The Nothing Phone (2) is a terrible value in my opinion, but its a cool phone. The Nothing Phone 2 is a new phone from nothing following the Nothing Phone 1, it's unique, stylish, and simple but this time, they really messed it up.

Switched from iPhone 12Pro to Nothing Phone 2 and I am satisfied like I never was with iPhones. Great device, fast, great build, looks good. For me it is great value for that money. The price of the new iPhone 15 Pro for example is absolutely indefensible in this comparison.Just the idea that I would pay twice the price for 15 Pro is nonsense.

Okay so this kind of video is just bad. You are just speculating and focusing on things you find negative while not having any experience with any of those products (both Nothing or OnePlus). Here is a real take from someone with actual experience with both those products. I have been a big android user for years, from Samsung to nexus, to OnePlus to pixel, back to OnePlus and more. I was using OnePlus 8 pro when nothing Phone 1 released. Switched to Nothing phone 1 to check it out fully expecting to go back to OnePlus as it was a better phone spec wise. Never did, used the nothing phone 1 for the whole year because it just functions much better than the OnePlus. The camera was worse, the chipset was worse, heck the screen was worse but the software was so good and consistently getting improved with updates that it just felt faster, more responsive, cleaner, fresher and actually felt like a product that was actually evolving and improving over time compared to the oneplus which felt like every time a software update came out it became more sluggish and buggy or had some useless feature that nobody asked for. Oneplus released the 11 and i thought I'd wait to see what nothing did for phone 2. When the Phone 2 released, hardware wise I wasn't particularly impressed, i wont lie, but the phone 1 experience had been so refreshingly good that even comparing it to the OnePlus paper specs I trusted nothing to release something that would be a better experience than i had with oneplus in the past so i ordered the nothing phone 2 12GB/512GB variant. I have been using the nothing phone 2 for almost 2 weeks now. I can confidently say its a better experience than any other android phone i have used to this point other than the cameras, the cameras need work. The differentiator here is the software. This is why your spec sheet wrap list thing and with you not having used the phone fails you. The nothing software is next level optimised, there is no bloat, the design is great, the chipset breezes through everything you throw at it and the battery life is next level, I've even once had 12 hours screen on time in one charge. I use the phone for gaming (genshin impact and honkai star rail) and it never skips a beat, the changes to the interface are clean, classy, fresh and its just so responsive that its a joy to use plus I trust it to get better and better over time like the phone 1 did unlike the direction OnePlus has gone since merging os with colour os and adding a bunch of junk to the os over time. The spec sheet isnt what defines the phone in this case and without having hands on experience that is why you dont understand it. There are improvements to be made, camera being the primary one but nothing did make a bunch of meaningful improvements to the phone 1 camera via software updates over time and im hopeful for the same here but we will have to see how that goes, so far the first update improved low light performance but it still needs work. That being said, in my primary phone I'm looking for the best experience a product will give me. I like a clean stock smooth reliable phone and have always followed whatever company is providing me that which is why i went from samsung to nexus to OnePlus to pixel, back to oneplus and now finally with nothing atm. This is one of the best software experiences on a phone right now. Oh and as for the glyph stuff, its just nice to have, do I use it, sometimes, mainly the flip to glyph to silence the phone when im at dinner with friends and the glyph timer when I'm cooking something on the stove and want to have a visual indicator while im still chopping up other ingredients or have left to work on my pc, it just gives me an easy way to peek at it and know how much time I have left without picking up the phone, other than that its just kinda a unique feature that my friends ask about every now and then but I dont see it as a reason to get the phone or anything. Get the phone if you want a product that feels great to use, you want a fun, well designed, reliable and fresh take on android and you want to support a brand that is focusing on software and design to improve its products over time rather than just the best specs at the lowest price. Now someone with experience has told you what the hype is.

Everyone is finding faults in Nothing. It's has launched just two products. From an consumer's point of view it's great to have a new competitor in the market. Everything is not about hardware, software experience matters the most which Google has been providing with pixels. It's great to have an alternative with bloatware free software experience.

