Looks like your dream is coming together. Hey Mike - I know what you mean about the contract with the kid. Never ending gopher for them. Stay safe.

This guy can do it all!! This shop is going to be the go-to shoo-in Roanoke and really anywhere in the world. Like father, like son. A hell of a team.

Tay, Since the storage overhead of office isn't set up with stairs (yet) what about doing an example for customers of all the various styles, treads and handrails you can make, and/or imagine using the 3D printer for non structural parts on wall as 1/2 surface models hung like photos, while making it a functional steel base frame to access upper storeroom ? Every tread/style a different example, or maybe just the 5 to 6 most popular you've already made ? It would give Spike and you a lot of reasons to use the new printer... PS You will really need some type of floor to ceiling drapes to separate front drive in areas from back to isolate those garage doors in summer/winter temps, and for reduction of echos and noise.

I noticed and loved that blue color in previous shorts. You know what you are doing with shop interior design! You need predominantly white walls to keep the shop and moods bright, yet focal pieces of color can add character. You chose shades simultaneously artistic and masculine. Everyone who enters that shop will feel a strong, creative, and comfortably fitting atmosphere. Who knew you could do so much with the ambiance of a working shop?

Tay, considering the time you have, you've done so well! As you said, you're just one man, trying to organise your shop, the way you want 1st time! Carry on like that and you will be in when you expect, AND MAKING MONEY. Best wishes regardless, and thanks to Mike for his time and help too!

It looks really good. I still think that you might regrett fixing up the floor before you started to move things into the space. To remove the smell you should use some white vinegar to clean of the surfaces inside after you have leaned out all porous material like fabrics and carpets etc. You could also try and use a ozon generator and put it iside during the nights and time it to turn of some ours before you arrive in the morning since Ozon is toxic for life. You could also cover it in a tnet and and fill that with ozon that you can then direct out through the ventilation.

These are all excellent suggestions! Once we put the AC in and started running everything it really helped. Same with power washing the floors too

Cool stuff. A coworker of mine will give me a stern look if I don't point out that it's actually "CHAMPING at the bit." 🤷🏼♂
@Bennetts_Fabrication_Welding17 күн бұрын
But it's not, it's "chomping at the bit". It's a term the older generations used because the work horses. They used bits with the reigns, in there mouth, when working. The horses were always chomping on them to stsrt working.
@MyLilMule17 күн бұрын
@@Bennetts_Fabrication_Welding Look it up. Webster's says "champ at the bit" is to "show impatience at restraint; be restless." It comes from something said about horses when they bite their bits "repeatedly and restlessly." They "champ." The original saying was "CHAMPING" and not "CHOMPING." It has been morphed into the latter because ignorance is contagious and we lost what the meaning of "champ" meant. I added the comment half-heartedly. I wouldn't have figured someone with a keyboard that doesn't know how to use Google would try to argue about it.

Look into elgi compressors. We have a larger one for our shop and it runs great. Very energy efficient too.

You’re going pretty well. I’d like a screw compressor as well. Just remember that it’s quiet-er. It’s not quiet, as I found to my dismay. “Because I want it” is a reason I often use. Something is weird about the timing of this video. A previous video had you further along and the mill was already working. So you said it was October. Did you lose this one at first?

I built small rooms for my compressor and dust collector. Filled the walls with Rockwool Safe'nSound insulation and skinned the walls with de-coupled Homasote beneath OSB outer walls. So glad I spent the time & cash to do that, as I can finally hear myself think inside the shop now.

Walker has had to juggle and prioritize. A long video like this one needs time and editing, but he needed to churn out videos while also contributing to the physical move and managing that disruption. He dropped some quickies along the way to keep the algorithm and us satiated while slowly crafting this story for quality and posterity.

I’m looking to build a new shop, and start an actual business, I want to hire ppl, have videos, train ppl… My question is how do you pay yourself, the overhead, employees, do you have to get a loan? Is that the only way in 2025? Almost?
@LiftArcStudios19 күн бұрын
Man, the real answer is Tay never sleeping, not turning down work, doing solid work, and really having good luck on the youtube channel side. Start small, build up enough money / work that you need to start paying another person to do some of it and just keep on grinding and building.
@Luzeon19 күн бұрын
@ I’m making frames out of my garage right now, and I agree. A shop build will come in time… “Just keep making more, non-stop,” and don’t sleep! Thank you for inspiring me, just-that-little-bit-more!

Give the man a chance to breathe, you man think he's Superman, (he may too) but time is the main constraint! There is no time machine, so everything has to be done in the time available!
