The Nomad - Post Apocalyptic Short Film (Shot on iPhone SE)

After an epidemic wipes out the Earth's adults, a 14 year old boy travels across his deserted country, avoiding the dangerous survivors that kill to take, in hopes to find civilization. He then encounters another survivor, Nicholas, who wants nothing more than some company. Together they head East towards "Safe Haven", a civilized facility that will surely end their struggle for survival.

Back-yard home-video getting 34K views, means a lot of luck plus an uncommon title. Among millions of short movies, search-terms are important, and anyone typing in "post-apocalyptic nomad" would see this whereas "post-apocalyptic wanderer" etc. would deliver an endless list.

Listening to loud music out in the daylight wearing earphones in both ears; facing the walls. Open space behind you. The two boys were clearly trying to murder him, and he somehow overcomes them both and as they lie sleeping it off, he just walks away. They wake up and chase him for a while then loose his trail. Then later a guy captured him and only ties him up: twice. Then he gets away a second time (other guys fault there) and immediately kills him.... 🙄 Kills the nice guy: let’s the killers go. Then lies to the fat kid about it saying the guy was trying to kill him...

Nice work on this, man! The actors did a good job and carried the emotions of each scene very well. It's pretty cool to see this post-apocalyptic world through the eyes of children. And considering you shot it with an iPhone is even more impressive. I would love to see what you can do with a better camera, like a DSLR or something. Cool stuff!

This is a fantastic story! I predict if all of you remain on this storytellers road you will succeed! Remarkably well thought out and edited. Hey David, this was all filmed mainly in Port Coquitlam, in the forest beside the middle school we all went to when we made this short film. Some bits were done in Coquitlam as well, at Riverview Hospital.

If any of these supposed survivors had a shred of practical ability they could easily get some vehicles going and find alternative fuel sources to run them, an old style mechanical fuel injection diesel like a mercedes will run on engine oil and can be bump started without a battery even, so why are they always on foot!

I do agree on the sound fx part, but this is an experimental film, everything was done on the iPhone then moved to Windows Movie Maker only for music. So yes, the sound fx are bad but as good as they get in terms of the whole iPhone editing ordeal.
