Some people has no empathy. They would burn the world if this happened to their own kid. They are somebody's kids too. I can't imagine being their parents. I love Stray Kids because I find them extraordinarily talented and enjoy their music. I understand young people going ga-ga over the idols but just can't wrap my head around when it is adults who do that. However, I find a lot of things cringey and inappropriate especially when people who are older post inappropriate thoughts and their lust over these "kids". Despite the robotic voice, I agree with this video.

How about young actors in bls who are expected after acting in a bl series are then shipped with each other and have to carry on after the series ends living a lie that they are really in love with each other when they are not gay just to put money into the coffers of Agency's and film company's. Its disgusting the way they are used.If they need to do bls use real gay actors not straight actors because the fans soak up what they see and believe whats going on is actually true and buys all the paraphernalia that goes with it. In my book it's fraud.

i think the only way we can break the stigma that it’s ok to sexualize male idols is when we stop acting like men are more instinctively sexual than women. and the problem is, other men reinforce this too! the excuse of “i can’t help it. it’s in my nature” is constantly used in reference to justify sexual harassment, abuse and even r@pe. it’s the notion that men cannot control their sexual desires and must express them to others. this leads others to assume that because male sexual desire is by their nature, men ALWAYS want to be sexual, and that if they aren’t, they must be devoid of masculinity for not displaying it. but stans (including female stans) need to understand that they are fitting the role of the oppressor when they sexualize male idols. “he meant to raise his shirt up it’s fine. he’s over 18 he’s a man now why does it matter?” are excuses to justify the notion that once again that, to be a man you must be instinctively sexual. but men and women are not that different, men deserve to be treated with respect and not simplified to only a sexual deviant. men deserve to be seen as people, they deserve consent and they do NOT constantly want to be sexual just like women don’t want to be constantly sexualized.

i still find it crazy how everyone was extremely against older men liking new jeans and having a bias that was a minor, but when it came to enhypen's niki/sunoo gaining older women fans, nobody said anything. the constant sexualization that niki went through and is still going through is so bad, I saw videos of women in their 30s cheering. cheering. for turning "of age". niki was extremely young when he debuted, yet no big protection actions were performed for him and the rest of the maknae line--unlike the support new jeans received. I'm not saying they didn't deserve it, because they all need to be protected (with the inclusion of halting the debuting of minors), yet when it was a minor boy, the expectations seemed to dwindle down to that of a minor girl. older preying on younger boys is also just as bad as older men preying on younger girls, so why does this happen? its extremely sad.

"You definitely can control your fingers from typing" - it's in fact related not only to this topic. I believe: we are people, our thoughts sometimes can be inappropriate, rude or even cruel, even toward our close ones. It's ok, we need a way to harmlessly fulfill our emotions, but it doesn't mean this needs to affect world around and other people. And control of our behavior can actually help to restrict our thoughts.

I agree. The push for the normalisation of paedophilia, homosexuality and feminisation of men is the reason for this.Society is trying to abolish the stigma associated with these abnormalities. Have you noticed that these K-pop idols and actors are pushed to wear girl clothes on stage to be push forward their careers. I think it is not so much fans wanting the man on man relationships. Their industry pushes this.

The most disappointing moment is when kpop fans in comment section are being mad to people who comment stop objectifying and sexualizing heeseung and the post is just a satire post. The comments are like "slay" or "go girl help the korea fertile rate". We know we will be triggered if the post is about female idol as we should but we should be also mad if the male idol is being objectify, because that post is literally about r@p€ like why would lock heeseung to help korea's low fertile rate.

