The NYPD Commissioner buried her case against one of its officers

When Brianna Villafane took to the streets of New York City in the summer of 2020 to protest police violence, she did not expect to be the victim of it. Although a police oversight agency found that an NYPD officer’s behavior toward her during that protest constituted significant misconduct, Villafane’s case was buried. Meanwhile, the officer that attacked her has been promoted - twice.
A ProPublica investigation found that Police Commissioner Edward Caban has unilaterally buried a number cases of police misconduct through a little-known power called retention, which involves stopping a case before it reaches disciplinary trial and short-circuiting the oversight and disciplinary process altogether.

Yeah it's real lawful for a 250 lb slob to throw an 85 lb girl on the ground because she had a cardboard sign, she wasn't armed the only weapon she had was the sign maybe if that fat cop knew how to read this case wouldn't have to be buried. That cop should be made an example of how not to arrest people. They didn't teach grabbing hair of an non violent person in the academy. Breaking curfew doesn't mean you get treated the way she was treated. I don't agree with either side but definitely disagree with the way the cop behaved. He could have arrested her without having to use such force!

At the end of the video she is being arrested not "randomly attacked" like she implies even though the ponytail takedown should get oversight from that officer's department. The video of what happened before the officer pushes away from the other arrest was edited out and it wasn't mentioned what she did right before that edit. If the officer was acting legally then there's no reason to not have full disclosure. It's okay whenever it's something you agree with. If someone is standing there with a sign no a policeman cannot push them and drag them by the hair down to the ground. And the FACTS are that a lot of people that were protesting peacefully or not protesting at all were victims of aggressive violent police interactions there are many videos where there were people who were not doing anything violent that were attacked by police officers. If she was breaking the law then they would be all about showing this video from the get-go!
