The "What Do You Want" dialogue was made up by Gosling. It was not scripted. The part about the younger Allie and Noah in the book is better, but the movie is nice. People try to take it out of the 1940s and put it in the 1990s. He isn't a bad boy and he never, ever takes advantage of her. There is no Ferris Wheel in the book . Her pulling down his pants is just as dangerous as him hanging and she does become a real brat at times. It is a very small town with a lot of farmers and fisherman near the coast and everyone goes to bed early.

Why shouldn't they come together. If everything was okay with Lon, she would not have gone. In the book Lon is 8 years older, is a lawyer and wants to be in politices and she is bored and has never even had sex with him. First time since she lost Richard because Noah has never lied to her about his feelings.
