Makes me angry, Habitat for Humanity and other groups could build very cheap homes for OUR PEOPLE; instead of sending OUR $$ to OTHER countries, it should STAY HERE!!

GREAT IDEA - CONTINUE TO BUILD HOMES THAT ARE 100 MILES FROM THE NEAREST JOB - I CAN'T SEE ANY FLIES ON THAT IDEA!!!!! Your idea is the crazy one that has perpetuated this non-sense for the last 40 years. I lived near Pine Ridge nearly 40 years ago and as a 21 I figured out the problem - it took about 5 minutes to understand it and what would not work. What will not work is more goob programs; what will work is a job. Jobs are not going to locate to the res - people of the res need to locate near the jobs. If they build new homes, the homes will be wreaked in less than 10 years and the people will be living exactly as they are for years 10 to 50, after the home is dilapidated.

I'm a black male, and I've been telling people for the longest that environment and poverty the leading cause of drug abuse and crime. I grew up in the same type of environment, but no longer live in poverty. Education was my outlet. My heart goes out to these people, because no one should have to live in such deplorable conditions, especially in the USA. No schools for miles? SMH! The US government should be ashamed of themselves. They need to step in an assist these good people, as well as veterans and other impoverished people, instead of sending US tax payers money to all these other countries, especially since those same countries hate us Americans and our way of life.

Thing is Everything they are going through blacks in America is going thru and we don’t even know it this shit is Horrible We really need to Band with the Natives and Demand our Reparations Because we both thru the same thing natives have gone thru literally their is no difference besides melanin percentage

One of the most compelling instances that has come out of the european involvement in indigenous affairs is that evil men of the world look at the genocide and design established by centuries of "greed" has been used by tyrants such as Hilter. Hitler was a prisoner, a convict and manipulator. A monster that civilized world hasn't dealt with in while. I say this because there were a few times when the idea's were put out amongst U S senators and congressmen to actually instill a motive of corrections of the government's agreeing with their own treaties, for instance " one instance anyway", president Ulysses S.Grants adujant General at the surrender of the confederate army at Appomattox and and officer directed by general Grant to write the conditions of surrender was a aboriginal chief named Ely Parker of the Seneca Nation a US soldier. President Calvin Coolidge had appointed A Dakota educated doctor to study the affairs and means to help the indigenous of america constuct a livelihood, his name was Dr. Charles Eastman a Dakota indigenous. The timeline ran out on the administration and the idea's fell in to the evil corrupting hands of men of greed bent on destroying and covering up their genocidal ways of design by government law, and make the lands they stole along with the resources contribute to individuals wealth rule of everything from science to military conquest. So, there you have it in a nut shell. Your ghetto type living is another explanation, but proportionate of relating to the same but overlaying facts.

I mentor every day and share my experiences and hopefully I teach one. I refuse to give up and hopefully those who left for college return back to our lands and give back. educate the young the real history of our people. Dear Sioux People. Beloved Earth Tribe, you are a noble and honored race of Human Kind. Please do not ask for surgeons and housing. Please build traditional Sioux homes that will reconnect you to The Mother. Plant traditional healing plants and sustainable gardens. Dance, sing, tell the old stories to the children. Start a Buffalo and Mustang rehabilitation program. Teach the children to hunt and plant and nurture our Mother back to health. Restore the natural balance. Live sustainably and replace the spirit that is in the bottle with The Great Spirit, good food planted, nurtured and harvested by the young ones. Bring your tribe back to the Great Mother Earth. Practice your healing traditions. You are MUCH needed now. Please REMEMBER. AWAKEN. Please. Much Love.

For those of you commenting about there being “no school for miles”, let me just say that that’s very common for rural areas. The town I lived in as a small child lost its school because of dropping enrollment. The twenty seven of us kids left in town rode the bus 30 miles each way every day to get to school. There were many kids who were 15 or 20 miles from the school. It’s just part of rural life.

These people are too lazy and complaining too loud ‼️‼️‼️‼️ They don’t have to stay reservations nobody make them to stay there.

