprised of how great the console still felt and the many great games available. It truly was a nostalgic moment and to see my younger self recorded on the crappy 3DS camera was very emotional. I have many great memories tied to the 3DS and it’s such a shame they’re closing the eShop but we luckily have the amazing Switch to enjoy! Anyway I really enjoyed your video, and you earned yourself a new sub!

it reminds me of the psp early homebrewing days and iphone jailbreaks. man glory days of enjoying the product to its fullest. i was able to hack the 3ds and it has been amazing to replay so many games i lost physically, this and the wii u are probably the last time i think well see this type of homebrewing. even the whole process was nostalgia of the early days.

this video made me feel a lot better about the fact the eshop is closing! i used to have a 3ds xl but gave it to my sister and since have been thinking about picking a new 3ds of new 2ds up for myself to be able to play a lot of the games i missed. but with the closure on the horizon it made me wonder if it’ll still be worth it, but watching this made me realise it definitively will be :) im more into physical games anyway and those i can’t find or are too expensive there’s always homebrewing haha

I was raised mostly the same way with playing a lot of Nintendo games from the Wii to the Switch and then once I got older, I got a little more into gaming and honestly use it to stay off social media more. I started using a mixture of an R4 card as well as my old physical games collection on my 3DS that I honestly barely touched and I love either revisiting all these games I used to play as a kid or games that were popular at that time that I’ve never played. I think the 3DS is going to live on with home brewing and emulations.
