In this video I go on a journey to use an OFFICIAL controller you've likely never seen or used yourself before: The Official Nintendo Labo Wheel. It was a journey to get my hands on one of these in 2023, so let's see if it's actually any good.

my favorite part of the MK Labo is the total lack of interfacing with the game's menu, any time you wanna do something in a menu you have to fish the Joy-Con out, press the buttons, and hastily jam it back in before the race starts

I found a steering wheel exactly like this today in Walmart. But it was plastic and official. It’s called the Mario Kart Racing Wheel Pro Mini. It’s NOT the crappy version that Nintendo makes. It looks EXACTLY like the labo one (wish I could send you the photo I took).

Apparently the official Mario Kart 8 Deluxe wheel peripherals have better shoulder buttons than the Joy-Con wrist straps that come bundled with your console.

I actually have the wheel myself and it's actually a fun way to play MK8. The wheel itself has some weird cardboard on cardboard friction, but the pedal feels really nice.

Fun as that side quest looked, you could have saved time checking the big box stores inverntory in the apps... not always up to date, but for something like labo (assuming it's not an everyday buy) you can probably assume its there if it says "in stock"

Hori did actually release a few wheels that were officially licensed by Nintendo a few years ago, so you really didn't need to go through all this work, but the Labo is made by Nintendo themselves

Hori made a $199.99 Nintendo switch controller that was a steering wheel, and it has pedals for the A and B buttons, it also has a D-pad of the “Switch” kind, and it has paddles on the back for L and R

@raysfire: The reason why the Nintendo labo think fail was because you pay 50$ for a big peace of cardboard, to put your nintendo switch in it, to have the fealling of being in an arcade, and also with a high risk of damaging your nintendo swtich controler, by stepping on the cardboard that one of your controler is in for the gas, so instead just used the controler itself like a wheel the wheel is not needed to make the controler behave like a wheel it was also truth back in the Wii. With the Wii wheel my isssue was you turn to mush, and it start turning the opposite dirrection because they is not lock on how mush you can turn, while by just using the controler side way on the Wii since you have the feel of the controler itself you know where to stop turning more in one dirrection. that was the issue for me.

⁠​⁠ Kirbythings is referring to different one that wasn’t mentioned in the video. I have it and it’s actually amazing! It’s called the Hori Mario Kart Racing Wheel. There’s 2 versions, a Pro Deluxe and a Pro Mini. I recommend it :)