I just drove through Wyoming and Montana, and there are so many trees laying on the ground from past fires. Why can't you get a portable saw mill and cut enough lumber to build tiny houses for everyone who needs them. World Vision is an organization who sells 800 dollar windows for 25 bucks, Moen sinks and faucet sets for 10 dollars, roofing and insulation for cheap. They even give the stuff away to really needy families. The people need to work together again and fix this. I'll help.

I think the way forward is to go back and live how the grandfathers did. Or, better yet, create a new way that is true and connected to the ancient ways and traditions. A way that has true potential to help and lift everyone. (No one should be left out.) It's important not to focus on how life doesn't match up with the rest of the country. You don't want to match up. You want to rise to a higher standard. Meet the needs of all the people. Make it better than the rest of the country. Show them how it's done. Show them a better way by leading by example. Stay true to tradition and culture. The blueprints for a "better life", for a more balanced way of life were left by the ones that came before us. They left the clues everywhere. It's time to dust them off, reexamine them, and apply them. The right energies will come back around and stay to heal the people, the land, the ancestors, and the memories of the past. They will teach us. No housing? Build new houses, better houses than the rest of the country. They don't even have to remotely reassemble their homes. Build them the way they were built before being interrupted by the ones that came to take the knowledge and stamp it out of existence so they could change the narrative and dominate. (You can't dominate an educated person. So, they did their best to stamp it out. Their faulty plan didn't work though. It didn't work because the knowledge has remained strong and has survived to this day. This has happened for a reason. This was by design. Truth, justice, and Love will always prevail, for all of creation is true, just, and Love.) Or, start out by using the same technology, and then add in new technology where any weakness may occur. No one should be living in apartments anyway. We deserve our own safe spaces with land to feed our families and nature to feed or souls. Plant food and harness energy, even alternative energy, the way the ancients did. The way Tesla did. No schools? Create them. Only, teach the true knowledge, not the knowledge of lies the rest of the country feeds on. Throw in some of their curriculum to make them happy and leaving you alone. But let the student know the difference, the truth, and the reality, first. It's time for action. It's time to stand up and peacefully resist them by not giving up and fighting to do everything to keep the ancient teachings and ways alive and sharing them with others. To let them know that despite all of their dirty efforts, the foresight of the ancestors has kept these wonderful traditions, cultures, truths, and knowledge about all of existence and who we all truly are, alive and strong within the people. Honor them by teaching the youth to carry on in a more balanced way. They will be healed and, in turn, will help heal the rest of creation. Know that it's not as easy as it sounds, but also, that it is. Especially with everyone working together. The work is not a burden, it's a blessing and a gift. It's the gift of creation. Get everyone involved through every step of the process. Give them meaning and purpose. Let everyone feel the wonderful exhilaration of planning, creating, co-creating, and inventing new ways and ideas to create solutions for problems that exist that are built on the foundations of older and very wise creations. If you can't or don't want to do it the way of the rest of the country, then don't. Create a better way. Maintain trade agreements between different reservations, peoples, businesses, and countries even. That way you can have access to supplies at more affordable rates. Maybe you won't even have to exchange money but services and goods instead. Create a better way. Their dollar is going to crash anyway. It's better to already have an established system already set up. No longer depend on others for anything. Create your own industries, mills, factories, products, produce and ways to manufacture, produce, reproduce, and distribute. Use, share, and distribute goods and services. Create an empire within. This will create purpose for everyone. Everyone needs purpose. Create a more balanced society along side of theirs and thrive. Show then how it's done. This will have a rippling effect. This will cause them to look at themselves. They will eventually either change or die out. Which is what they were expecting of the ones that were already here. This is just. All of creation is just, therefore we must also practice to be just in all situations and circumstances and with all beings. Have a most wonderful and blessed day everyone.

No one should ever believe we were handed down a self-professed prophecy of destroying ourselves for an eternity (though the government has tried and continues to try to abolish native brothers and sisters). Sooner or later, we have to say enough is enough and detach from the umbilical cord of the government. Must rise from the ashes. Just as many of us leave our home at a young age, and through many struggles, somehow make it on our own.