Thank god someone is adressing this. As a fan of BL-series I draw a lot of parallels to that culture as well. Especially the culture of thai BL as they are “kings” of shipping. I personally don’t ship actors or artists, I just find it heartwarming when they are being sweet towards each other. BUT….it should be because they want to be sweet to each other, not because someone tells them that they have to or because it benefits the company they are signed up for. Personally I’m extremely fed up with the macho-culture amongst men in general, society’s vision of what a man or a woman is. These visions doesn’t help niether woman nor men to live in a healthy society. Even though woman are more likely to get targeted, used and sexualized it doesn’t mean that men are never not. We are all humans and I believe the big problem is that we need to change the overall mentality. Regardless of being a man or a woman it’s not a weakness to show emotions or to ask for help from others. To believe that men should just suck it up and take all the negative shit coming their way because they are men is just as stupid as saying that women are only good in the kitchen and bringing children into the world. I believe we are all responsible for changing the way we look at men and women. Another problem is that we live in the era of technology. One snap or one click and someone can be seen by the whole rest of the world in minutes. Suddenly becoming available for everyone to share their opinion about. I don’t say we should go backwards, but because everything is going so fast today we should hit the breaks once in a while and reflect on whether things we do in the world actually are for a good cause or just for the fact that “because we can”.

It just baffles me how someone can be this self un-aware and this much of a hypocrite. It's honestly scary how male sexualization is so normalized in the kpop community. Also the comments on some male idols fancams are just absolutely disgusting. Except that they play into it. You and I both know that agencies pair different people to see which ship catches on. If a ship becomes popular, it's their job to do fan service to feed that ship. When different pairings do couple things, it's not a coincidence. They know the camera is there and unless it's live, the agency reviews that footage and releases it to the public. Most of these so-called moments only make it to air because they want them to be seen. Be real. Shipping is good for business and they fully encourage it. Idols are made aware of this as part of their training. It's part of the job.

@@misspriss2482just because it’s part of the job as for today it does not mean that it’s a good thing and that we automatically should support that. I’m actually very happy that at least within the world of thai bl there is a very healthy trend going on where many actors reveal their real life partners. This I believe is part of naturalizing this crazy shipping thing going on. I’ve also seen a lot of actors questioning this whole thing about which name is coming first and which name is coming last cuz people somehow have made this significant with whom is being “top” or “bottom”. They do the same within the k-pop culture. As if they think that they are entitled to know these kind of things. Stray Kids pulled me in with their sound and looks, but I stayed because of their characters. The more you learn about them, the more you want to protect them! I mean, they are hot, but if that was all they had, I wouldn't have stayed in the fandom. Period. They are like art, you need to look at it from all angles, take it in, appreciate it. If one piece would be missing, it wouldn't have the same effect. They are humans, they have flaws and that is what I like about them. I just enjoy the show and hope that they are happy with their work and life.

This is a major reason i think kpop has such a bad reputation. I understand being obsessed with following your favorite artists but the sexualization is just wayyyy too much. Im asexual so i think i see it more easily but it is genuinely off putting how much fans sexualize their faves. Personally, i think the agencies probably do push a lot of sexualized dance moves, and it's noticeable to me because it sometimes makes me uncomfortable lol. Plus, i think if something is said once or twice, people just copy it so much it gets to the point of being weird and overdone, like the babygirl stuff. Like, it might be funny once or twice but then they try to make it their whole personality type or smth. Or like, "duality". obviously they have duality, THEYRE A HUMAN, we are multi-faceted. I sure hope theyre not a one dimensional person without any depth to their personality 😒

Imagine working day in and day out to be better at what you do just to be treated like a piece of meat that has no other value than to be drooled over. Finding idols attractive is just inevitable and talking about how hot you find someone is or watching edits or whatever is absolutely fine. I'm a straight man and even I do that with male idols. But the way people go feral and act like it's okay to say the most sexual shit about a person they don't even know is insane. They're not characters in a show, they're real human beings that wants to, and should be, appreciated for the constant hard work and effort they put in everyday.

NO CAUSE YOU ARE SO REAL FOR THIS. This is something I've really noticed in the time I've been a Kpop fan and I was and still am surprised that some people just don't see anything wrong with it??? Like people are so quick to jump to defend female idols from any sexualization, but not when it comes to male idols??? Like they deserve the same respect and decency??? They're all human??? I saw this so much with Niki especially, and I literally pray to god that he doesn't see half the stuff I have come across about him. It's so sad and frustrating that the double standard exists and people just continue to think it is perfectly okay just because they are men. There's so many things about the industry and the way fans interact with idols that is just so wild and normalized when it really shouldn't be, and this is one of them. I'm glad people are at least talking about it so some awareness can be spread, because it really is such an issue. Not just concerning the fans but also the companies that they are a part of.