Im not getting how this phone is terrible value at all. Sure its not amazing value but compared to pixel 7 at retail which everyone universally praised as great value this phone has a much faster and more efficient processor even if its technically not the newest chip, it has a bigger display (pro or con depending on preference) and smaller uniform bezels with a faster refresh rate and ltpo tech. Having used both phones the battery life is DRAMATICALLY better on the nothing phone in most cases literally double the sot for my use. Charging is 30-40 minutes faster to 100%. The cameras and haptics are considerably better on the pixel, but the camera on the nothing is reasonable for the price it just doesnt compete with the top dogs. Also forgot to mention the pixel lights itself on fire constantly and the cell reception+ fingerprint reader are unreliable at best. All that coupled with a fun unique design why wouldn't a tech enthusiast want to support a new brand so were not just stuck with Apple, Google and Samsung every year

Bigger battery Design it's a preference Performance both flagship if 1 is better it's fine but just like the snap8 gen1 isnt the newest chip and Still preforming well that the same for the pixel Now pixel is offering more for the same price but oh no some pixel phones got issues 😢 Well just like you'r waiting for the Np2 camra to get better by updates so does pixel users Android 14 beta already helping and the experience is better Same goes for the nothing Overall for the same price pixel did it better

First of all, I appreciate that this is one of the few videos that voice a critical opinion about the phone 2 but I think in the end it comes down to the personal definition of value. I don’t own a phone 2 but I am planning to buy one because my trusty OnePlus 5T is on its way out. Of course, the glyph is somewhat of a gimmick, but I like the notification led a lot and also place my phone often screen down on the table. Combining both doesn’t sound like a bad idea. I am a fan of (somewhat) stock android, what the Pixel could provide, but I just find the Pixel with this “bar” on the back unappealing. I know, it sounds superficial, but I don’t buy a phone that I consider ugly. On the other side, Samsung phones have also never appealed to me. Both my parents have been using Samsung phones for many years, but the software doesn’t appeal to me. The OP 11 could be considered as interesting but I have to assume that today’s OnePlus is not the OnePlus that I learn to love all those years ago. Plus, OP has licensing problems here in Germany and therefore can’t sell phones on the German market. It would be possible to buy it somewhere ells in the EU, but I don’t want to take the chance that my phone gets location locked randomly one day in the future. Plus, I don’t fancy buying a new phone from a Chinese company when alternatives exist. That’s my reason why I plan on buying the phone 2.

Your video confuses me. The first half you say you don’t understand why someone would buy this phone over another that had better specs for a similar price. Then in the second half you outline all the reasons why someone would in fact by this phone. Design…. People will pay and even prioritise design over functionality. What’s so hard to understand that? It might be different to how you prioritise your purchases (which is fine) it doesn’t however mean another’s is wrong. Specially when you even say a lot of phones look the same, this phone stands out and spec wise you aren’t really going to notice in day to day performance. I think you answered your own question.

4:20 the reason oneplus can sell for cheaper is 1. bcs they are a bigger company and can get the hardware for cheaper and bcs they don't spend nearly as much on software development also it's only chinese companies that have their own proprietary fast charging technologies which allow to charge at high wattages with good thermal management other companies simply can't match that (samsung, google, apple, ...) resolution doesn't rly matter (try to get as close to your phone that you can differentiate pixels, bet you're not going to be able to, this is something apple realized 10 years ago and they call it retina displays) same as "extended ram" this is sadly still used as a marketing gimmick today using more zram or swap than needed is literally just stupid it wears down your storage faster and increases cpu load

with nothing you are paying also for a way better support for the device and a lot closer customer to company connecion, also you pay for a lot of design work and the only company that makes 1 phone a year and puts a lot of care into it (in android phones). in short you pay for having a company that actually cares. why care about what soc is inside they made 788g + in np1 perform way ahead of similar power chips and even the same one in other phones, making it almost flagship performance, why pay for brand new soc when hardly anyone will notice a diffrence and it will ramp up the price significantly, also gen 1 is way better with keeping lower heat and better optimized, company had way more time to work on it. this phone is great and way better than op11 with how good it feels to use everyday, way better ui, propably its battery will hold up way better as 80w charging is bad long term.
