You gotta admit it that the set production and design was so good because they accurately captured the stifling, cluttered environment of a real office, down that horrific fluorescent lighting. It's all in the details and there's an incredible amount of little touches that make it feel so real. The office setting really was its own character.

Actually, in one if the later seasons when pam gets her mural ruined by the warehouse guy who spray paints a butt over it and the sound guy saves her from thw warehouse guy atfacking her after her and dwight painted his truck... They show that the closet is storage for the camera crews stuff and pam talks to the sound guy in the closet. So they do eventually show it.
