The interesting thing about that is left handed steering was not originally mandated for early automobiles. Henry Ford liked to go fast and pass what ever wagon, bicyclist or herd of sheep was in from of him and passing was easier accomplished with steering on the left. The Ford Company built so many cars that all others in the US fell in line. There is 1 Model T body called the Ford 3 door and the drivers position is pretty much center, to my memory. At one time there was one @ The Petersen in L.A.

It's been somewhat reliable the past year I've owned it, and I've fallen in love with it. I'll be hopefully beginning a full frame-up restoration someday soon on it. I understand the comment at 11:50 about liking the fuss and having to fiddle with things constantly to stay on the road. And 3-speed automatic transmissions, my truck has one of those, are just interesting because the engine is just screaming at high RPMs at highway speeds. I love it, but it isn't great in some cases.

Gotta love the effort they put into this car for style. I was already subscribed to Technology Connections but I just subscribed you just now.

I'm guessing that trunk was designed to fit golf bags. My friend had a Nissan 350Z and it had a section of the owners manual showing you how to fit two golf bags past the cross brace in the trunk.

Bingo! A car for rich people who play golf, or at least for people who would like to be rich and play golf.

I passed by one of these last year in my Subaru, and I mean literally came up behind it so fast that I had to do a sharp lane change to miss it. Caught a fleeting glimpse of "FIGARO" and immediately thought "It must be an old Fiat!" Having loving (but not longing...) memories of my younger years 1965 Fiat 850 Spider, my second thought was "How cute, an older more grown-up little Fiat with an operetta name." My third thought was "Wonder if the sheet-metal is thicker than tinfoil?" Love the car, and the attention to vintage details, even down to oldish tape holding the radio together @ 5:07 . I stumbled upon this video and just had to subscribe to both channels so I wouldn't miss any more of your "humor", as my wife would say of mine using air-quotes.

here in brazil there's several, from back in the 90s when government finally allowed people to import cars, they where cheap and a lot better than the crap cars produced locally at the time.

They sold them new in Canada, and a few have trickled down. Actually, due to restrictions on cars under 25 years old, older Soviet models like Chaikas and first-gen Ladas are more common.

The Figaro's styling is said to be inspired by that of the coupe version of the AWZ P70, the predecessor of the Trabant :)

Now that you say, yes, that's what it's most similar to! :) Couldn't put my finger on it...

Austin-Healey Sprite. Just less cool and slower. And without racing pedigree.
