@@joemckim1183 That would still be a spinoff no? It’s like Star Trek shows, Voyager is a show about space exploration on a new ship other than the Enterprise but it’s not considered a reboot, it’s a spinoff.

The terminologies can be confusing. But a reboot isn't necessarily a different continuity, as it simply refers to the fact that you are "rebooting" a franchise/series, like starting it up again. It can still be set in the same universe or continuity. A "spinoff" is a piece of media that exists as a sidestory that is meant to be completely or largely unrelated to the main story and narrative that it was spun from. What you're thinking of is a "remake". Which, as the name implies, is remaking something from the ground up (new continuity, new interpretation, new cast, etc)

Greg Daniels created the american version. Its not the first time a writer in America took an English Series and remade it for tv. All in the Family, Veep, House of Cards, Sanford & Son...tp name a few..Some have failed each time like Fawlty Towers..

The US version is very different. The first season failed as they tried to do exactly the same as our version. The changes that were made elevated the show into something new and dare I say objectively better.