They have the same problems that all Americans in poverty have. There needs to be a way to help and allow these folks to be lifted out of this life. Don't depend on the system. Don't stay on the Res. Get off, make it right and then go back and save the others. Don't let others decide your future.

I have 2 relatives who got off the Rez. They beat chances of addiction, one was moved out of state to attend HS and returned. She now works as a waitress in Rapid City and the rest of the family is on the reservation. Do you know how many people put in effort to make sure she had a good life?? I’m not sure what the answer is but the fact that it takes many to get ONE good outcome doesn’t speak well of the help we give to fellow humans.

Greetings from France. The situation depicted in this video is alarming. I'm wondering, what do the US governement or the state of dakota do to change this ? What programs are already run there ? Anyway, I'm checking the True Sioux Hope Foundation's website, in order to see how I could help. As one lady in the video says, there seems to be a local problem in the leadership ; that's an issue you as a community needs to address. You sure need to find hope in the future again, and being being able to speak with one voice would clearly help you.

This is so sad. I am part Indian and this is appalling to see the poverty. What will be their futures. So very sad. This is their indoctrination to keep them physically and mentally on the lowest levels. They will need deprogramming in order to move forward. For many years the government has kept them on reservations in poverty and lack. That's all they know. They will have to reach inside who they were before white folks and pull out THE GREAT SPIRIT OF DIRECTION to raise themselves above what was forced upon them. I pray they never give up to succeed.

