​@@stretch90 I thought I was the only one. I only stream these days to take a look at Dolby vision when it is missing on the discs. I spend about 3 minutes and have to turn it off because the quality especially the sound is so bad. Compressed Atmos is a real joke.

@@a-v-karin7617 Dolby Atmos is lossless. Dolby Digital (which is all streaming can handle) is lossy. (So basically a lossy 7.1.4.) So lossy Atmos vs lossless Atmos is about as easy a decision as DD/DTS vs Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HDMA. Not even a close call, the disc wins. And also, Disney couldn’t mix sugar into coffee let alone mix a proper Atmos track for disc or streaming.

I pre-ordered this as soon as it was announced. I went to the theaters and was blown away, and was disappointed to hear it was a boxoffice failure. So when the disc hit physical I wanted to fully support it.

This was the first film I saw at a Dolbe enhanced theater, and it was a wonderful experience. I don’t have a 4k set-up, but the blu ray is still stunning and one of the most striking films I’ve seen. Definitely in my top 20 and on the edge of my top 10.

Loved this transfer and how he used all natural light even in the darkest scenes (using only the light from the fires, etc.). Just for fun I had to check out the stream on Peacock because I knew it would look like a hot mess. It didn’t disappoint (as in, it was as bad as expected) and proves once again why the disc needs to be the way you watch it! Another great review! Krueger and Myers approved!

Streaming is such trash. My wife was watching Twister the other day on Netflix. I only watched the first few minutes but the print was disgusting, strewn with near-constant dirt. My Blu of the film is somewhat dated but still drastically superior.

This was a day 1 purchase for me. Saw it in Dolby opening weekend and it’s my favorite Hollywood movie of this year easily. Saw it again at my local art house and then watched the 4K disc with the commentary. The special features were nice for a new release and I loved the picture/sound. 10/10 all around

I watched Dr. Strange on streaming yesterday. And it looked better than most of the 4k Blus I have. I was astonished by the picture quality, and having IMAX enhanced really helps. This is still not the case with a lot of streaming but it proves they can do it if they want to. And it proves it is coming.

I just bought it today in 4K. Streaming just doesn't hold a candle to the full quality of what a physical disc can provide. It should look amazing on my Sony 4K OLED.

I had that same problem with Obi-Wan Kenobi. the 6th episode where they had night scenes. I couldn't see anything. it was all washed out in black. I didn't know streaming can't handle night scenes?! I do remember hearing about the Game of Thrones episode.

I just got into blu rays and 4k blu rays a few months ago and my very first 4k disc purchase was The Revenant, a film tailor made for the 4k disc, very similar probably to The Northman, i.e. lots of great outdoor scenery with natural lighting, often times at night and dawn/dusk.

I'm on vacation this coming week, and one of the plans is to catch up on some of the unwatched movies that have been piling up in my collection and this may very well be one of them.

I waited nearly a month for this film to be in stock again and it was well worth the wait. I was not able to see it in theaters and I did not want to watch it on a streaming service. I only watched one trailer for this film and went in completely blind. I was blown away by how great it was. Definitely one of my favorite films of the year and the 4k is gorgeous.

I honestly believe that if you buy it on AppleTV that it’s not bad. If you think HBO has about 16b/s however AppleTV is 42b/s. So honestly it’s a big improvement, I personally had no issue watching it. However a 4K fist is 82b/s so nearly double e amount. But for half the price on AppleTV for half the bits, I’m a huge 4K person. But honestly didn’t have a problem with Apple TV. Usually ONLY watch things on disc but I thought I’d watch this film though AppleTV. I was happy :)

I don't know why it says "Collectors Edition" I work in retail and I saw the words "Collectors Edition" on the Blu-Ray and the DVD. Same thing on Ambulance and The Bad Guys. I don't know why Universal are putting it on everything. Just a little fact I should put that it is not only on the 4k version. This seems to be a real Disney moment. Btw, saw The Northman twice in theaters, loved it, #3 film of 2022 in my opinion, and the disc is easily demo quality and in my top ten 4k Discs. The best 4k disc of the year other than Dune.

I had no issue finding it locally. I picked it up at Target yesterday. This is absolutely phenomenal on 4K UltraHD. I had zero interest streaming it on Peacock. This is a demo disc. Enjoy it!

Im glad you addressed streaming this on Peacock Jeff. I saw this in theaters and i did not get passed the opening moments when i decided to stream it. I turned it off. The soundtrack was full force and loud in theaters and in streaming, even on my atmos system it was weak! Will def be picking the 4k disk up!

So many people streamed that episode that they all complained that “nothing was on the screen, why was it filmed like this?” Well, it was on screen, but the stream just obliterated the detail. I just told someone else watching an epic show or an epic movie on a stream is like listening to Handel’s Messiah on a kazoo, because the quality loss is that staggering.

Recommending Shadow on 4K disc, especially as it's relatively unheard of in the UK. Oldboy meets Crouching Tiger. It's filmed in a similar style to 300. Absolutely stunning to look at.
