Have to agree with the OP. I don't see that stadium getting built al with all the factors working against it. First of all, they don't seem to have the money to build it. Then on top of that is on an 8-9 acre parcel of land? That's not how current MLB teams operate when considering new stadiums. They want a lot of surrounding land to build business districts to maximize profits. The A's can't do this with this land. It would make much more sense to build it elsewhere in Vegas just due to this. All the while Utah is breathing down the neck of any MLB relocation with 900 million of public funding already allocated for an MLB team. A site to build a new stadium with over 100 acres perfect to build a business/sports district around. Easy access public transportation that goes right to the site already. Also an ownership group already ready to make the purchase. I think this becomes another Expos/Arizona Coyotes situation. MLB buys the team and sells them. Maybe it's to a different Vegas ownership group with a different idea. All I know is that rendering for the Sydney Opera House in Vegas looks so Mickey Mouse. The capacity is a joke too. FWIW, TB faces a different issue. Building in St Pete is not going to change anything with their current issues. MLB in Florida just hasn't worked.

I will always love Mt. Davis. It's the only thing worth mentioning about the stadium. When the Coliseum is demolished they need to save Mt. Davis. It should either go on top of the new stadium and be proudly displayed as a unique spire or be sent to a museum. That thing deserves national protection. I grew up watching the A's and Raiders in Oakland. These past 8 years or so, have killed my love for sports. Both of these teams needed to be sold to groups connected with the Bay Area. Now, the A's are going to be relegated to a bottom feeder franchise with no fan support. The Haas family loved the Bay Area, and wanted to keep the baseball tradtion strong allowing the Giants control over the South Bay. The Giants shouldve returned the favor. I guess its moot now, but its like these sports leagues and franchises cant see the forrest through the trees scenario.

The NHL bought into Vegas as the first franchise to arrive. The tragic event that happened before the first game. It's Vegas not anyone else's team coming from Oakland. The raiders are their own unique franchise anywhere. The A's are going to have to provide a winner or I think they will still have bad attendance.

@@sirchi8731 No. ownership needs to care for their team for fans to want to show up. You create a good product to get sales, you don't expect sales before providing the good product. And ownership should pay for their own stadium. Oakland did secure millions in grants for public support of a new stadium, though. MLB wants a team in Vegas badly, and the a's never negotiated in good faith with the city.

The Golden Knights are, as they say "Vegas Born" and people in Las Vegas bought into it. The Raiders already had a huge local fanbase in Las Vegas, but even so, other teams travel well for football and they have no real home-field advantage. The A's will be dead on arrival. Vegas has too much other stuff to do in the summer, so unless the A's put out unimaginable deals and discounts for locals (free parking, steep discount on ticket prices, maybe discounts on food/drinks) we're not going to show up to the games.

I agree with the fact that the new stadium's left field has to be more fan friendly oppose than having such a giant pandemic view of the strip's skyline. Meanwhile, our local social media informant, Vegas Pauly C(eeee) updated recently concerning the "delusional" Bally's ambitious financial wishes. They're struggling with other projects in other parts of the country and it's doubtful that this stadium project will come to reality.

There are open air stadiums with hot and humid conditions in the US. Think St Louis, or Cincinnati. However, you are not understanding that it doesn't reach max temp say 101 until 6 pm. most of the morning and early afternoon it goes from 60s up into 90s as the day progresses. That is why the Rivercats play day games.

It is not just London in the UK, but with regular season games in Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Australia, and even China. Considering the long flights involved, the MLB teams desire to play a three or four game series abroad as the home team maybe in more than one of these venues. MLB teams wish to have that option and not be tied down to their minimum full season leases. Eight out of Eighty-one home games is not too much to ask, seventy-three homes games is still a lot of games. All of these other nations baseball fans desire regular season games that count, not exhibition games that don't... Of course, instead of eight home games, maybe three or four home games would make a great compromise for ALL of the MLB teams, not just the Las Vegas A's... As I recall London desired a certain team, but that team didn't desire to break their lease... You can't spread baseball worldwide with teams tied down to full regular season leases...

The only way this makes any sense is if the A's want to build a more statewide brand and play two 4 game series in Reno. There's no city in the US that makes sense for the A's to play "home games" in that isn't their own stadium besides Reno if they're trying to build a local and statewide fanbase. DG is right that the only other thing that really makes sense is international games. I think you'd have to go big in this case and do something that's gambling themed along with Las Vegas. So in that sense, something like Macau comes to mind for me.

The Oakland A's have a fascinating history and are my 2nd favorite Baseball team. However, their ownership is greedy and self-destructive. The Giants play less than 20 minutes away. It looks like they will be stuck in Sacramento. Does Vegas even want the A's or even a Baseball team in general? This nomadic team approach opens up all kinds of doors.
