Reminder that Nomacs has asked for help of contributors to keep the project going! The explanation is pinned in their Github.

That's unfortunate but hopefully their call for contributors will be heard: github.com/nomacs/nomacs/issues/987

The sync feature would be very useful to me, as I often two compare two versions of the same image to find out the minute differences between them. :)

regarding MS Office files: they (at least modern ones) are basically "fancy" structured zip-xml-files that every app that can handle zip files can open. They are not the crazy binary format from the past anymore!

It's been my default image viewer (and editor for basic tasks) for like two years now. It reminds me of good ole Irfanview I used to love and use on Windows. It's strange that you discovered it just now. It definitely needs more publicity, so thank you for this video.

Non american here .. just wondering what accent you have? Is it southern ? Its very nice to listen to
@DistroTube9 ай бұрын
Southern US. I'm in Louisiana. Southerners tend talk at a slower pace which many non-Americans find easy to listen to (especially those whose first language isn't English).

Turns out I'm already using Nomacs as my main image viewer.

I think Sync may be helpful in image editing. If you have several images with the same problem, like color or brightness, you can edit one and apply to many.

The digital graphic novel/comic distribution formats (like CBZ) are just zip files of jpg/png images with a different extension, so i guess for a comprehensive image viewer like this, makes sense for it to support.

I've used nomacs for over 2 years and I've been happy. I've had issues with webp images though. These days I prefer the very minimalist, but very fast qView.

Never heard of this til now. Looks cool - thanks for sharing!

Very cool, I just installed it on Arch via the AUR and it defaults to a light theme. You have to go to the settings and enable the dark theme manually, otherwise it is a really nice image viewer.

Ive been using nomacs for about two years. Its fast, really fast. I shoot raw a lot and it can handle large files easily. I wish it was in the arch repos. Its on the aur but it takes a while to compile on my potato laptop. Using the flatpak makes it take a little longer to launch. You can also remove all distractions from it, make it very minimalist and i love that.

I just installed this yesterday to try it out. Then DT makes a video about it.

I hoping to find nomacs in the debian stable repository, but its not there. I wonder why it hasn't made it there.

Interesting image viewer. I will test it.
@JohnCastleSmokeless9 ай бұрын
One image format I don't think it supports is .dds, which is used in Fallout 3 and New Vegas (and probably a slew of other games and/or applications) for textures. Or, if it does support that format, it's not "out of the box" and I haven't found a way to enable it.

Strange name for an image viewer since it has nothing to do with Emacs, TeXmacs and other -macs variants.
