Sad to see the camper gone hopefully you will bring a new redesign for it thank you

Your camper lived in my dreams rent-free all of these years. It will continue to do so! Maybe, one day, I will build a copy of yours and I will live in the world, rent-free!
@Xtrafix201518 сағат бұрын
Aw, what a shame it couldn’t live for longer, but it sure made a generational impression to many fans who watched you build it and copied your masterpiece. I sincerely appreciate your skills and dedication to help others and hope you can rebuild it to last longer for old times sake with the knowledge you learned from your past great endeavors, sir you’re the best and one and only true master of simple creative engineering. ✌️

Its always hard taking a fun project apart, that one held up pretty well. Can learn a lot watching it coming apart, see what worked and if anything broke.

I was surprised nothing broke! I expected to one day fall thru the floor, but it held up. The sun, with all Fluted plastic, is the nemesis.

I remember watching you build that camper and how it inspired me. How time flies. I'm still working on a folding pop up design, so it rides lower. Have a few things to figure out. And I will buy a DIY trailer kit from a company called WIKE that is out of Canada. Stay safe.

this is such a wonderful proof of concept. This little plastic doohickey holding good for nine years!!! I am sure the price per year equates to that of a house
@paulwelkinsdiy15 сағат бұрын
That would be about $17 per year.

random searching "bicycle camper" a few years ago was a great choice. glad to have been alive on the same earth as this beauty of a camper. i dream of like 60$ designs you could buy from your local dollar store especially now they have some better things. mainly large carboard for projects, maybe soon wooden dowel rods etc, shower curtains and wire etc other structure and protection materials. even the plastic bags etc.
@Rouverius10 сағат бұрын
I'm so glad for this project and the bugout camper. Since they were how I found your channel. Ironic that all those campaign signs probably did more good as recycled building material; maybe even outlasting the ones they were promoting😁
@TallPaul777117 сағат бұрын
Some of the materials lasted better than others, It's surprising it lasted this well for this long.
@paulwelkinsdiy15 сағат бұрын
Indeed. I'm thinking the paint helped some. But most of the degredation damage came with the south facing nose.

Really cool design, lightweight, affordable, and lasted almost a decade. Awesome job.
@gooseknack17 сағат бұрын
It doesn't surprise me that stuff deteriorated. In Australia's sun, it would be lucky to last a year even with a few coats of good outdoor paint.. The summer sun especially is harsh and unforgiving down here and practically destroys an extra heavy duty 9 layer poly tarp in a couple of months of continuous exposure 😬..

"Putting down" a beloved pet or project is always hard. If the coroplast you used is polypropylene, I hope it could be recycled (#5), though.
@sandrinakeffufal60088 сағат бұрын
I don't think they can recycle degraded plastic, it's too low quality.

@Cycle-Tourer9 сағат бұрын
The main problem of 99% of the bicycle campers is the big volume. It's very limited because of the wind-drags or gust and even can be dangerous, particularly with side-wind and curves. Also, carry 25 kg behind the bicycle is awful on ascend. The only real useful bicycle camper can be folding one, and around 10 kg (22 pounds). But if it's for e-bike, the weight can be even double. But fold-able in any case.