With all due respect, agencies sexualize idols and idols are taught to look, dance, and dress provocatively. There. I said it. Every industry sells sex, including Kpop. There is literally no other reason that any of these idols dress half-naked, do hip rolls and thrusts, and look into the camera seductively. The sexualization of male idols has been normalized because the industry, just like every other industry, perpetuates it. It's not going away because they don't want it to go away. If sex (and to a certain extent sexual fantasy) was not such a huge component of the industry, most of their profits would disappear and they know this. Some of us are here for the music and would listen to these groups regardless, but I suspect that that isn't the motivation for most of kpop's target audience.

This is literally the FIRST time someone actually decided to defend male Kpop idols in this type of situation , it’s honestly disgusting how people actually have the confidence to do this. This actually reminds me of a time , and it was when Hyunjin (Stray Kids) got sexualised while performing a concert in US (United States) , apparently his bVlg3 was shown on camera , and at some point it was posted on p0rñ websites and others , ( some websites even had his ‘You-Probably-Know-What’ ZOOMED in, and it got called ‘hot fancam 🥵’ ) the scene even got leaked on other social media platforms such as TikTok. It’s going to far. The Kpop Industry/Society NEEDS to do something about this. So does the Company’s that they belong to or work in. I’ve noticed that not ALL women get protected from sexualisation..the majority of women that are protected are those who have an important role in the group, company, or/and even the whole Kpop Industry itself. It’s because they are ‘ too special to be sexualised ‘ , meanwhile other women who are not that worldwide famous , or even with less beauty and body shape are constantly ignored when being sexually targeted. What’s worse is that minors in Kpop are being sexualised too. In fact , it should not be happening to ANYONE. And in MY opinion , Kpop agencies should not be debuting minors , it should be stopped , bc recently so many children are debuting. But it’s okay if a minor is a trainee at the agency , they just shouldn’t be debuting until the age of 20-25+. And even if they debute at that age still does not mean you can sexualise them. Bc Ik one idol who debuted when they were only 9 ( not sure if this is true but that’s what I’ve heard/seen ) , and not even a week after that young girl debuted she got sexualised for wearing a short skirt. On one TikTok the caption was ‘ HER THIGHS , I WANT TO BE BETWEEN THEM SO BAD ‘ with the clip of her wearing a short skirt. Idk who you are , but what you’ve said and mentioned in this video is really important. Everyone should be aware. This is really impressive. Thank you for taking your time on this sensitive topic/presentation 🙏🏻🙏🏻

The industry has so many issues that need to be addressed, but I think a lot of them stem from how they market idols, not as the human beings with faults, autonomy, and feelings that they have, but instead as these perfect, idealized people that are literally shaped to appeal to you. And so, I think a lot of the sexualization comes from this idea that they are more like fantasies or objects for the audience to cling onto. And they don't see as much of an issue with it because they forget they are humans too (which is like actually insane??? but yeah). And I feel that with male idols specifically, it is easier to overlook it because we as a society have recognized that men are more generally privileged and less likely to be sexualized in day-to-day life compared to a woman. And societally we have not had that conversation about male sexualization brought to the forefront yet. And so I think that because a majority of the people sexualizing the male idols are women themselves, and they feel like it is much less serious when it's directed at a man than a woman because they are more aware of the sexualization of women and can even relate to it. But can't do the same with men. And also the internet is just a huge echo chamber where people feel like they don't have to face the consequences for what they say. Anyways, those are my thoughts on it. And I'm sure there's a lot that goes into it, but I think we really need to examine the Kpop industry and its faults.

It can't stop unfortunately. Outside of sex appeal, there is literally nothing else that would set kpop idols....or any celebrity for that matter apart from the general population enough for their target audience to want to spend their money on them. These companies market these kids as sexually desirable to their base on purpose. It's much more than just the cliché "sex sells" too. They are selling a fantasy to their base...making them believe that if they simp hard enough, maybe one day, they might be lucky enough to stand next to them. Idols are not considered normal people. Normal people don't have their named chanted by the thousands and weirdos breaking into their hotel rooms to steal their towels or dirty socks.

