Welcome to my Channel; Novice Modelling and the Midlife Crisis. This is a quick vid of some recent purchases I made on Ebay, from a vendor i regularly buy some rather interesting and obscure smaller European WW2 era Air Force kits from; because that's kinda my thing. I am relatively new to both this modelling malarkey and Youtubing lunacy. My intention is to learn the various techniques required to successfully produce half decent KZbin videos and of course learn the variety of skills required to produce half decent looking models. Hi Andy. Santa must have thought " Oh no he's been buying again". Your right about 'Das Boot'. I remember when it first aired , I loved it. The scene that I really like is when they rendevous with another U-Boat in the Atlantic in rougb seas. That scenne is spectacular. So I look forward to seeing your review of this kit. The schnellboot is a beast of a kit. 1/35th scale ! Wow. Your gonna need a bigger bath to play with. I bet that there ias a shedload of aftermarket stuff for it , especially your favourite. Etched brass 😆. Your a sucker for punishment with those Jays/Ventura kits , but hey thats your bag. Now you will just have to start making them. Its because of one of those kits that I started watching you. Remember the Black and Decker sander? So I have been watching you since. I enjoy your delivery and your enthusiasm. You remind me of me , a bit. I hole that you haven't minded my advice and tips over the year. I remember you once said of me that I was like an encyclopaedia. I thought that was funny. Merry Christmas Brian, TBH not sure why but for whatever reason i thought Das boot was a bit of a bore fest the first time i saw it about 30 odd years ago, though like a good wine or single malt it got better with age and i now appreciate it for the classic it is. LOL i have no need of a bigger bath, i live close to the river Alyn which most of the year is little more than a stream, though when it rains heavy and the rains poor off the Clwydian Range, it bursts it banks and the field next door to it turns into an approx 100m x 400m 1m deep flood plain, ideal for an e-boat floating session me thinks PMSL. I figure Das boot at £30 is a good practice kit for nautical weathering/rusting before i tackle the E-boat or my big USS Fletcher at some future point. Yes there are a few add on's, to the E-boat though i think at 1/35 it'll be good enough for me as is, it comes with a brass sheet, and i will be getting the figure kit at some point. LOL the Black & Decker was not used until the Starkit Mustang turned up but the Ventura/Jays kits are a bit of a "thing" for me, as well they were my first big channel "HIT" apart from the "haul" vids which TBH are in real "KZbin" terms not really financially viable, but have provided me now with some valuable lessons and the foundation to move the channel along in a not so insane way, my Y/T earnings now stand at £980 for 6 months so in 10 years time i might actually see a profit out of this "model making malarkey" PMSL. i have also struck up a bit of an unexpected relationship (he contacted me) with the owner of Jay's kits and possibly in the future, if this little planned feature over the next couple of months is successful, it will give me the confidence/balls to go to a bigger kit manufacturer and say "Hello". Your tips and advice and that of others are always appreciated, but i ask for patience as my aim is to continue with trying to upload 5-7 vids per week, and this is obviously a big strain on my available time and am therefore unable to proceed at perhaps the rate of skill improvement that i may have achieved, if i was just pursuing this hobby as well a hobby. Its an interesting thing that many KZbinrs avoid the comments section, some advise it for a myriad of reasons, but i actually find it one of the most enjoyable parts of having a channel. An old school chum of mines wife was a BIG thing on Y/T 6-7ish years ago as a nail tech, had a 14 million vid, was on Breakfast TV and was very succesful for a limited time etc etc, but things turned salty shortly afterwards, she was always a bit of a "look at me type" actually had me round her house for a CH4 or CH5 TV program with one of Alan Sugars "Apprentice" wannabees Raef Bijou for a program called "Christmas for a £1", i am quite happy with having my hands on camera and thats about it PMSL, i've a;rready had my 5 mins of fame LOL. Anyway hope all is well with you, will be starting the Iron Maiden Spit tomorrow whilst quaffing my Iron Maiden "Darkest Red". Be seeing you .

