The interesting thing about that is left handed steering was not originally mandated for early automobiles. Henry Ford liked to go fast and pass what ever wagon, bicyclist or herd of sheep was in from of him and passing was easier accomplished with steering on the left. The Ford Company built so many cars that all others in the US fell in line. There is 1 Model T body called the Ford 3 door and the drivers position is pretty much center, to my memory. At one time there was one @ The Petersen in L.A.

I'm currently in Japan for work and have done a fair bit of work over here over the years. I have seen quite a few of these and never knew they were only produced for one year. Interesting. Thanks for this video. Take care.

I love it. Always caught my attention when I saw them on the road in UK. Strikes me as an excellent candidate for eventual electric conversion, since the appeal has nothing to do with the engine.

Especially with that low, deep "trunk"...seems like quite a lot of battery could fit there. And, to Robert's comment about a sliding tray, you could possibly make the battery pack swappable.

Imagine the same car, but with a battery in the long trunk, and the actual trunk in the forward compartment. It could be actually comfortable that way! And honestly I dig the design so hard I wish they made Figaro2 now and sell 500 000 of them.

“Needed a little work” = in the shop for three months. Yep, that sounds about par for the course in the automotive universe. “Ya know, that trunk looks about the perfect size and shape to hold a traction battery. Let’s drop an electric powertrain in this baby.” = three months in the shop is _only_ the beginning... 😉

I bought a 1988 Ford F-150 with the XLT Lariat trim. Top tier trim package, with power windows, power locks, and full climate control (AC and heater, not just a heater). It's been somewhat reliable the past year I've owned it, and I've fallen in love with it. I'll be hopefully beginning a full frame-up restoration someday soon on it. I understand the comment at 11:50 about liking the fuss and having to fiddle with things constantly to stay on the road. And 3-speed automatic transmissions, my truck has one of those, are just interesting because the engine is just screaming at high RPMs at highway speeds. I love it, but it isn't great in some cases.

Great video! I had many K10 Micras 15-20 years ago and they were always great cars. Never really got behind the Figaro but always fancied a Pao or Be-1. The S-Cargo is a bit more sunny and K11 than the rest and they always seem to turn up to 2cv meets too.

I'm guessing that trunk was designed to fit golf bags. My friend had a Nissan 350Z and it had a section of the owners manual showing you how to fit two golf bags past the cross brace in the trunk.

I passed by one of these last year in my Subaru, and I mean literally came up behind it so fast that I had to do a sharp lane change to miss it. Caught a fleeting glimpse of "FIGARO" and immediately thought "It must be an old Fiat!" Having loving (but not longing...) memories of my younger years 1965 Fiat 850 Spider, my second thought was "How cute, an older more grown-up little Fiat with an operetta name." My third thought was "Wonder if the sheet-metal is thicker than tinfoil?" Love the car, and the attention to vintage details, even down to oldish tape holding the radio together @ 5:07 . I stumbled upon this video and just had to subscribe to both channels so I wouldn't miss any more of your "humor", as my wife would say of mine using air-quotes.

They sold them new in Canada, and a few have trickled down. Actually, due to restrictions on cars under 25 years old, older Soviet models like Chaikas and first-gen Ladas are more common.
