How have I NEVER heard of this...OMFG! How cool!! Growing up all I did was ride the public bus until my Mom got her drivers license very late in life. There is no profession I respect more than the bus driver! While all of these buses have a special place in history and everyone's heart, none will ever come close to the prestige the Grumman 870/Flxible Metro has! That bus came in so many versions with so many different options and represented so many different cities!

@@diezel5267 I remember seeing them everywhere in Trenton as a kid growing up and a whole bunch of them would line State Street going through downtown. I didn't finally start riding the NJ transit bus until i was 15 years old and that's when they were beginning to phase the flexies out and replace them with the NABI's. I'm glad I got to experience a piece NJ transit history before it was too late.

I'm happy that everyone had a great time either reliving the memories, seeing most of the historic buses for the first time and just congregate amongst family and friends when viewing these buses. Shout out to all who maintain, preserve and those who personally own a bus or buses. By the way, it's ALL about the Flxible Metros mean lean. I remember riding those old GM's and GM 'new look' buses as a kid, in collage and into an adult from the 1960's to the early 1980's. Some of the GM New Looks were used by the 'Warwick Stage' lines that ran from Warwick, NY to NYC and went through my home town (taken over by NJT, used on the 196-197 routes today). They had stick shifts due to hills they had to go over on the upper part of their routes. They were pretty quick with the sticks. Also cool to see the old Trailways coaches as well.
@FrankBullitt3902 жыл бұрын
They still used those as back up buses where I lived in the early 90's, they had thick foam comfy seats and a smooth ride, it was actually enjoyable unlike the buses today with hard plastic seats.

Just stumbled across this video. As a Brit, I have fond memories of riding buses in the USA during the '80s and 90s. I was a bit shocked by the hard plastic seats on most city buses, but the amazingly bouncy suspension made up for that. Most of all I was impressed by the ice cool aircon. Unfortunately, people here are too ambivalent about A/C to make it really effective

Been a fan of busses since I was a kid way back when we used to travel on the in Mexico. My dad always drove a bus for work so pretty safe to say that’s where it started for me. So many good memories I would try and make my way to talk to the driver and just sit Along them on any trip we took. I think the most memorable ones where traveling on them Volvo 9700s, Marco Polo 100s , older busscar, irisar i8, mci, and even some older Dina I cannot remember the type specifically but it was some good times. Also I was around 5-8 yrs old doing shit like this so crazy how the times go now I work on 737/8/9 ,e175s, crj 2/7/9 and even some airbus in there. I’m glad stuff like this exists would love to check it out sometime.