Sorry to see some of the replies here, especially when I have lived with the knowledge of the Great Spirit and reincarnation all my life, and of former lives going back a long time ago, including the Indian nations during their struggles with the invading white man. When one sees that we are fundamentnally spiritual in nature, with the opportunity to attain eternal life through our earthly wheel of reincarnation, which evolves both on earth, and in the immediate beyond between lives, then our purpose and the laws of Creation become clear. How could someone, for example, learn all that is needed in school in a few years, to gain the necessary skills of life, when it is a progressive lifelong process. And the mercy of the Great Spirit allows us the time to develop our spiritual characteristics, so we can achieve our main purpose, which is to ennoble our inner essence by employing these assets to beautify our outward surroundings. This naturally means cultivating the right kind of lifestyle and inner values, for which we need the various incarnations. As it is for all people, my development took me through many places, from India to the UK, and also four lives in the native indians tribes of the US. A person can develop a sense of memory for such events, and usually feels strongly attracted to a specific people, place or even individuals. You literally feel as though you have known them all your life, despite the fact you only met them recently in this life. And this is not an ego trip, although men can make something egotistical of any element of life, if they so wish. It is oft about discovering your own identity and true lifelong journey, which belongs to the soul, and this is the real you as it adds a profound depth of meaning to one's life, although it needs doing in an intuitively natural and personal way, for this knowledge is sacred to the individual, unless a special mission has been delegated to someone, as was the case with people like Crazy Horse and Tecumseh, who revealed their quests, in an attempt to retain and revive not only the native Indian way, but the spiritual way. And this has been repeatedly necessary throughout history, to attempt to keep awake the sleeping and slumbering spirit of man, which has forgotten its origin, not just of former lives, but more importantly of a place called Paradise, an eternal hunting ground for the fully developed and mature spirit, where man is finally safe from the material cycle of dissolution and rebirth, which will end with the necessary destruction of the earth. Sadly, this may occur prematurely if man does not awaken from his ways, the ways of the modern white man, a race who was predetermined and meant to uplift the whole human race and species. In truth, this upliftment is our main sole purpose, and that men have forgotten this, it is their fault, not others who show they are awakening when they recall a former life, or are drawn to the place where they once lived, and the people with it. This proves that envy is rife in society, and the greatest aspect of a person's life that others will envy, is the spiritual freedom and higher development and awareness that this brings with it, for a person signifies that they are becoming free of this world, as opposed to facing certain destruction like the greater majority who have forgotten their spiritual roots, and with this neglected a spiritual way of living. I do not know the indians now, but in this disucssion it is worth noting that the general character of a people can change over the years, due to the laws of motion, development and homogeniety, as a tribe will evolve and respond to their surroundings, historical events and environment. Many indigenous peoples suffered due to the lack of spirituality of the then white race, but the wheel of reincarnation, which dictates the possibility of mercy in all matters, ensures that all wrong and evil paths and deeds can and must be atoned. It is interesting that the best way to achieve this is to suffer the consequences of one's own actions, and so it is highly likely that in many cases, although not all, many of the white race of the 1700 and 1800's who assisted in the demise of the native indians, have probably at some time, reincarnated into these very tribes. So suffering can be seen as the most vital form of experiential learning for man, and although he may not recall his former actions, he can nevertheless overcome his faults and attitudes, until he atones and becomes free of his karma. Then with a clarified and purified spirit, he will begin to see the working of Creation, the fundamental laws, and then begin to retrieve, or become more aware of, these laws, his former lives and their meaning. It is also worth noting at this conjuncture that the law of homogeneity, or birds of a feather flock together scenario, will ensure that the strongest habits, characteristics, or complulsions, that pervade a people, will impel the attraction of similar minded people, and this works with absolute precision in the beyond, thus determining the destiny of where a person on departing this earth must travel, for he will always go to a place connected to his densest addiction, in accordance with natural laws of gravity. The native indians, for a number of reasons, and not least the great losses they suffered in a short period of time, and along with the dubious methods of the white men back then, began to drink heavily. Thus, they formed a bridge to the beyond for alcoholics to incarnate into their tribes, along with the many issues that come with this type of co-dependency. For those who live in these tribes, I have no doubt you can still see and trace these elements. In fact, if one was to trace the history of these tribes, one would be able top pinpoint the period during which they succumbed to the propensity, which naturally had a catastrophic impact and effect upon their culture and way of life. Every race is subject to these laws, and it is man's duty to recognise them, so that by complying with them, he does not reap unfortunate events and experiences, which he has undoubtedly brought upon himself through his ignorance, for what a man sows, he must reap. In conclusion, I know that many of the former indians are reincarnated in other lands and peoples, as explained in the book 'the return of the bird tribes'. This book, along with many prophecies speak of this time, when the blinded material men will have pushed the earth and nations to the brink of complete annhilation and disaster. Surely anyone and everyone can begin to see the earth and world we live on and in are far from right. Our spiritual freedom is gained by recognising the faults of these erroneous paths, and amending our thoughts and behaviours, so that our spirits and the earth can be reborn. If man fail in this, as is prophesied, they and the earth will be destroyed by God's servants, the animistic elementals, or nature beings, who oversee our environment, atonement and development. For those who succeed, it is likely that they will be able to complete their cycle of reincarnation upon a reborn earth, and will inherit lands that are akin to their former lands, even the very lands where they joyously connected with nature at one time, including those of the indian tribes. Thus, a fulfillment of the ancient prophecies can then come about through this spiritual transformation of man, which is desperately needed to avert the the destruction of the world. It is important therefore to put aside any egostistical accusations of any form, and cleanse our own spiritual garments, and then in silence make good your wrongs, and seek the connection with the Light powers from Above that constantly pervade the planet, and beckon us to take up arms for the Light upon this path and for the struggle against the Darkness, for the salvation of ourselves, our brothers, our sisters, our parents and children, and for our kinsmen, past and present. May you be blessed in this endeavour and all the necessary struggles that will necessarily come your way for it is now to be, or not to be, for the whole of mankind. Let us not be found wanting in these last moments, and give credence to and honour those former native indian leaders and prophets, who gave their time and lives to a worthy cause, the spritual liberation of their fellow men!

People have commented, In this fourum "Why can't they farm the land? There's several reasons, like there has to be good quality soil, Then what do you do?, When your waiting for the crops to grow? The Caucasians killed millions of the buffalo heard. And not all Native peoples signed " treaties" (do to being lied to).