I guess I see what you mean by this. I thought of fancalls and how it is used for selling the possibility of flirting with an idol. People spend hundreds of dollars on albums to try to win them, and it increases album sales. Mainly boy groups get the benefits from this strategy. it's kind of insane to think about spending a lot of money just to talk to an idol for 1 minute.
@zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee265
@zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee265 7 ай бұрын
@@misspriss2482 Of course they're naive...because they're likely a teenager that doesn't understand anything outside of their teenage bubble. Actual adults understand how propaganda works. Marketing is very effective on kids because kids and teenagers typically aren't able to see that they are being manipulated...because minors are generally naive. But make no mistake about it, sexualization is the prime reason why these boy and girl groups become popular to begin with. Idols and their fans are in a parasocial relationship built on a false sense of romance. Idols are essentially "dating" their fans. That's why the illusion is broken the moment they behave like actual human beings.

I think that if you are a kpop idol these days, doing aeygo or at least one of the group showing their abs is expected. By signing up to aim to be an idol those things will be an expectation from the off. It's part of being in an idol group. To me they are performers doing a performance, and hopefully can distance themselves from their role. There are two problems with this. The first is that they often start training when they are very young and therefore don't really appreciate how they are going to feel doing these things when they are older. The second is when they are now tied into a group and when asked to do things they aren't comfortable with by their company, they feel obliged to suck it up and do it for the sake of the group and their future. It's not easy to just leave when you aren't happy. In normal life, if you really don't like your job, you can aim to get yourself a different job. In kpop, when you have debts to the company, responsibilities to your group, and fame you can't just drop and it goes away, you are stuck in your roll in life. Luckily, with Stray kids and Seventeen, they have strong leaders that won't let the members be too far pushed out of their comfort zone. It helps that they are multi talented groups and aren't just pawns to their company. I pity many other groups that are given songs and choreography that are dictated to them. That's where, as sex sells, the company will be motivated to sexualise them especially. I'm not comfortable with the over- sexualisation in certain choreography, but you can still support the group by listening to the music and watchibg other content. They are doing what they do to get fans, so you aren't helping them if you don't support them.

That's why people who say that KQ is so great and perfect for me are simply blind to sexualization. Ateez's choreographies are full of moves that are simply meant to attract attention to their s€x organs. Their stage outfits also very often reveal their abs, or showing their abs is treated as a permanent element of the choreography. Even their rookie group Xikers already has such elements in its choreography. Additionally, Ateez's fans are mostly shippers of the members and I have the impression that idols treat providing romantic moments between themselves as fanservice. This is not normal and this behavior drives fans, which may even lead to a disaster in the future. Ateez members take part in creating their own choreography, which amazes me even more that their desire is to promote movements that are associated with s€x.

@@betxengi5388 We aren't blind to sexualization. However, Ateez isn't doing anything that other groups don't do. At the very least, no one was a minor when they debuted and they didn't start getting sexy concepts until they were an older group. Why you are choosing to pick out Ateez for this when Stray Kids have some of the most unhinged shippers out there is beyond me. Minsung, Hyunlix, Changlix - sound familiar? Shipping between Felix and Hyunjin got so bad that JYPE started separating them on air due to death threats that they were getting. Yes, KQ is a good company in all aspects. However, if the standard you're going by is whether or not idols are sexualized and fan service happens, literally no agency would pass that test. All of them play that game. 🙄🙄

