So I know I'm a little bit late to the game with this video but did I hear Tay say he had belts made fir the vevor belt grinder? If so I just wanna let give you a heads up that with a very small amount of modification the grinder will run 2x72 belts and you will have belts of every grit available to you as well as scotchbrite.

This guy's a noob. Dude, you don't even know how to gas or stick weld. Why does everyone want to dive into TIG welding without learning the basics first. ? Do not recommend channel
@taitsmith8521Күн бұрын
You never clamp your piece to the welding table. It's always tacked in place so it doesn't warp. That's first day on the job stuff. What on earth are you talking about ?

It was nice to give that lathe away. That bombshell lathe wasn't useless at all though. In that config it could be used in any car shop to face breaks or make 4 cylinder crankshafts. 80% of jobs are under 2ft long and if you converted it to electric you gain almost 2 ft on it's current length. The guy easily got a $3-5k machine for free. That cross slide and chuck alone would be worth over $1k and fit many machines.

Hopefully everlast will never send a machine to this guy again. It seems that the machine is good and has a lot of features. It only needs a better hand who is willing to test them for the sake of others. its more on unboxing and merely showing a quarter of what it can do

Picked and oiled steel (P&O) is just hot rolled steel that has been acid treated to remove the mill scale and then oiled for corrosion protection. It is not cold rolled and is much cheaper than cold rolled.

A 1/8" bit to grind off isn't much if your talking about a 4" workpiece, but over a 6' or longer? Can you get it down a little more?
@adamrutz6655Күн бұрын
It takes the same time to cut and grind either way
@arcare001Күн бұрын
@@adamrutz6655 So you're saying it takes the same time to cut and grind off a 1/8" x 1/2" x 96" standoff as it does to grind one 1/32" x 1/2" x 96"? Or are you saying (without saying) that this tool cannot cut any closer to the workpiece? My first question was actually more rhetorical as it was more of an explanation for the second more relevant question that I asked. While I do appreciate your opinion, I am more interested if the tool can cut closer to the workpiece.

👍🏼 Can anyone explain why you always say MIG welding but never MAG? 🤔
@flatlandwelder4 күн бұрын
MIG is a slang term, meaning Metal Inert Gas. The correct term for the process is Gas Metal Arc Welding, commonly said as gmaw or g maw. Another common term is wire feed welding. Not sure what you mean with mag unless it is stands for Metal Arc Gas which in the Midwest is not used to identify the process. Hope this helps. Teach my welding students (13 years a teacher and 53 years as a welder) to say Gas Metal Arc Welding because that is the proper term used by the American Welding Society. Hope this helps.
@TimWelds4 күн бұрын
@@flatlandwelderMAG stands for Metal Active Gas, since with steel the gas blends aren’t completely inert. You rarely hear it in the US, but it’s a common term overseas. I’m with you on GMAW as the best term, but they’re all talking about solid wire.
@Lukas-Lugg4 күн бұрын
Here in Europe we would never say MIG welding when we are MAG welding and vice versa. It always triggers me when you do so. But I understand that this is just slang 😅

My question is, can someone who is very familiar with using 3D animation / sculpting software find a place in a fab shop? Is the software and skillset enough to work in that field?
