Thank you George for being such an inspiration to me. As a result of your walk along the coastal path from Pernera to Protaras I was able to take some wonderful sunrise photos, which I have added to all the main Cyprus and Protaras sites on Facebook. Thanks again George and the crew for all your efforts. Shame I never got to meet you. Regards Andy Tyas

We went about a week and a half ago, had to take a TUI trip due to car insurance worries. We only had 30 mins in varosha. I suspect TUI are only allowed 30 mins there, they have no suspended the tours due to suspected political concerns. I'm really glad I went, but your videos provide so much more context and information than the TUI tour. If TUI had been honest and explained why we only had such a short time, we still would have gone. But the whole tour felt a bit garish and disrespectful, missing any kind of info of what we were looking at. Really great videos on this George. Glad to watch this having been there and find out more about what we missed and what it was we saw.

Fantastic video George & Su, in fact it's one of the best ones you've ever done in my opinion! More long videos like this please! Amazing but sad at the same time to see all the old abandoned buildings. Hopefully one day a solution will be found although I think the whole city would need a complete knock down and rebuild at this point!

Been on that tour a couple times now. And il be totally honest it was FANTASTIC. It’s so interesting and the the beach is stunning. The tour guide (forgot her name) was brilliant. My nephew who’s autistic must of asked her a thousand questions and she was brilliant with him. Turkish speaking guide was brilliant as well and love the banter between them both. I will definitely be going on that excursion again when I return. Cheers George and Sue. 👍

Great video guys. We love using the Red Bus tour every visit, it’s such a packed and informative day. Oddly, I put this on while we had dinner and when I’d finished I started emptying our suitcase ready for our next trip to Kapparis and the first thing I picked up was the Original Red Bus brochure. As for the lion, we were told that if you make a wish into his ear it’ll come true. Still hasn’t though.

We visited the ghost town a couple of weeks ago. The highlight for me was seeing the sign of the front of the old abandoned "hi fi" shop where they proudly displayed the logos of Pioneer (obvs still a thing 50 years after the invasion) alongside "Garrard", which us oldies would recognise as "the first name in turntables" back in the early 70s, probably more so than Pioneer then.

Definitely love the ghost signs. Did you see the old pop bottles up by the mosque?

Those crocheted streamers are a memorial to the Famagusta children who tragically died in the huge earthquake in Turkey in 2023. I was in Famagusta when they did the funeral of 6 of the children. It was not long after my darling husband's funeral in Liopetri . I was so emotional as I knew some of the relatives and teacher of the children. It was a tragedy that was deeply felt in Famagusta as the sports team were in Turkey for a tournament. Their team photograph is near the mosque you actually videod the poster

I have read that Tui has stopped all excursions to the Northern Cyprus following an agreement with the Cypriot government. Will this ban spread to independent excursions companies.
@CYPRUSINSIGHT3 ай бұрын
No I don't think so it will just put the money in the pockets of local businesses not tour operators.
@michaeloconnor94653 ай бұрын
@CYPRUSINSIGHT The way I see it is the Cypriot government wants to see the Tourist money stay in Southern Cyprus. Tui would have taken huge numbers of people over the border. Local businesses can't move the numbers Tui can.

Very interesting george but no fault of your own it’s made me angry as my family had property on the beach front of Varosha. What makes me mad is if it’s abandoned why are the Turkish allowed to sell you food and make money from a supposedly abandoned town. Sorry to get all heavy but gonna have to go and calm down 😡😡🤬