The boy couldn't have been older than 18. I cringed. I could tell the young fellow was uncomfortable. The sad thing is that the young ones want this life, I think even if they are preyed upon. One of the Mom's said she didn't want her son to be a K-Pop Star, because she knew the dark side of the industry. Her son insisted. I was just thinking today that I wouldn't know what I would do if my son wanted this lifestyle. Thank God I don't have a South Korean son with these dreams. This video popped up after my thoughts. Some look so thin, gaunt and unhealthy. They are truly beautiful boys inside and out, and I just want to bring them home too feed and nurture them. Like my own sons. I do not like this behavior. I prefer it when something like this happens naturally, not just to show off. For me, TXT is, above all, musicians and in all their performances you can feel their passion for it. That's why their sexy side doesn't suit them for me. Of course, as idols they can sometimes feel horny, hight, be excited etc. and even without any dirty intentions they can look hot like that, but I have the impression that the company sometimes just forces it on them and it looks like fan service. There were situations where Soobin just didn't feel confident in an outfit that revealed too much, there were similar situations with Beomgyu or Kai, and in a few weeks the same members will dance killa choreography or gotta go. I'm sorry but it doesn't work for me. It's good that members are becoming self-confident, but that doesn't mean they have to be forced to sexualize themselves. Tinnitus and killa are simply songs that I don't even want to see performed because of the choreography

Thank you for making a video like this, as a multistan, I've seen so many fans saying disgusting things about male idols. It makes me so uncomfortable to see that fans who claim to care about their idols make inappropriate posts, fanfics, etc. about their bias. The things people say are so disgusting and it's so disappointing that they get away with it. Since I stanned Enhypen a little after their debut, I saw so many people saying weird things about Ni-Ki and Jungwon, especially Ni-Ki, who was the youngest. There were hundreds of fanfics about him, but he was barely 16 years old. It's so stupid how whenever someone talks about it, some people seriously think "oh you're too sensitive he looks fine doing the dance." He literally didn't choose the concepts or lyrics, even if he doesn't show any discomfort, it's still so disrespectful and inappropriate.

I think it's shocking and disturbing the way people praise Enhypen for being sexy when Ni-ki literally turned 18 just last year. You see people boycotting companies and getting mad over things like Eunchae dancing to smart or New Jeans singing cookie, and criticizing hybe for letting minor girls act too suggestive, the things Ni-ki did were straight up sexual, he was literally dancing on an award show while being cuffed with a red string when he was 14 YEARS OLD. not to mention him and Jungwon's Mix and Max choreography when he was 16 years old, that literally includes biting and strangling Jungwon. Do I even need to say anything about Bite me's lyrics? Sacrifice?? I was honestly horrified when these songs came out and the fact that fans embraced and loved them without any critic is insane and extremely problematic. And I say all of this as someone who loves Enhypen and Ni-ki. I think all of these young female idols 100% deserve this support and concern from fans, but this whole concept of sexualizing minor male idols is only the tip of the iceberg, this topic is so rotten it makes genuinly sad. I think the only solution is normalizing and making room for the idols themselves to state their take on this situation, this is the only way irrational fans would listen. But it's obviously a problem of itself sense companies, fans, idols and the industry at large makes no room for such serious and needed conversations.

I applaude you for covering this topic, the sexualization of male idols is a serious issue that has to be discussed about more often as it has been so normalized this year that they make it seem like it isn’t a problem, there were times where I would scroll on tiktok then land on a video where it sexualized an idol; roleplay, fancam angle and lives, if you’re confused about what I mean with fancam angles & lives i’ll explain it, certain fancams have an angle where their pants make it seem like they have a b*her leaving some fans to point it out, same with lives, there was a video I crossed paths with where mingi from ateez was innocently stretching and was trying to fix his sitting position, one of the comments said "why is he offering it", he wasn’t offering anything, he was just stretching, honestly i’m incredibly disgusted of how society turned out, an innocent thing can instantly turn dirty minded since of one’s mind, where do I even start with roleplay? As you know there are roleplays with some characters being a male k-pop idol, it can be wholesome, sad, angst, but unfortunately there is a disgusting version too, it got so bad that even enhypen’s official weverse account had to announce stuff regarding those topics, I honestly don’t understand how people sexualize male idols with a straight face, Imagine you are in their shoes, a male k-pop idol who’s not doing anything, yet they still find a way to sexualize you, Those certain people who sexualize k-pop idols don't realize that what they are doing is making a person uncomfortable, A REAL HUMAN BEING. I have a feeling that they DO know what they are doing but they continue doing it to feed their "delusions", Also you do not own k-pop idols, DO NOT harass/assault them, sexualize them or verbally abuse them, If you are the type of person who sexualizes not only male but female idols, I seriously hope you find help in the future.

