Desharnais got drafted late in the 7th round in his last year of eligibility. He played his way up from the ECHL, AHL, and now the NHL for just over a year. It has been incredible to see how much growth he has had in theis past year!

Not to mention, he considered quitting hockey when he was in Wichita in the ECHL. He really got put through the ringer mentally, but fought through it and now he’s a consistent NHLer. The positive attitude he always has comes as a result of Desharnais just enjoying everything day by day, FAR from how he was feeling just a couple years ago. Absolute beauty of a player!

@@duaneday5474yes, and he's only scored 1 goal since joining the team that was a deflection I think? Hes not the guy they give the puck to and does a one timer, he always tries to put the puck to a teammate for a deflection. It's kinda crazy how the Norris trophy for best defenseman goes to a player with the most points and not the player who plays the best defensive game. He's gotta to work on his breakout play a bit. I noticed he will just put the puck up the boards if he's pressured but he's got an undeniable presence on the ice. He's gonna be a solid true d-man that just does his job

Although I am a 60+ year Ranger fan, I am first and foremost a hockey fan and love watching a good game no matter who is playing. Since the coaching change the Oilers are doing that. I'm trying to pick holes but all I can come up with is slow starts and some sloppy play (of late). I've gotten on Leon for floating around a bit too much but the guy undoubtedly makes up for it anyway. Been going to their games since the WHA so I thought I've seen everything... Nope. This has been a pretty impressive run and I suspect it won't end soon with their toughest challenge after the break being Anaheim (they'll actually show up for Vegas. Not worried). Nurse dives like that all the time, ya he always goes the wrong way and doesn’t help anything by doing it and takes himself out of the play but he still does it 😂

as good as they have been and as good as they have become they still have a lot of work to do and will need to make a trade imo for someone at the deadline i do not see them being good enough to beat vegas, avs, canucks or dallas in a 7 game series

@@user-ji3il6ce2o ya, just wasted the sedins, Bure, lindens careers, not to mention the best captain you ever had in messier. but my comment was more towards the fact you only have fans now when your winning, I will enjoy the first round sweep no matter who you play though, and the inevitable riots from the classiest of fans.

That's the thing that's crazy about this run, besides these last two games McDavid hasn't played bad but him and draisaitl haven't had to will then to victory. They are actually getting solid contributions from everyone

But their defence have to stop making these no-look little dink passes deep in their own zone, especially when under pressure. I've seen a few times where these are intercepted and lead to an opportunity for no good reason. And as your video showed, the entire defence were pulled to one side of the ice. Yes, you showed what a great block but just freeze-frame it and see how poor the coverage was. They have to shore this up before the playoffs.
