When I first saw it I wasn’t aware it was a comedy show and thought it was a real documentary. I cringed with embarrassment and could hardly watch it. Then it dawned on me eventually 😂

@@Muzzy68don’t beat yourself up about it. The same thing happened with the TV critic for the Sun. It’s literally his job to review TV shows and he did the same thing. Said it was awful. The following day he apologised for missing the point entirely. 😂

For me thats always what made it so incredibly good, you didnt need to have worked in an office to recognise all of the characters. They are all so well written, their ego's, their flaws, their need to be loved etc

It's because 'the office' is a stitch-up. there are subtle clues throughtout. David plays up to the cameras but there's a lot of evidence that he's reasonably competent.

Dangerous office to have worked in. One of them turned up dead in his next series, another found himself in the bilge of a Caribbean pirate ship, and one became a hobbit and got into all sorts of bother. Definitely not a safe work environment.

It's the way Brent can't accept being stifled, he has to be 'in charge' of the situation, even at the cost of saying truly outrageous things; and how that is reflected in the delivery of the line. Perfection, true art. It always makes you say to yourself 'HOW did they think of that'. The Office - never to be surpassed.