I love how some people had a problem with older men being bunnies but then once it’s a male idol it’s not a problem?, and some stans wait for younger members to turn 18 bc in the stans eyes that’s legal age but the age of majority in Korea is 19. They are not only sexualizing a person they barely know they’re also sexualizing minors.

What is sad to me is that it seems a lot of male k-pop idols think of themselves like that too. A lot of them appear surprised when a fan doesn't want them to be sexy/show abs/acts like their boyfriend and it just makes me upset, because I like Stray Kids and other boygroups for their music, not their bodies or some boyfriend fantasy. Sure, they're handsome, but that's like, an afterthought for me, and certainly not a reason/excuse to sexualise them. I hope they know there are fans out there who don't view them purely as sexual fantasies/objects.

Yes this is so true and there’s also sexualization of asian men a lot too. My bf is korean and some of the comments he’s gotten is really creepy. He said it’s common for ppl to think asian men are more feminine as well, which i’ve noticed people talking about as well especially with the “pretty” comments instead of handsome lol. Anyways it’s just really weird and creepy. Honestly, if some idols have a “sexy” concept and they are adults they probably are fine with sexualization but if it’s like a random ass man on the street it’s soo weird (like with my bf lol)

Ironically, Jimin was the ONLY one in BTS who was ripped in the early days; it’s why much of the time he was styled with sleeveless shirts. He was also told to bear his abs during certain songs and he didn’t like it. Many (crappy) fans and antis from other fandoms accused him of being fat - apparently they didn’t know the difference between muscular and fat. He felt the pressure to go on a strict diet and he took it too far…it was affecting his health. He learned valuable lessons over the years; and having grown up and feeling secure within himself, he maintains a PROPER male modern dancer’s body: lean, flexible, strong core and muscular thighs. His body is perfect and he eats healthy - he has been eating healthy for a few years. He wasn’t suffering from anorexia…the difference is he felt forced to lose weight because of outside pressure. People with anorexia feel the pressure and need to diet/not eat within themselves. People need to learn the difference before they label other people.

some people might attack me for this, but sexualization of idols is what runs the industry, and yes it’s the harsh truth, that’s why they always come up with revealing dance moves and wear revealing clothes, being in the industry, they can’t escape it as it is a part of their job, because their job revolves around creating a parasocial relationships witht their fans and only by sexualizing themselves can they achieve this, yes not all are sexualizing these idols, but we cannot stop these fans being a fan to our fav idols, right? if they’re a fan who sexualizes their favs, then let them be, because it’s just the nature of working in this type of industry, not only kpop, but western too

I understand that but people also need to set boundaries. If the industry won't do it, at least do it yourself. I mean some of the things people do is just too much, debasing both the idols and themselves. I mean it doesn't mean just bec a man/woman is dancing sexily in front of you that you have the right to grab him/her. Even if the idol is dressed provocatively or does something saucy it should not be an excuse for the fans to sexually assault them (physically, verbally or psychologically or whatever). That's just sexual predator reasoning. The agencies are partly to blame ofc but this is also an industry and agencies follow what the fans want so if we want anything to change I think it is us fans who should take the lead on it.
@aznjr
@aznjr 7 ай бұрын
@@dianrongyu1326 that’s why i said in the reply, that it’s the fans’ responsibility, however do note that the idols should also know that they’re at risk of these things since they’re well aware that the music industry in general is full of sexualization, i’m not defending the fans, they’re crazy for doing those things but there’s partial responsibility towards the idols themselves since they willingly signed the contract to indulge in activities that are closely related to sexualization of themselves, however there are also idols who don’t consider these things and are just desperately wanting this job as they’re passionate in it, so really pity if they’re a victim to these things at the end of the day ☹️
@dianrongyu1326
@dianrongyu1326 7 ай бұрын
@@aznjr Yea, it’s an endless cycle unfortunately. Agencies market their idols in these hypersexualized concepts bec that’s what sells, and fans use the excuse of the idols being marketed in such a way to sexualize them. But in this dynamic, it’s us fans who hold more power. Agencies will regulate it if fans don’t buy it. Law of economics, supply and demand. If the fans do not demand it, the agencies will not sell it. At the end of the day, the entertainment industry is a business afterall.

