A guy from the project has been vocal in the Berserk Discord that the project had actually been abandoned by all people in charge of the project due do studio heads wanting to add two other projects. He also said a summer 2025 release would be impossible with the team they actually have right now. Who is this person you may ask? THE LITERAL VOICE OF GUTS in this project. This whole thing is looking fishy considering that their ATOT project hasn't had anything new for literal YEARS and they took patreon money for that as well. This looks really bad for studio Eclipse. If people actually pay attention to the situation and patterns of this studio they should be concerned.

As one of the ex-VA's from years ago when SnR was first announced, I can vouch that this is true. Before the rebranding of the studio, there was so many issues behind the scenes. The whole thing was an absolute mess, and this seems to be the case after the rebrand too. The AOT project is scheduled for fall of THIS year, which is likely going to be cancelled/delayed (again). They have an awful track record when it comes to actually releasing things.

It'll never truly end imo. At least not by it's creators design. I used to wish Berserk would never end, since I couldn't imagine an ending good enough. Then my wish was answered in the most Monkey Paw of ways when Kentaro Miura tragically died. While I am grateful for the continuation of his work; it feels like an interpretation rather than the genuine thing. I feel like only Kentaro could've concluded Berserk in the perfect way.

The project did start as a ambitious idea, but production stopped really soon after the trailer. Only the voice actor of Guts and one other guy (i think the storyboard artist) are keeping the project ''afloat'' since may this year. All the directors and animators left. But yet they still collect money from unassuming patrons. I hope this scam stops.

Like I said in my posts, I do please ask you don't take everything I said as the full picture. There was a lot of ignorance in the things I said, a lot of things I either didn't know or had a very surface view of. Its one piece of a much larger puzzle, not the whole kit and caboodle. I mean, there have been fan animated OVA's before. If memory serves, an entire ero guro manga was adapted by one guy. Dude was so passionate about it that he did the whole thing himself. The creator of the manga couldn't believe it. Till he met this dude. Realized the guy was 100% committed. And then ultimately gave his blessing on the project. - Shojo Tsubaki. That was the manga. Hiroshi Harada was the madman who animated it. He drew the anime himself over the course of 5 years

Would be nice if they actually invited the people involved in this project to come work for them for a change. Berserk really demands devotion, because the story is quite massive, its not enough for you to be "in the business" of animation. Just imagine actually animating all those long arcs, you really do need to be a true fan to make it happen. A true animated series, and not that hot garbage we got in 2016. Both the fans and the late Miura San deserve it.

I really cannot forgive Studio GaGa for being so vague in their threat that they've instilled fear into fans the world over and causing them to withdraw their own works that they put so much hard work and passion into creating out of sheer love for this series. If Mark Reymer's video also ends up going down in light of this, I may very well cease being a fan altogether, because I will not support the work of a studio that actively hates and is hostile toward their own fans and supporters. I've already made peace with the fact that we will never see an ending in our lifetime, and if we SOMEHOW did, it wouldn't be what we would have gotten originally; should any other pillars of the community fall as a result, it will be more than apparent that Berserk is truly dead as far as I'm concerned. Good riddance at this point, it was all nothing more than wasted potential in the end.

Japan is overwhelmingly opposed to fan animations, fan dubs, edits, and even fan art. They need to get with the times and learn that these videos are free promotion for their products, but their culture refuses to adapt. The Studio Eclipse berserk film looks insane, and most American companies would applaud a fan putting that much work into showing their appreciation, perhaps even hiring the fan (it has happened). IP restriction on fan works in Japan actually depends from each different IPs. Sure, doujinshis are dime in dozen in Japan but some IPs is really strict about no fan-produced merchandises and derivative medias for profit such as Sanrio characters.

A few things: I'm a metroid fan, and a metroid fan made AM2R (Another metroid 2 remake.) which nintendo sent them a cease and desist. There were people who took their time to recreate and build exact or near replicas of the truck of optimus prime from the live transformers movies, and batman dark knight movies. Both people got their work taken from them due to copyright. So be careful folks.

For so long, I’ve waited for the Black Swordsman to get fully animated. 98’ gave us a solid episode with a partial-reinterpretation, AllinAll gave us TWO Lost Children animations that went balls to the walls with its style; Studio4C had concept footage with potential but never got that far, sadly. Hearing these dudes started monetizing a fan project with a patreon kinda killed it for me, in terms of passion. Idk how to feel really. I don’t mind patreon for fan projects as long as progress is being shown and not fully locked behind a paywall. Studio Arche has one and while the next episode is delayed, they are still releasing plenty of snippets to the public and have a full episode already out. I knew that Eclypse’s animation was going to be a scam when I heard the English dub of the trailer was released early on Patreon even though it was finished.

