Bro I have a 91 and am building it out now. Although I wish I left the framing more in tact I will definitely be using the crawl space above the bed and cab more efficiently 🤙

@@thenomadicexperience it does, I’ve seen this kind of set up and a third video confirms this is a great set up. Just looking for something on the net to set up my personal sink. Like a kitchen island, or a kitchen counter either from habitat for humanity or FB market.

Like your simplicity… well deserve a “subscribe” and a “like”. I looking to purchase this same van. Any mechanical issues that you’ve noticed so far? Anything I should look out for?
@thenomadicexperience Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you!! I’ve had to get multiple repairs done over the years, (the most annoying was an electrical issue that took a few days to figure out) but it’s an old van so maintenance/repairs are to be expected after driving thousands of miles. But so far the engine itself has been solid, and honestly there’s been less breakdowns than I thought. I wouldn’t necessarily know if there’s anything specific to look out for, but definitely keep a good chunk of $ set aside for emergency repairs, especially if you’re getting one around the same model year. Also, keep in mind the gas mileage is really terrible, not gonna lie 😅 but good luck and I hope this helps!

Nice set up the only thing I see wrong is your carbon monoxide alarm it needs to be on floor wall carbon monoxide is heavy for your alarm to work the van will half to be full with carbon monoxide to go off an it will be later for you when alarm goes off I had mine down on my floor in shuttle bus

You’re right I have heard this before, thanks for reminding me

What a great job on van love it now honey you go out be safe and have a blast
@hayjust13 жыл бұрын
please move your carbon monoxide detector down towards floor or mid way. Propane is heavy and will fill your van before it reaches where you have it mounted. I'm sure its not super air tight but a freezing day running a lil buddy and you may not wake up to see the next freezing day. Hope my advice helps.
@thenomadicexperience3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, someone’s mentioned that before and I’ve since moved it. Lil buddy has an automatic low-oxygen shutoff which is also great🤙

Hey man nice build! Where’d you purchase the swivel seat, currently looking for one?
@thenomadicexperience3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jayla! The swivel seats actually came with the van when I bought it. Looks like you should be able to buy a swivel base & attach that to a regular seat as long as it’s compatible.

I'm lookin at a 92 B350. Looks awesome. 99k miles on it. Any known major issues? Is it diesel?
@thenomadicexperience Жыл бұрын
Very nice!! I'm not sure of any known issues, we've had our fair share of pricey repairs including brake system & electrical, but the engine has always been solid so far. These old vans have so much character! Good luck to you!

Just bought an 88' Dodge B250 last month, stoked! Your build looks similar to how I've started mine. Minimalistic yet effective and cozy. Question, looks like you kept the original sidewall upholstery & insulation, Correct? Do you find it insulates pretty well?
@thenomadicexperience3 жыл бұрын
Cool, Alex! Yeah I kept the walls and flooring as they were. I think the insulation could be better but it’s better than nothing.

Grandma here just bought 2001 dodge ram van moved out of my apartment due to f inflation just working to pay rent is not a life at all. I removed the carpet, exhausting. What is the cheapest way to do flooring?
@thenomadicexperience Жыл бұрын
Hello, sorry for the late response, for some reason I missed this comment. My van has vinyl flooring, and I believe that would be one of the cheapest options.

One question. How did u get that front passenger seat to swivel around?
@thenomadicexperience Жыл бұрын
I bought it like that, but you can also buy swivel bases like this one: www.amazon.com/Swivel-Pro-Seat-Model-5006/dp/B005JIZS64/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?adgrpid=119424434829&hvadid=557323576078&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9029766&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=17813598055427843988&hvtargid=kwd-323929782646&hydadcr=11115_13463730&keywords=conversion+van+swivel+seats&qid=1681316341&sr=8-4

What are the interior dimensions? I'm looking to buy this make, model, and year, and I want to be able to stand. Thanks for the video!
@thenomadicexperience2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashleigh, thanks for watching! Interior height is 5ft. (I definitely have to hunch over or sit down while in the van) but there is one area near the front that is about 5 inches taller. About 11ft long (not including the cab) and about 5’ 8” wide. These specs are all interior, with insulation.

@thenomadicexperience3 жыл бұрын
Hi Estin, As far as income, I saved up over a long period of time before vanlife, then quit my job and simply dug into my savings for about a year. Later on I was lucky enough to land a flexible remote job that pays the bills. I’m not currently making any money off of youtube (not enough subscribers) so I’m doing this as a hobby right now. My only advice for you would be to figure out what you value most and be willing to make sacrifices. Everybody’s situation is different. Maybe start by switching back and forth between vanlife and a regular day job? We’re all in this journey together. Best of luck to you. -Jaxon

@@thenomadicexperience thank you i appreciate that one last question what would be a reasonable amount to have before starting vanlife for only one person ?
@thenomadicexperience3 жыл бұрын
@@estincaptures it really depends on a lot of things… gas mileage, where you want to go, how often you’ll be driving, how long you’ll be out… try sitting down and creating a budget for yourself. The nice thing is you don’t have to include rent in your budget.