I wrote a Substack on exactly this as regards Taemin. Go watch Heaven and his delivery of the words “bet you like that” and tell me it’s not disdain. It briefly got a few insults about my prudishness and that was it. Every now and then it gets to me. It’s an insult to years of work on a career as a singer, dancer and performer. I’m thinking it’s very young fans who think that the porn they see is cool and they should pretend to like it and they’ll be popular. I doubt they have ever had a decent relationship with a man. None of these fans would ever be able to meet the eyes of the people they talk about much less have any kind of relationship with them in person. The looks on the faces of Christian Wu, Jackson Wang and others on the thirst tweets videos are obviously an attempt to hide disgust. Honestly, I think the only thing to do is gently call them out on it. Remind them that what they put on the internet is forever. Maybe we need to start calling them Sexstans or Pornstans. Idols are not permitted to defend themselves from anything. Including this. I’m glad to find others have this opinion. But the young, stupid fans who are already screwed up by the online behavior of people during covid are really victims too. I don’t think I can share a link to the article I wrote but I’ll try. battarabbitandthecircusbear.substack.com/p/bet-you-like-that?r=tvlm4

It's like the so called fans also don't care if their idols are ok or not with all the stuffs they are posting abt them. From what I know, absolutely nobody will be comfortable with ppl obsessing and posting abt their body and private parts online. That is traumatizing. Fans need to get out of their fantasies and stop being so pathetically delusion. Don't think that you are a fan so now you've got the liberty to sexualize them. Get over it, the idols don't even know that you exist!! How will they ever be ok with a stranger posting sexual stuffs about them? It's so pathetic and disgusting. This NEEDS to stop.

Who else found it difficult to join bg fandoms as gg stans because how weirded out they were by the sexualisation from the fans because I did. I could not join the enhypen, bts, stray kids or nct dream fandoms. One had stalker filled fans, the other was filled with fans obsessed with sexualizing minors and one loved to infantalize grown men. It sucked because I actively liked the music from those groups at one point and I tried to get used to weird behaviours by the fandom but I just couldn't at the end of the day. Being a kpop fan is already strange enough. I don't need no more.

I don't even think that kpop stans are coming from a heart of gold when they speak up the about sexualization of female idols. To me it's more that it irks them because of their religious and cultural biases. For example I have never thought that the smart choreography was something sexy to look at because in my culture, where that type of choreography is danced to, it was never thought to be a sexual thing. I was disgusted with the kpop fans who thought it was. If you still don't understand me look at korea for example. In Korea short skirts are not nearly as seen as a sexual thing like they are in other countries so imagine people from other countries telling all Koreans to cover up. To me that just comes of foolish and insensitive.

I never went to the wattpad area of fan fiction coz i knew couldnt handle the smut and i have read some pretty wild books . For me it feel creepy coz its basically like reading p**n about someone you know without their consent so its in a way a form of sexual harrasment. Yes its part of fan culture and inevitable but would you be ok if someone wrote a graphic erotic novel on you ? I know i wouldn't. Some idols are ok to an extent but if their is one think about kpop stans it is that they will constantly push personal boundaries of artist and objectify them . Ateez are pretty chill with fan culture and indulge to an extent for fun , but when the idols are chill , the fans make it wild . I have seen so many edits of moments are completely normal edited to make it look se*ual and even graphic descriptions of what they think it would be like if ytwo of the idols they ship had s**. And boy was i shocked. Stays kept shipping and se*ualizing felix and yyunjin together that now they dont really interac that much on camera . They did say they are still very close behind the scenes but its obvious they are very mindful of how they interact now on camera so that fans dont get the wrong idea. Its fine inevitable that fans wouldn't objectify idols but do remember your boundaries and that idols are humans to.
