We were born in the valley Of the dead and the wicked Where our father's father fell To the crimes he'd committed We were young when we heard you Call our names in the silence Still you lead me Never leave me Still you lead me Never leave me

Then the song ends by playing the music to Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, a song about how Jesus saves people who are lost.

i will never get tired of all the motifs that keep getting recalled across songs and albums. it's so rewarding listening to the songs in an album in order just to hear how seamlessly they all flow into each other. the high tune that plays throughout feels like the celebration of an adventure, which then the song ends in a sort of lullaby. really one of my favorite songs from them. it's filled with such liveliness and warmth

Maybe you already know, but the bit at the end of this song is from an old Christian Hymn called "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing." Their music is full of Biblical references if you look for them. They're definitely the absolute best Christian band I've heard in quite a while, super underrated.

@@JumboNateBob i knew it was a christian song, but i could never remember the title! thanks haha. i always just played "noel, noel" in my head whenever that part came on

i've always loved this one.. feels more like a marching tune so much life and force in this im just.. if the valley asks "will You lead me??" the reprise screams of being led, of faith, of trust... even through deep dark valleys.

Hands down, this is the best Christian music out there right now. I love the "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" instrumental at the end of this song so much!

I love the fact that they improvised something near the end of the Reprise. Some gibberish can be heard ( pa- pa -racha or something) and it's the best thing, it aligns perfectly as a harmony. Every live performance recorded incorporates their chant.

I started listening to The Oh Hellos not long before I started going to therapy, and their music has been helping me through thick and thin. I will never get tired of listening. ♡

We were born in the valley Of the dead and the wicked That our father's father found And where we laid him down We were born in the shadow Of the crimes of our fathers Blood was our inheritance No, we did not ask for this Will you lead me? We were young when we heard you call Our names in the silence Like a fire in the dark Like a sword upon our hearts We came down to the water And we begged for forgiveness Shadows lurking close behind We were fleeing for our lives Will you lead me?