Well I can't say its totally hopeless for Berserk. They are doing a proper black n' white anime adaption of Uzamki that has more than enough potential to actually be good. (I saw those Mosquito lady's in the hospital arc. Uh, are you Sure you want to do that 'baby-part' in 2024?) If they do something as wild as full un-cut adaptation of that, I don't see why an Official animation studio can't pick it up and do it justice. It's not like Berserk is as Cursed as its other Black n' white Canadian counter-part 'Cerebus'! Now THAT. That is an Cursed Series. Call me in Crazy, but judging from the stuff I found reading Phone Book1 of Cerebus there was actually allot I found in that comic that connected to what ends of being seen in Berserk. I mean there's that whole Cerebus being hired as a Assassin by a shifty wizard bit, Cerebus fighting a Skeleton that looked like it came from Black-Swords men Arc, and even a snooty nobleman guy called Lord Julius who's under threat of assassination, by a rebel organization who's leader 'Dun' Dun, Dun' is a guy dressed like Femto, shot standing in a twisted stairway that looks like That Moment at Black-swords Men Arc! If you ask me; I think Miura was inspired by Cerebus like he was co-inspired by Conan, the very series Cerebus started out Parodying. Cerebus's character is like a Guts/Griffith crossbred of sorts. He began a wandering barbarian/mercenary for hire that has allot of the same grim tough attitude as Guts but Cerebus was also Greedy and Power-hungry much like Griffith. Can't say the full-details since I haven't read 'High Society' or 'Church & State' yet (Oh look. He's wearing Father Mozgus's Attire!) but there's a part in Cerebus V1 were he lead an band of Barbarian mercenary's who while he successfully commanded them they all end up 'Spoiler' sacrificed under circumstances outside his control; witch while it looked like Cerebus felt some remorse for that loss, the using and manipulation of others for his ambition seems to be a running course throughout most of the story. From research I did, it looks like it falls into a complete 'intelligible' nonsensical direction that rends previous establishments/characters void however when he saw stuff like the 'Church & State' scene were a higher entity is declaring the Mc's Doom like Skull-Knight, and that sheer Guts-style Rage battle-scene we get from Cerebus at the beginning of the 'Mothers & Daughters' arc, I can't help but think Miura pulled some influence from Dave Sim. I do personally think that Jaka is a possible inspiration for Casca. She was the main romantic interest, and was given a complex tragic back-story just like Casca was Given.

Heya! As the voice of Guts I do want to clarify some things before anyone gets any incomplete information. A lot of things have been going around regarding things I've said about my time behind the scenes, frustrations Ive felt, etc. on discord servers and such. There were many disagreements in terms of how the project should have been handled between me and my higher-ups, this happens everywhere and is more common than you think. However, I can say that the project is in more than capable hands. The things I have said were pieces of a bigger picture that were strewn sloppily together out of context by me, and I do genuinely apologize for any confusion or scares I may have caused anyone; fans or not. We are nowhere near done with Berserk yet, nor do we plan on giving up on this any time soon. The project will go on, and we don't want all your hype and excitement going to waste. And we will be sure to take the utmost care in being as respectful to the IP holders as humanly possible. In terms of getting permission, the process was being treated very delicately and a lot of care is being taken in not only how we reach out to Studio Gaga & Hakusensha, but who we reach out to and how we will go about making our pitch. The majority of the staff just simply deemed it unrealistic to ask now with only just a trailer to show, we at least wanted to wait for the first episode to drop before making any attempts at contacting the IP holders. I do also ask that if you were there for my ramblings on the Berserk discord server that you do not spread them lightly, or take them at face value. It's one perspective out of many from inside the project, as I've been the only one chatting about it up to this point. Since I only oversee the sound department, I get updates on animation progress much later than other staff members. Please, take my comments with a grain of salt and understand that it is only one piece of a much more intriquite and complex puzzle that has more moving parts than I myself know about. I'm just the crazy sound & voice director who voices Guts, not head of the entire studio. For those who still support us, I want to thank you for still having faith in us during these complicated times. We will try our best to make sure that it's all worth it in the end!

At least I saw no profit on my end, from what I know all the funds went directly into what we said they were, hiring new staff to aid production. We never were issued a cease and desist nor were we told by Hakusensha to shut it down. If we do end up receiving a cease and desist however, I would like to see the Patrons receive what they gave back. Again, it’s such a grey area right now that only time can really clear up the path.

I want to see the Berserk fan anime do well, because the past Berserk anime productions fall short in different ways. The Berserk movies were good, but don’t adapt some great details in the manga. The less we talk about the 2016 anime, the better.

My biggest complaint with these fan animations is always the voice acting. Unless it's a good impression of Marc Diraisen I always feel like I could do better. But, I'm an actual VA, a lot of these people are just a voice picked out of an audition, and to be fair they could be called the same, a VA, just cause they have work. But, in the defense of most of these projects, it's difficult to find someone with actual voice acting skill and voice acting experience. I guess it's up to them to pick, but it's not gonna stop me from getting that icky feeling and doing the line myself and saying "Yeah, that's more like it. Should've picked me." as egotistical as that is. What I'm trying to say is, the difference between me and them is that I've trained, practiced, exercised, to fit the role and be a voice actor. I may not have gotten popular work but I'm in stuff that can be cited. Whereas, for most of the people who end up in these fan anims. They are just randoms who aren't trained, don't exercise, and just got lucky. My best wishes to the folks at eclypse and every other studio. I like the fan animations as much as the next guy.

Bit of a clarification. Fan films are indeed okay but that's if you aren't selling it as a product. But they could always send a cease and desist over any fan work but like you said its not really worth their time and looks bad. Hence the whole public domain stuff about Mickey Mouse. People make fan stuff all the time but if its in the public domain they can now sell such things.

I just wish Studio Gaga got off its ass and actually started doing something with the manga. Literally anything. They are working at an absolute snail's pace, with several months between chapters. And even when we do get a new chapter, it's 10-13 pages with pretty much nothing of value in them, like the as of now last chapter to come out. It was such a nothingburger, and short too. At this point I'm not holding out much hope for Berserk's future.

Copyright can't exceed 100 years but that's too long and was set because of Disney. In my opinion copyright shouldn't exceed more than 10 years. That way the creator of the thing can have 10 years to benefit from their work and fans can benefit from their fanwork which in turn would benefit the original.
