I remember finding this album in a box in my Gradparents attic when I was 9 years old (1963) and they let me keep it. I played untill it untill couldnt be played anymore, and I was sad when I had to throw it away! I looked everywhere for years but couldnt find another one .Years later, I would tell my 10 year old Daughter about it and try to sing the songs to her, then one day at a Christmas bazzar, I found a 45 of 4 of the songs from the album, we used to play it and sing all the time, she loved it! They were the best of times!!👍🐿

When the Squirrels performed live, they each had a tube in the side of their mouths which led to a small tank of helium they would wear on their backs. This gave them a unique live vocal sound.

I was raised on this. My siblings and I would dance around our living room to this album that My father bought during his college years. I'm 58, almost 59 now and still remember that our favorite song was "Salt Peanuts". My Dad played drums in a jazz band on weekends during the '60s. Good memories.

Hey,do you remember when you moved the album back and forth the green guitar would move on it's own. Till this I don't know how that worked.

I read somewhere that Cannonball Adderly is among the session musicians, but I don't see him listed here. Interestingly, Granville Burland also wrote at least one of the 'What's My Line' theme pieces as well as the original Alka-Seltzer jingle, 'No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In)' which later morphed into a hit record when recorded by 'The T-Bones' who are now known to us as the Wrecking Crew. When the producers of 'No Matter What Shape' needed a real T-Bones touring band to promote the song, and the Wrecking Crew refused to tour, a group of musicians was thrown together as the T-Bones, and they would later morph into Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds.

Although it was considered a novelty record the music was really good classical jazz with smooth groove. I love this album.

My dad brought this album for us when we were kids, had to hear it again. Thanks for posting it.

'Bang' could have been written by Mancini himself! All of Mancini's signatures are there. Fun album.

For all they're remembered as nothing but an Alvin ripoff, this is pretty good. Nice harmonies and catchy tunes. It's easy to see why they actually had some measure of success while other Alvin clones just sank without a trace.

....they weren't a clone, they were first. Much greater musical integrity, certainly much less benign than the commercial c/monks.

How they did this . . . with the (lack of) technology that existed at the time . . . is quite amazing.

it was easy actually, the singer sang really slow and when they speeded the song the result was this.
