yeah i think you can indeed leapfrog others with this van life strategy working a normal 9-5 and also experience some peace with fewer distractions . You probably will want to read more and be more active if you home is a tight van. Our homes can be comfy and we can waste our entire day just on the couch playing fifa or COD. In a van you may want to unwind but not all damn day. Your gonna be grinding reading, and stuff to get to a place you want to be.

living in a van isnt as cheap as people think.
@OutdoorsEmbrace
@OutdoorsEmbrace 2 жыл бұрын
@@Zesmas it definitely can be, depending on the person. Living in a van gives you the ability to live for way cheaper. The pivot points are at gas usage and how much you drive (...more than if you were in a house?), food should be the same, rent is completely gone from equation optimally speaking, hotspot data, and insurance. The biggest difference then would be gas. If you get antsy in van life, it's easier to just drive to avoid bordom. So it can be more expensive. But if you lived exactly like you do inside of a house, then vanlife is way cheaper. Even RV insurance on my van is 1/10th the yearly cost I ever spend on a normal car insurance.

I do it out of a 2014 chevy traverse. 3rd row seating makes it about the same size as a mini van. You have to be a need person, not a want person at your core to do it. I'm amazed at how little I actually need.

I like the wall you built between the front seats and the back of the van. The wood stove looks wonderful too. I would probably add a rear view mirror dash cam, like the Pormido 998S. Then you can "see" out of your back window while driving, even if the back windows are blocked.

I've seen alot of these builds as I've been doing research on them lately, and alot are crazier than this... but everything in this is so usable and simple yet to the point. Also you just seem relatable as a person and honestly this is such a sick build! My thoughts exactly! I just got hooked watching buses & rvs turned into tiny homes.. this is amazing tho to help with the sad fact so many places don't allow over night camping.. Plus imagine how safe you would feel hidden back inside a van
@vincenzopromedia
@vincenzopromedia 2 жыл бұрын
Idk about that. I'm beginning to think it's not that big of a deal being able to stand up inside the van because it just depends on what you're trying to do, and how you intend on doing it. The bigger the van the less places you can go. I think a lot of people are scared that if they can't stand up in it that they won't be able to do the things they need to do to live in it. Because it's like, why spend that much time in the van? And that's really what the big question is. Do you need to stretch, or do you just want to? And is it worth not being able to take the van certain places?

Hell yea, pulls out the way you protect your home/vehicle at 7:00 haha. Awesome stealthy build, and I've been wanting to setup something for a long time. A lot of these give me ideas and inspire me more. How people setup their things and that you can have a different way of having a bed come out and all with a good bit of space instead of be in a tiny corner. Starts making things a little bit more feasible and make sense and how much/what gear you need. Other van vids have mentioned they were glad they got a bigger sink, so I'll have to keep that in mind.

I'm really getting into this idea for retirement. Being by myself, an introvert, and very resourceful, I find the idea exciting! All the work involved to me would be something to keep life interesting and the thought of being a free agent would be euphoric to me. As far as expense, here in the northeast, you sign a year lease for $25K, so even if the initial cost is high, it'll pay off in a year or two. In years back I would never have thought this way, but in today's world, I find it highly appealing.

Fellow Intro here. I also relish the idea of a van like this and setup to be liveable. I would save so much money and can pretty much sleep in a ton of different areas. I would be more willing to work because i know I am saving a shit ton, have a peaceful life now as I can head over to a deserted area and chill play nintendo switch and sleep without loud nosey neighbors. Work and go do some van shit locally. Only thing I would be worried about is the summer months and the high heat. I would have to figure out a solution or ask to temporarily change my shift. I am in my bed just envisioning how it would be if i was in a van right now and it makes me smile.because the freedom. This area is loud let me drive down the block to an empty lot, crack open the window and chill the fuck out. With these style vans people wouldn't think twice. Just looks like a company van. I really am considering this shit now. If I can't make the money I want this will be my alternate route for sure.

My uncle cut a hole in the floor of his 1976 van. He put a bucket with a seat over the hole, then would park in a parking lot and drop a deuce. Brother, you've done it right. The hallway style works best in my opinion. It allows you to move freely from front to back. I will give you one great idea. Get a very small cheap electric leaf blower. You can thank me later. I had a large extended roof van and I absolutely hated sweeping it out. I spent a lot of time near the beach and sand would get everywhere. With the leaf blower, you can literally blow everything straight out your back doors in seconds. And not just the dirt on the floor but all the dust in your van. I even used it to get into my electronics and blow the dust out of them as well. I couldn't believe how simple and efficient that one little device was. It's a game changer.

Hey man, your original video showing off your van is the video that got me into van life. It's awesome to see how your van's evolved over the years. I just finished Uni and got some shit I have to pay off, but I'm planning on doing saving up for a van conversion of my own ASAP, so thanks for pushing me down the rabbit hole of van life youtube!

Your build is beautiful and it looks so spacious inside! I always wonder when people use the word “Shower” but nobody ever mentions “Bath”. If there’s a small enough enclosed space, you can be seated, fill up a bucket and take a bath. I have seen people use a small removable bucket surrounded by shower curtains to take a bath in. The shower certain curls around the tub in a cone shaped like a small teepee tent. You should also look into a back up source of heat just in case you go in an area where wood is in short supply like an Espar or Webasto diesel heater and maybe add a cellular signal booster like a weboost since your Internet depends on cell phone signal but great build otherwise.