Nice gift haul. Love that Italeri torpedo boat. One of my favorite sets from when I was a kid was a 1/72 torpedo boat. Still have it, unpainted, and would like to finish it and also build some more of those so I just got another in 1/72 from Revell. Strong price on that Italeri but quite the set so has to go on the list. Got some nice old Airfix 1/600 ship sets for christmas. H.M.S. Iron Duke (1980), H.M.S. Nelson (1973), H.M.S. Ark Royal (1976) and H.M.S Belfast (1976). All boxes and innards in good condition so quite pleased with that. The H.M.S. Nelson box has a blue/yellow logo instead of red/white. Hasn't seen much of that.

@flightis3dollars LOL i had the 1/72 PT109 when i was a kid, if i remember right it had a gloss, chocolate brown coloured deck and that was it. i think i did ok on the Schnell boot for price, Italeri do another the S100 which is a bit more sporty looking but the price refused to budge at £170 on Amazon. Sounds like you have a bit of a Brit navy on the go, i'd like to get a few but for now i'll stick with the cards i have LOL

@@delcatto60 Yeah, the problem with the Mk.1 is that we don't have the mould for it. It was converted to the Mk 2 and up, ie. with no turret. You can still buy the the Oxford but you'll need to cut the opening for the turret yourself. The turret parts are sold as a Tasman Accessory set TA235

The Wirraway yes interesting, originally made by Tasman in Kiwiland, they also did a Boomerang that is now produced by Jays also, i think my Tasman Boomer was at the L/h side of the shot, didn't make it fully into view though.

Well this certainly is not a modelling channel, anyone else think that gloating about splashing the cash a bit strange, it’s there really any need to quote the price? .As a modeller and manufacturer, I would far prefer to see 2-3 quality builds a year from this guy or even some actual modelling. Hello there @historex54tamiya and thanks for watching ermmmm i am sorry you are displeased though i am not gloating about splashing the cash, i work an ordinary job for ordinary wages. I am actually engaging on a bit of a journey, starting from scratch with NO skills or experience. i Have about 600 kits yes insane i know, but my intentions are to build up my skills over a lengthy period (i call it my 10 year plan or BIG PLAN) the collection i have acquired offers me great variety and choice and my intention is to use this in a series of videos called "you choose my next build" (i have experimented with this already and it is a fun way to engage with my viewers and involve them in the channel) where i give the viewers the choice from 4-6 thematic kits of which one i build next. Lets say currently i am also engaging in "channel building" these haul vids help build my channel and are kind of unique/odd/insane (i am very aware of what i am doing), unfortunately you cant please everyone but my tactic has been relatively successful over the past 10 months. lets also say that not being "rich" i am also utilizing KZbins payment for people who produce channels and over the 10 years that i envisage it will take to build however many kits from my collection, i may well recoup a fair portion of the rather insane financial outlay that has been expended. Also hopefully during this time i will have found myself with the necessary skills both in kit building and vid production to produce the quality builds that you desire. furthermore i would like to point out that when i started daydreaming about building kits again i watched many vids of KZbinrs producing amazing works of art and to be completely honest with you i found it discouraging, how was i ever going to produce something like that? it takes a ,lot of time and effort, 10 years perhaps? now you may have been building for years and may produce such masterworks but for people starting out these skills take years to perfect, i actually find it encouraging that many viewers contact me and say they are starting on the same journey, some have actually rejoined this hobby because of my self identified persona as a "muppet who makes models badly" and the fact i have no shame in the rather mediocre kits i have so far built, one or two have even started dabbling in youtube vids themselves. So to round off i think what i am trying to say is that my channel represents myself, a middle aged bloke having fun and building kits, not doing any harm, and i am genuinely sorry if you dont like my content but i am genuinely surprised at the amount of positivity i get from my viewers. hopefully in a year or so i may consider changing the channel name to "MediocreModellingandtheMidlifeCrisis, i have no intention of raising the bar any further.
