If it’s a 1v1 sure she’s more punishing to supports (new Sombra), but old Sombra was the soul of coordinated dives which were much more lethal and demanded elite support play to survive.

This is the big thing for me. The rework makes her better as a playable character, and as an opponent. She's a lot more fun and aggressively high-value as a playable character... ...but she's much easier to punish when mistakes are made, so she doesn't feel terrible to go up against. And since hack isn't a spam ability anymore - like Questron pointed out - you don't feel like you're just not allowed to play the game when Sombra makes you her target.

​@@_Xds_ I'm not having many issues with it. There's lots of counter play now. If you're interested, I can tell you some things you can probably change to make dealing with her easier. She is not infallible at all now. She has to commit to her attacks, so she's very punishable. You just have to account for the Sombra instead of trying to brute force it and use tactics you'd use for other characters.

I enjoyed the watch! I think it's okay for heroes to have a counter, like the argument Fitzy made about being shot by Torb turret out of invis, I think that's healthy. Tracer struggles vs Torb, why not Sombra too? It makes sense. No hero should be counterless (cough...Kiriko....cough)

I think EMP should negate over-health because Lucio beat drop can counter Sombra’s ultimate. This way both characters can bait ultimates, and counter whoever does their ultimate first-which means that there is some counter play.

It used to get rid of overshields, which was a dark blue health that Beat gave. They changed that now to overhealth, which EMP doesn't touch outside of the 30%. It still gets rid of all shield HP iirc.

Lucio player here I feel like sombra, given the authority over the engagement, shouldn't necessarily be the expected 1v1 winner, at least while her engagements cannot be actively deterred. Instead id prefer either the duration sombra can sustain the fight, consuming their attention, increased. Or you could have sombra's escape be a more reliable reinitiation tool. Otherwise all id expect on backliners is that they can consistently be burst, with no expense of the engagement. More formidable/threatening backlines should likely not be so proficient at sustaining the team, so that sombras identity isnt exclusive backline assassin. I feel it makes for really polarizing gameplay when someone else forces the engagment on you, and its a super one sided fight. At least if its a bad engage target, you can opt for their shortcomings. I think kiriko is generally fine, * hooold on, hear me out* , given she cant force the engagment on you. If you get 2 tapped by kiri either: you opted in, OR her shitty spam happened to get you (nerf fire rate). BUT, ignoring suzu for now, make kiri's ranged healing weaker, but more reliable, like harmony orb.

I don't really care whether she is strong or not, the rework didn't address the issue that she just isn't fun to play against. The biggest problem with sombra was always how unfun she was to play against and that hasn't changed with the rework. Dealing with this hero 24/7 for seasons is the whole reason i quit after giving this rework a chance.

Really, it's your DPS's responsibility to be a mobile hero and chase her down. Otherwise, Kiriko and/or Bap can constantly deny her value. She can force CDs, but it gets really hard to kill anything. On Tank, ball actually runs her down now. Doom is the only Tank who is still hit really hard by hack since she has a free hack during power block.

I don't think Sombra is OP. In fact I think she's still underpowered. However I still don't think she's good for the game. I don't like invis. As Questron said, Sombra forces her enemies to play on main and makes off angles and flanks too risky to take. Because she's literally invisible you can't visually confirm her position. So unless you've just seen her translocate or are currently looking at her you can't know if taking an off angle is safe. I find invis unreadable and non-interactive. I don't like that the way to play against her is to cluster on main eating spam and have your supports outheal her damage. It's boring as her opponent and it's boring as Sombra.

My only issue with this rework is how inflexible her translocator is. While making it more immediate was definitely a positive change, I think that giving her 5 second where she puts her translocator on the ground and automatically gets tpd back would have opened up many more place without being enough time to make it a get out of jail free card. You also have the issue that EMP and Hack both feel very underwhelming right now, but the need for it to be balanced simultaneously on tank and squishy makes it that way. They should probably create a tank passive that half the cc duration or make it so you can't cc targets with armor but overall it's a better change thatn what I thought

Both abilities, Old Translocator and New Translocator are get of of jail for free cards, if you use them correctly. Nothing changed about that in specific. Also, get out of jail for free cards are common in this game, so I don't think it was even the devs intention to change that. Reaper, Moira, Kiriko, Tracer, Zenyatta, Echo... They all have that incorporated into their kits.

