I think her aura and persona in general is so unique and off-tempo to most people, that when she tries to make a joke, it doesn’t come across too well. It’s in her writing too in The OA. I’m pretty similar; I’ll say something sarcastic, or as a joke, but I’m not really that great at modulating my voice, nor expressive. So, it just ends up monochromatic and serious.
