Yesss I've been saying, Skyblivion isn't oblivion assets ported to skyrim. Its a complete rework of both games systems to work in tune with each other, new dungeons, new apparel and scrolls and weapons, like it's oblivion+++ with skyrim thrown in.

I'm more interested in skyblivion over another elder scrolls remaster of Oblivion, I don't trust that they will make it like any modern game, I'm afraid the mechanics are just going to hold it back, however with the right people at the wheel of creating things within the creation engine like the mod authors that have been modding many Bethesda games forever who have gotten themselves in various different projects such as Skybolivion and skywind, these states I have a far greater respect for modders over anything Bethesda craps out, of course this is being created by some other studio for Bethesda, so it could be a banger, I just don't know, right now I have my full trust and the sky Oblivion team for modders.

The game has aged kind of well on the Series X, if we are referring to performance and load times, it also plays at 60fps and the graphics hold up kind of good. What the remake needs is some balancing, better character models and maybe improved animations. It's highly unlikely they would do anything to add balancing when it comes to the enemy scaling or change the level up system, because it's very rare they go in and alter the code. I'm probably in the minority that does like this more than Skyrim, Oblivion just has more of a charm. Better quests and guilds, better towns and each has a unique architecture, better magic as well as custom magic, the ability to hockey weapons and spells without using a mod, a better soundtrack and probably the best DLC Bethesda has ever made. The game also appears to have more enemy variety than Skyrim.

The oblivion skills and leveling system were my favorite part of the game as a kid, it made me think critically about what skill points to invest in. I also liked the combat a lot. Skyblvion. And the oblivion remake will be completely different. But both will be great games hopefully.

I am probably the only one looking forward to bethesdas remake more than skyblivion. I have played enough skyrim for 3 lifetimes and skyblivion will probably play just like skyrim it will basically feel like a huge skyrim dlc. Oblivion has a unique feel with things like acrobatics and speed stats. As much as I love skyrim and will probably always go back to play it from time to time I think as long as bethesda doesn't screw it up a true Oblivion remaster will be a refreshing change of pace.

In part because of the fact that its purely a free passion project by the community, but also because Bethesda needs a wake up call. Despite the memes & potato characters. Oblivion was so big, Sony ordered fromsoft to make an Oblivion competition, which ended up being Demon Souls. Sony was actually pretty pissed it wasn't more like Oblivion & tried to let it die. Lucky for everyone else, it blew up in the west & we got a lot more games. Sony trying to now buy fromsoft is hilarious & really should not happen, they let the success slip under them when they should have provided more backing. Unfortunately there are many great nich games published by Microsoft & Sony that were given the most minor advertisement & went under the radar for most.

This might be a hot take, but I absolutely despise the Skyrim engine. I'm more excited about the remaster and have no intention to play Skyblivion ever. The problem with Skyblivion is that it requires me to install Skyrim, no thanks! I will keep playing Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion while waiting for the remaster. The older games are so much more stable. Skyrim was the point that it became apparent the engine was haphazardly cobbled together spaghetti code. It's crazy to me that a game is so popular despite being so irritating to mod that some people literally pay someone to set up the mods for them. We went from script extenders and ram patches to 69 different 3rd party tools to make the game not shit a brick. Don't even get me started on the save bloat.

Idk about anyone else but remake/remaster is kinda meaningless to me. If all either one of them end up being are just graphics updates then its a hard pass for me. I dont want any mechanic changes, but a rework on the terrible cookie cutter copy paste dungeons would be nice. Some all around more content would be prime, we have had enough mods over the years that add in quests and equipment some of the better ones would be nice as well. Make the cities bigger? Make oblivion gates not a chore to take down?

Skyrim was released 6 years after Oblivion.8 years after Skyrim was released, announcement and early development footage (though only about a minute of footage) of Elder Scrolls VI Hammerfell graced us, yet no updates on Bethesda's progress on ES6 since. Oblivions dungeons aren't randomly generated, they are just so dogshit that they feel that way. The only thing random in them is the loot and enemies, which also means there is no point in exploring them because the rewards are always worse than what you can obtain through quest. They just exist for the player to wonder through the same exact rooms over and over again, and to add meaningless content to an empty generic world.

And it shows. As for the world, it was full of random encounters, and fun characters and fun side quests. This also happened allot in the cities.

I guess that's another reason to add for it being one of the worst in the series, on top of the soulless world and horrible characters with atrocious voice acting to match. I have such an affinity for oblivion and have always wanted to play it but I just….cant. I try to jump in thinking I can deal with how dated it is and I just can’t. I’m not an avid gamer, at all, so take my opinion for what you feel it should be worth based on that, but it’s just so clunky and ugly. Skyrim has been warming up to me the more I play it, tho it was a struggle to stay interested, and to my knowledge that’s a somewhat “worse” game in comparison? At least from what I hear. A remake, whether Bethesda or the skyblivion project, would *hopefully* get me to actually enjoy playing it as much as I enjoy hearing of it. So long as it’s actually decent. My personal criteria isn’t too high as long as you give me something to do in a nice looking world with fun combat that actually feels like I’m doing something. Often times it just feels like I’m clicking a “play death animation” button that only works once in every 5 million presses and is also drenched in molasses. Like I said I genuinely love the idea of the game, I just wish/hope there’s a better version of it coming that I can finally fully enjoy.
