The yellow flowers in the fields are called ragwort. You’re hiking in one of my favorite places in the world. I’ve never had the guts to attempt a through hike of the N/S trail.

Interesting, I always thought it was mustard. The N/S is great first attempt at a thru-hike. Tons of places to cache food and water, plus easy bail out if needed. Thank you for watching!

Crushing the miles!! Especially through the horse trails. Shin splints are awful. Great job on finishing the trail. Cool video brother 👍🏻👍🏻

Well done, well done! It was great to see the parts of the trail that I missed. As much as I wish I would have done the whole thing with you, part of me is glad I didn't have to stomp through all those miles of muddy horse trail! That first day was WET. I love the shots of the lake, especially the waves over the rocks, and the dramatic skies. Nice closeups of the flowers and mosses too. I'm sorry you had such a rough time with your ankles. I know the feeling, and I only had 50% of what you dealt with. Congrats for seeing it through and finally completing the North South Trail! Those bloopers are absolute classics 🤣 They had me cracking up. Thanks for all the hard work, and I'll see you soon, brother!

Thanks brother! That first day was definitely wet, but it didn't dampen the fun! We were so glad you were still able to join. The tail tried to take me down again, but I wasn't going to let it happen. 3rd time's a charm 🤣

@@Smokeybeesnatural It really didn't want you to finish it! It's just a cruel trail, I guess. I'm glad I could join you guys for part of it. Maybe one day I'll do the whole thing...

Enjoy! As long as you mentally prepare for the horse trail section, it's not as bad. Bushwacking along side of the trail wasn't too tough either. The first time I attempted the trail, I was sloshing through flooded horse trail, due to multiple thunderstorms. Thank you for watching!

@@Smokeybeesnatural looks like about 7 miles of the southern portion is currently closed so hopefully we can bypass some of the horse trails! Thanks man!
@Smokeybeesnatural
@Smokeybeesnatural Жыл бұрын
Did they say why? Don't forget the closure up north due to tornado damage. The detour isn't bad, but not the best marked.

@@spencermccormick299 I remember some, but it was passable with some minor bushwacking. Not sure worth closing for. ENJOY!

nice hike! so green! you may already be aware of this, but if not, maybe it will help you in the future. heel striking when you walk or run causes shin splints. if you change up your foot strike to midfoot, it should fix you up. i used to get them as well, but after some googling and modification to my footfall, i stopped having issues. happy trails! 🙂

Good one, brother!! I really enjoyed your panning shots of both the lake and the fields. That IBIS is treating you well. Did you shoot in 60fps for those shots? I also like you switching to B roll shots while you were talking, that does wonders for engagement. Those feet weren’t too bad 😉🤣. So glad you were able to finally finish this beast of a trail! Congrats! On to the next one 💪🏻
@Smokeybeesnatural

What don't kill you makes you stronger 💪 💯 🤣 All footage was in 24fps, even the pans. I tried to keep my hands steadier and panned slower. I may try a higher frame rate or shutter speed next time, to see if they're smoother. Or maybe even a slomo and pan faster. I keep meaning to layer my talking head moments with B-roll. This time I remembered 😆 Thank you tackling this trail with me!

Sorry 🤣 After an hour of shuttling cars back, deciding on what we wanted, driving an hour to realize it was closed, finding a new place, and my ankles stiffening up, I didnt bother 🤣. It was good though!

I really enjoying watching your hike. My daughter and I hiked the Northern section a couple years ago and plan to hike the Southern section soon. What did your GPS show as the total mileage for the Southern section? I hear that water sources are pretty scarce, is that accurate?
@Smokeybeesnatural
@Smokeybeesnatural Жыл бұрын
My GPS watch died on me so I'm not sure. Maps say 30 miles. There's water available from Golden Pond to Cedar Pond, but after that it's was all but none! The southern section south of cedar pond had an area with tons of tornado debris, but not sure if it's cleaned up yet. Passable with a bit of bushwacking. Thank you for watching!

@@Smokeybeesnatural Thanks! As far as the Beef Stroganoff goes, I agree that it's tasty but I'm not sure it's worth the middle-of-the-night side effects :)
