The Notion that An American actor Can't play The Doctor in Doctor Who

The BBC couldnt afford a decent non-british actor/actress. I have no doubt there are dozens of quality performers from the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand who could do it proficiently though.

@@Jimbojo good thing The BBC has nothing to do with the production @BadWolfStudios is and Disney is giving a lot of money towards towards production

​@@MeidasWhovianAdvocate​@MeidasWhovianAdvocate as far as I'm aware the show is co-produced by bad wolf and BBC Studios Productions who have the final say on financial distribution. Aso given that the money is sourced at least in part from the television licence fee this means they get to choose salaries and fees. I am however happy to be corrected if something has changed.

There are multiple, well established and high quality actors from the UK who would accept the role for minimal pay. If there is an unknown US actor of a high enough calibre who is willing to accept.minimal recompence then its certainly a possibility. I have no doubt that there are Foreign actors CAPABLE of performing the role. My suspicion is that the people responsible for.hiring the role will look for a known, established, quality performer from the UK because traditionally its a British actor in a British role.
