A new set of four poems offered to Hermes, also continuing my series honoring his various epithets. "What Trees?" was inspired not only by the epithet Dendrites ("of the trees") but also by Kedrites ("of the cedars") and the other trees I'd identified while researching the past poem "Sacred to Hermes". "The Whole Truth" began as a satire about mystery cults, then became a gift to Hermes after I noticed the epithet Hermeneus Pas ("interpreter of everything"). The title of "Keep It Simple" references both the epithet Klepsiphron ("stealthy-minded" or "the deceiver") as well as the term 'quacksalver' (or 'kwakzalver', in Dutch), meaning a hustler of dubious medical products (from which we derive the modern term 'quack' for a medical impostor). Finally, "Everyone's Friend" is a direct homage to an insightful blog article by a fellow devotee of Hermes, Thenea Hermocrates (see below), in which they explained why working with Hermes as a Patron can be trying... He may be your friend, but then, He's a general 'friend of humanity' (Philandros), our worst members not excluded.
