Literally everyone in the rebellion was an oathbreaker. At the last minute even Tywin was an oathbreaker. This is why Jamie has no chill. The hypocrisy melted his knightly brain.

Yeah, I feel he made a decent point when he talked about the fact that some Oaths were hard to keep when under such a circumstance I mean, with a king like Aerys, or Maegor or Aegon the Unworthy, you've got to consider what "serving" them entails. Jamie obeyed more Oaths than he broke the day that he killed Aerys.

Do you mean Elia or Lyanna? Because if it's the former, he wasn't going to be able to help at all, and if it's the latter, that's because Rhaegar ordered his top 3 loyalist kingsguard to guard the Tower of Joy sans Selmy who went with him. So someone had to guard the king and Jamie was the best choice because Rhaegar knew Tywin would come defend the Keep. Which would've happened had he survived.

it is unexpected for someone in such a position of power to be clinging to a vow of poverty and humility, especially as they are normally linked to the Hand or some other person in power. The best knights to wear the white such as Aemon the Dragonknight, Barristan Selmy and Arthur Dayne were rare cases, not the general rule. Some like Harald Westerling lived to the end of their days without doing much (he died of old age in the book) but staying loyal.

Jamie and the Hound are very fascinating characters and it’s mainly due to their oathbreaking but Criston, as a show only, felt like such a petty little boy who got mad about the girl he liked. Its a stupid plan but hes paranoid about being exposed & not thinking straight, and thats why hes so angry rhaenyra simply wants him to be her whore. She's not in love with him, it's all just about sex for her. But he could be gelded, tortured and executed. Lets not forget about her crying about her duty for 3 years to him before making him take something that you'd only give up to somebody you love in that time, especially as a crown princess 💯💯‼️ He doesn't hate Rhaenyra because of rejection. It's an incredibly interesting look at how irrational morality (and to a significant degree, ideology) can be and how authoritarian, reactionary, superstitious cultures and systems will always lead to conflict, as well as how internal conflict so easily spills out into the world. A commonly held culture with ethics arrived at through logical processes within a participatory system of self-governance in daily things and economics, or anarchism/libertarian socialism, is the antidote 💯

It's obviously hypocritical to call Jaime the "worst" oathbreaker. However, I can see why he's deemed as such. He didn't just break every path he took. He also committed the worst possible crime in a kingdom when he killed "the mad king." Regencide has throughout history been the ultimate crime that demanded the ultimate punishment. The books may be fiction, but they're based on medieval England and Europe. It didn't matter how evil or hated the king was. A king was a king and anointed by God himself, so killing one was an act against God. Now, add on the fact Jamie took the vows of a Kingsguard and broke every sacred vow he took on top of killing the king, I can understand and even agree to a certain point with him being considered the worst oathbreaker of all time. ESPECIALLY since everybody knew of all his sins and broken vows. Don't get me wrong, I understand and agree with why Jaime killed the mad king, and he was obviously manipulated by Cersei. Unfortunately, that doesn't change the fact that he did everything he has done.

Does the king guard have to take a vow of celibacy? Because I checked the Kings guard oath, and all it said is that they should held no land, take no wife, and father no children.

that's what it implies, since nobles shouldn't be going round visiting brothels or having hookups with random women. We know that is not really the case, but they cannot be seen to be in a relationship with anyone. If even Tywin Lannister (a knighted man himself) can indulge in the odd excursion, pretty sure the KG do as well. Someone like Barristan Selmy or Aemon the Dragonknight would take the vow to heart and dedicate themselves to practicing swordfighting and horse riding instead of indulging in the fleshy delights. Even Ser Loras Tyrell, the shiny Tyell flower lad who loves stags throws himself into the assault that eventually wins the crown Dragonstone, getting grave wounds in the process. Then we have the likes of Jaime, Prince Lewyn and the aforementioned knight who had several wives. one big gap is not in the literature- how did Daeron II's Kingsguard fare in the Blackfyre Rebellion? did they stay loyal? did they join Daemon Blackfyre? Were they Aegon IV's kingsguard?

The thing is, the oath is to “father no children”. There’s nothing about no sex.
