"entirely devoid of recreational snacking": Kill me now. Wait, I was expecting you to just jettison the ore. You mean to say opening the doors of the submersible's cargo bay actually enabled ascent? Wouldn't flooding a sealed compartment, replacing gas with fluid, only increase the density and prevent this? Thank you, KSP physics. And thank You for showing an electric propeller ascent from Eve. I was expecting that as an evolution from your previous video. :)

Eve's waters are actually less dense than the atmosphere, but are are held down by their high magnetic attraction to the Kore. The reason the craft didn't sink at first was because of surface tension. I think that covers everything.

Also they now come in different colors too. Check out Scott Manley's video, "Returning the Magic Boulder to its rightful place" to see more.

My enjoyment of these videos is ruined by the running commentary about how Trump is somehow "anti science"
@BradleyWhistance5 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your feedback, and hope that any disagreement we have won't prevent you from enjoying the STEM focused content that I generally deliver. With that said, policy is very relevant to space exploration, and part of the Odyssey by Bill series was giving myself a voice on these issues. My enjoyment of the entirety of the months of November and December of 2016 was ruined by Trump's campaign of psuedoscience. I was mad then, and frankly, I'm still mad now. I'll add that dt still continues to deny global warming: twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1065400254151954432?s=21 Space exploration and satellite imaging is key in having developed our modern understanding of climate science. I don't like how Trump lies about this, its an insult to the wonderful work done at NASA.
@johiahdoesstuff16145 жыл бұрын
@@BradleyWhistance Several things, I guess. First, you are far and away better at KSP than I will likely ever be. Of course I enjoy your videos. Can you explain exactly what you mean by "Trump's campaign of pseudoscience?" Denying global warming isn't really a pseudoscience, and if I'm interpreting that tweet correctly, the way he is denying it is actually a fairly common misconception. It's a very easy trap to fall into, believing that the current record lows reflect the overall trend. I've found both of my parents having this same misconception. We live in northern Michigan, so it's pretty easy for them to go "look outside. I don't think it's that big of a deal." I've done my best to relieve them of that false conception, but in your face data versus the spread out eagle eye view can be difficult sometimes. Also, it seems like you disapprove of the wall, judging by the video. May I ask why? I'm no economist, but judging by past projects of similar size, (think Hoover dam and NASA itself during the space race,) it looks to me like constructing the wall will have beneficial economic ramifications for the Southern border of Texas and the like.
@BradleyWhistance5 жыл бұрын
@@johiahdoesstuff1614 First off, I appreciate and respect my viewers, and disagreement on issues like this doesn't change that. I would like to focus this conversation on one issue at a time if that is alright with you. The denial of climate science is a deliberate campaign to avoid our responsibility to combat the dangerous effects of climate change. I am a big fan of Nasa's own site on this topic, which can be found at climate.nasa.gov/ Unfortunately, Trump has lied, and continues to lie about this. Ill refer you to this archive (www.trumptwitterarchive.com/archive/global%20warming/ftff), which returns 102 Trump tweets mentioning global warming. Since Trump doesn't read, perhaps he really is this ignorant about science. Due to his position of power, this is a distinction without a difference. As long as he continues to spread false conspiracy theories about climate science, he will be an enemy to the climate scientists working at NASA and elsewhere to further our understanding of Earth.
@johiahdoesstuff16145 жыл бұрын
@@BradleyWhistance conspire verb con·spire | \ kən-ˈspī(-ə)r \ conspired; conspiring Definition of conspire transitive verb : PLOT, CONTRIVE intransitive verb 1a : to join in a secret agreement to do an unlawful or wrongful act or an act which becomes unlawful as a result of the secret agreement If the denial of global warming is a conspiracy, then it is a purely subconscious one. People don't actively go around creating crackpot theories, unless you are referring to those who believe that it's all made up by the left. For example, both of my parents took the evident truth in front of them and, without the necessary context, made a false conclusion. Now I'm not sure how much global warming deniers are really working together, so I could be wrong here. But from my perspective I don't think it requires a conspiracy to come to the conclusion that global warming is either a complete lie or vastly overblown. "The denial of climate science is a deliberate campaign to avoid our responsibility to combat the dangerous effects of climate change." One could also consider the effects of political lobbying by big coal and oil companies to have a large part in the continued spread of misinformation and lack of action by world governments. I don't think it is a deliberate campaign so much as it is many different companies trying to look out for their bottom line above all else. Again, I don't think this is a good or moral thing, but framing is important when considering politically charged issues. Another thing to consider is that it isn't really the US government's job to go green. The USA is already one of the cleanest industrialized nations. Affirmative action towards decreasing our carbon emissions should really go towards China, where many still burn coal in their poorly insulated homes to stay warm. It's all a matter of framing and not taking knowledge for granted. My mom or Donald Trump may not know, for example, that ice dated to before the previous ice age has been melting. They may not consider that the sudden temperature drop used to be the normal temperature in a given area. People can look outside and claim that it isn't getting warmer, without considering that the 2 degree Celsius number quoted is an *average* over the whole planet. The only reason I know this is because I regularly trawl through the internet and come across well documented videos with citations to research papers and the like. It's not something taught in school, and disinformation is currently a rampant political weapon in the US election system. Again, none of this is saying that Trump denying global warming is OK. But, I think it is important to not only consider the what, but also the how.