LMAO on the P365 upgrade. It was surprising to pull your piece in the first video, and similarly in the second.

One of the best if not best van builds I’ve ever seen. I did my van conversion a -year after you did yours and got so many good ideas that I incorporated into my build. I like that you built your van specifically to accommodate your lifestyle. It wouldn't work for me, but I don't live your life, so that's cool! I wish I had the hutzpah to do this when I was younger. MUCH younger. I am nearing retirement age now, so my wife and I are making plans to sell our property and move into an RV. Our children (and grandchildren) live very far apart, so we want to be able to spend a couple months here and a couple of months there and the winter in the southwest. But your cozy little van look awful nice. Might have been something I could have gone for if I had thought of it before I got married nearly 40 years ago.

I love my 2001 Ford V6, white, clean body, barn doors very similar to this one, easy to work on had her for about 4 years too. Highly recommended the older Fords for a great start out van. I've only had to change the starter & power steering pump. Along with treating her good, tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations & full self-inspection, top off fluids, tire pressure, check for any fluid leaks underneath every Thursday ready for the weekend.👍🏼 p.s. got to talk about my piss jug I like to think I invented, LoL. I took a exacto blade and cut out the nozzle on a tide laundry detergent bottle, leaving about 1/4 around the edge so the cap screws on nice and tight still, those bottles are shaped like a pear with the bottom cut off so they can wobble around but always stay up, way bigger porthole to do your business ( I've had some malfunctions with smaller bottles when I really had to go ! )🤤 it's got a big fat handle to hold onto & no one can see what's inside of it, just your average laundry detergent bottle & just so if there was ever a mix-up I've got my Dole pineapple sticker on the cap.🍌😉 I wish you many new Happy adventures with Megalodon & and hope I get a response from you about the longest comment about a piss jug. Cheers😆✌🏼🏄🏻‍♂️🏂🎣🌲🍻

I always wondered why guys don't use hospital pissoirs (lol I'm Dutch and think pissoir is a nice word for piss bottle)! It's probably French. Anyways next time I'm hospitalized will ask the nurses for one, I think the opening may be wide enough for women too. When I'm hospitalized I'm not allowed to use the bathroom by myself so I use a large pink water pitcher. I should get one of each and experiment. I've seen very compact Nissan nv200 toilets with a urine separator in a small bucket that seems great too.

. I have a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan STX with a shit load of options too long to list here. One option that is my favorite is Dodge's VES or Video Entertainment System. This is a factory option with 2 DVD players and 3 screens. There are 2) 10 inch diagonal fold down screens, one each for the second and third row seats, and there's a third screen in the front dash that goes to a neutral screen if the transmission is taken out of park and it doubles as the backup camera monitor in reverse. I have an aluminum brief case with 200 DVD movies in it that I keep in the van. One other feature of this is 2 AV ports in the back with a 150 watt 110 VAC inverter to plug game consoles into. The 2 screens in the back have their own wireless headphones on their own stereo channels so that 2 game consoles can be played independently from each other without bothering mom and dad. My youngest is 27 and is not about to drag his PS5 out to my van. I bought a ROKU stick which uses a UHF radio remote rather than an infrared unit. I also bought an HDMI input to AV output adapter and a dual 5 volt cell phone charger. On the drivers side panel in the rear behind the electric sliding door resides the 2 AV system inputs, the inverter outlet and a 12 VDC outlet. I plugged the the ROKU into the HDMI converter and their 2) 5 volt cords into the dual charger. I plugged the AV adaptor into one of the AV inputs and the charger into the inverter. Then, I placed the whole setup in the drivers side rear window for the strongest signal. I park in the disabled spaces closest to the buildings when possible and never have a problem getting a WIFI signal as far out as the 4th space from the building. The inverter switch is in the dash in the front. I push the button, the ROKU loads up and I'm off to the show. Almost all of the doctors offices and hospitals in our area are associated with the West Virginia University hospital system and all have free open WIFI for patient use as does Walmart and Kroger grocery stores. After 11 spine surgeries, I am disabled. My wife used to have seizures so she's never had a drivers license. When it's time to go grocery shopping or if she has a doctor appointment or a test or procedure scheduled at a hospital, I do the driving. She goes in and does her thing and I flip on the inverter, set the VES to "AUX 2" and watch Prime, HULU, KZbin or any of 30 other channels that spark my interest. If I'm not in the mood for ROKU, I slide a movie into one of the players to pass the time. Being that all of this runs on the starter battery, I traded in the 500 cranking amp battery that came with it for a 985 cranking amp to allow for more run time. Especially if the inverter is involved. After a particularly painful spine surgery between my shoulders two years ago, that inverter was invaluable for running a heating pad while driving as it helped to relieve muscle spasms in my shoulders and neck areas. I plugged it in, ran the heating pad up to my seat and pushed the button in the dash. It made it much more comfortable to drive.

Lived and traveled in an Econoline E-250 for a couple years. Named her the "Prophet of Doom" Hands down, it was the best vehicle I've ever lived in. I've also had a sprinter, a minivan, and a truck with a bed camper. It's a work van so it "belongs" everywhere, cheap to insure, cheap maintenance, surprising amount of internal space, and an engine like a Timex (my coolant overflow reservoir was a kitty litter container that I had to jury rig on the side of the road).
