It's great to see Amleth slowly realizing the rules of the game. He knows warfare, and excels at it. Eventually he knows its allowed to do just like he would on the battlefield and just batters his opponents into submission until the odds are as even as possible. Then he plays for the ball again, retaining his honor unlike The Mountain who goes out of his way to hurt the other players.

'viking' was a job titled that basically just mean 'pirate' or 'raider' which is a rather dangerous job that requires a planned approach when attacking a fortified settlement. So yeah. Vikings had to act tactically and be trained/equipped properly.

Looks to me a bit like Hurling.... a little more physical perhaps in that the stick can be used to hit your opponent as well as the ball. It would also appear that you can punch and kick your opponent. I'm sure that there must have been a few GAA matches in times past that have descended into something a little like this clip.