REALLY old translocator used to work like that. You'd put it down and have 15 seconds before you were immediately TPed back. No destroying translocator. This was also in the time of 6 second duration stealth. That didn't really work, and I think the current iteration is far more dynamic

i believe Sombra will always be a problem because of the simple fact of perma invisibility much like the champion Evelynn from League of Legends but this time there is no pink wards you can put on the map to see her. this is how i would rework Sombra i would make her like Leblanc from League of Legends. first lets get started on her new passive when she gets at 30% hp she goes invisible for 2.5 seconds much like Leblanc and she spawns multiple clones (i’m thinking 5) from the center of when the passive went off and spread out in random directions. Now for her abilities i think Sombra should have an hologram ability like from Halo where she can choose to switch to it at anytime but when she first uses the ability she goes invisible for 2.5 seconds but you can also use the ability if you wanted, to get on high ground much like a Reaper teleport and it would get you to high ground i know its confusing but its either a straight walking hologram of you or a TP to get on high ground and right after you go invisible for 2-2.5 seconds (that i cant decide yet). Next she would still have her iconic Hack and Virus abilities. Lastly i much like the idea that EMP disables all deployables and as a bonus the respected hero who placed them cant re-deploy their deployable ability until EMP wares off and as usual it would disable shields i think this is fair because for crying out loud its an EMP in real life it disables it forever so consider this luck on your end ahha plus one last thing i think EMP should also reset her virus and thats it. this is my rework for Sombra would love to here how you guys think about it.

Since she has Virus now, Hack can theoretically be repurposed. Hack shouldn't be able to disable ability usage or increase damage against it's target anymore, but rather the target be visible through walls (as it does currently) and their HP is shown for a very considerable amount of time, and on multiple targets. This way Hack will be used to provide valuable information to her team incentivizing coordination and ambush tactics without directly cancelling abilities or just perma-hacking the enemy tank for free value.

My take: invis and hack coexisting is inherently problematic and one needs to be limited or removed. Counterplay in this game exists in two main forms: positional and cooldown-based. Dva can play around Zarya because she can avoid Zarya, and Ana can play around Doom because she can sleep him. Sombra’s invis makes positional counterplay impossible, and Sombra’s hack is limiting to cooldown-based counterplay (you have to deny hack or survive long enough to have cooldowns back, and hope hack didn’t interrupt the exact cooldown you needed to beat Sombra). So any version of Sombra that has both but is balanced in terms of overall power level is going to have extremely polarized matchups, in which she will annihilate certain characters while having no shot against others or against any peel. My tentative solution: tie invis to crouch. Why is invis the best of both worlds, where you get buffed movement speed AND invis? Shouldn’t you have to choose between the two? Invis can have a movement speed buff such that she can move faster than most while crouching, but slower than her normal run, so she still has to respect angle control because in order to ignore angle control she has to sacrifice uptime. Then the invis cooldown could be lowered to like 0.75s because you just can’t go nearly as far as fast in invis, and because translocator removes you from invis. As this is a big hit to her overall mobility, give translocator two charges on a slightly longer cooldown (6-7s is fine)-you could possibly go back to old translocator with this but I’m not attached to either version of translocator, so I’ll stick to new translocator for this rework idea. Additionally make hack’s cast time *slightly* longer as while hacking and staying invis is gone, hacking *from* invis is still nigh unpreventable and need not be. Then balance the rest of her kit around these changes, and I don’t know that she’d be fine after that, but she’d be a lot less polarizing while maintaining all of her power fantasy.

Give sombra's EMP a new feature that refunds part of her ult charge based on number of players EMPed. If you only ult 1 enemy refund 1/3 of her ult, if she ults 2 enemies refund 1/6 if she ults 3+ refund none. Numbers are just for example idk what they would uave to be balance wise. But this would give her the flexibility to solo ult a key target without feeling like you wasted your emp on a single enemy, since you get charge back when it affects fewer players! It adds some gameplay depth too because you have more pros and cons to how you choose to use emp, so it would make sombra more dynamic and skill expressive!

I think Ruben is on to something. I like his idea about EMP amping her existing kit, some ideas: 1. EMP could also give Sombra infinite translocation for the duration of the EMP, along with infinite ammo, like Mauga. 2. EMP could include the sped up/amped virus effect on targets within the epicenter of her EMP, but be the same as it is now for those further away. 3. EMP could also "hack" her teamates within the EMP radius, not just the enemy team. Perhaps resetting all their cooldowns and/or damage boosting.

I just don't see how having to look where you throw TL is bad. I know these maps like the back of my hand and I only have 200 hours on this game. I basically flickshot translocator wherever I want it and the action is so fast that I can barely even see what I'm doing yet never miss. I'm not trying to flex here, I don't think I'm special. I hate sombra with a passion as someone who enjoys playing Ana, zen, rein, and hanzo.
