I've owned more wonder semi-automatic pistols (glock fan boy here) and had experience with them in actual combat than I have revolvers.... ( to list just a few...I've been down range in Desert Storm and Somalia with the beretta M9...and served as a peace officer with the S&W 686+) I ain't a boomer but I also ain't some snot nose millenial that thinks the world is going burn up in 12 years if he don't start driving a tesla and hollars out 'Ok Boomer!" everytime he loses an argument...So when I say that.38 special in +p is highly underrated..I think I can say it with some confidence that .38 specials still have a place in my edc rotation to protect me and my loved ones. No doubt, 357 Magnum is Awesome! But it has its limitations as well...like cuncussion ( especially if you live in the city like me enclosed tight spaces are a reality), muzzle blast, recoil, shot follow up, and overall training costs. I've owned terrific .357's in the past like S&W 686+ in 2 Inch [CCW] and 4 inch as a [duty gun], but I seem to always go back to a .38 special as a ccw rotation (I currently rotate a 642 and taurus 856 into my edc depending on the clothing I wear)...So I say, If it ain't broke why fix it? It's true what hickock 45 says, "in the end its really about shot placement, all pistols and calibers do the same basic thing...make people leak....
@LionquestFitness

Interesting post you made. You actually refrain from using .357 for the same reasons I do. And, I carry a 642 when I need deep concealment, and currently rotate the 856 with the Model 10. With the 642 I carry the Underwood for recoil management in case I have to shoot with one hand, and with the 856 I go with 125 grain Remington Plus P. I also got a good laugh out of the Hickok quote!

I'm a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and a boomer. My kids tell me I am as old as dirt! But being 70 I have seen a lot of changes in life and seen pistols come and go. I teach a lot of new students that want the new polymer guns and I can shoot them just fine, but my joy is carrying and shooting my revolvers. I do enjoy shooting all my guns (Glocks, S&W shields, .22 pistols) but to me there is nothing like shooting a fine revolver. My present revolver that I carry is a S&W 642 Airlight. Small, light, and very accurate. So, I said all that to say this: I love your channel, have subscribed, and want to encourage you to keep on going!

You'd have laughed if you had heard my conversation with a young police firearms instructor. We were at the range and he was telling me there were very few police instructor who could "master" the difficulty of a revolver anymore. I let him talk and just agreed with him. They never get that if you can master a revolver, shooting any other handgun is easy. They are so wrapped up in the current tactic of standing flatfooted to the target and using a thumbs over grip anything else seems foreign.

Why where out the springs in the magazines (the usual cause of feed jams) waiting for an attack that possibly could happen but in all probability won't. Greg: I love revolvers! Another great video. Just happen to be carrying one of my all time favorite revolvers in my collection. I am carrying a unique revolver with an interesting history. A S&W Victory model circa 1944. Well here is the story It went through WWII as you would expect. After the war it came back had the barrel cut down to 3" and the smooth walnut grips were expertly carved. I know the grips were done this way because they are numbered to the gun. All Victory models had the smooth walnut wood and these are just beautiful. Well this guy carried it as a backup revolver while on the Baltimore PD. I met him in the late 1970's when I was very new to the job with the NJ Attorneys Generals Office and needless to say I took a liking to his interesting revolver. Well he retired out a short time later and I retired some 20 years later after him from NJ. Well lets see, maybe 5 years after I retired I was looking on Guns America and found the revolver up for sale. I knew it was the gun especially because of the hand carved grips and I damn near fell off my chair. Well I called the gentlemen who listed the revolver now well into his 80's living in Florida and YES it was my old Brother in Blue from Baltimore. The revolver is a cherished piece with most of the bluing beautifully worn consistent with a revolver that was carried every day for many, many, many years. This Smith holds a special place in my collection. Greg, if you read this comment and I know sometimes you do I would love to send you a few pictures of my revolver. In closing, sure I carry semi auto's in 9mm and 45 ACP, but I think I walk just a little bit taller when I strap on one of my revolvers for the day. Hope all is well with you and Mr. Holster is in my prayers. Respectfully, Tom Z Retired LEO now enjoying retirement in North East PA.

I don't know. I like the Glock 22 and 19. The 22 was my last duty carry. But when I got back into firearms after a twelve year absence I gravitated back to revolvers. I still train with semi-autos, but prefer a revolver for concealed carry. It makes sense for concealability, safety, reliability and a simple battery of arms. From my study and experience, a self defense situation will be short, fast and at close quarters. A good snub meets those needs well.

I recently added a 4-inch model 66 to my stable of Smith revolvers, circa 1982, still with the pinned barrel but not a recessed cylinder. Super easy to shoot with 38+Ps, and not too awful bad with magnum loads. Been carrying it more so than my Glocks lately, and sure haven’t felt under-gunned, with a couple speed-loaders handy. One interesting detail about Snubbies is that if you get a defective cartridge that fires the primer only, but perhaps there is no powder charge (I've had commercial loads like this), the primer's blast will blow the bullet clear of a 2" barrel, whilst it would stick "in the craw" of a 4" automatic, making the next round rather interesting. I think I picked this tidbit up from Ed Lovett's book on Snubbies. --Old Guy

Long time listener, first time caller. I have numerous handguns, but after watching your videos I went out found myself a model 67, the stainless version of the model 15, and then a few weeks later found a model 10-6 heavy barrel that locks up like a bank vault. Then I found a model 39-2, for my Slamming Sammy 9mm auto. I am more than happy with my small collection of Smith and Wessons. Keep making videos about these "old" 38s.

I thoroughly enjoyed that. As a Fuddboomergrandpa I’ve reached the point in life that a aches and pains body likes lighter weight guns. A cluttered old mind likes simplicity. A 2” K frame is a perfect choice. I pocket carry nowadays and have a fair selection of pistols to choose from. Although at this time I carry a semi auto on a daily basis it is because of size and profile, not because it is a “ better “ gun. So on behalf of old codgers everywhere let me thank you for that shoulder roll and the tune you played with the glockenspiel😉

It has gotten to the point now, anything other than a hi-capacity 9mm is considered Fudd material. I recently reconnected with an old friend and we were talking back and forth awhile. He started talking about guns with me when found I was retired law enforcement. He mentioned he carries a Hellcat and I said that's a good gun, but I prefer to carry a revolver. He replied a 6 shot revolver doesn't cut it and capacity is where it's at. I told him the last time I drew my weapon was in 2007. I was at home sleeping and I was awakened by a burglar trying to pay my sliding glass doors off the tracks. It was around midnight I was single and living alone. I grabbed my nearby duty weapon a Glock 22 gen4, pointed it at him, and he ran faster than the 6 million dollar man. So I asked him in a civilian situation like I described (I was off duty) was a capacity of 15+1 shots needed? He stopped talking to me. I'm not advocating we all need to trash our semi-autos for revolvers, but the point is, I've always been more confident and proficient with revolvers. If I know I'm going to an area I would normally avoid but can not I will opt for one of my semi-autos. Waiting eagerly for a new video Greg.

Been tied up with work and winterizing my home here lately. I have to shake my head about a revolver not cutting it anymore. A weapon is a weapon. You learn to utilize different weapons for different situations. I train for citizen self defense these days, but I still train with an AR and a Glock 19, should, God forbid, this country keep declining into chaos.

i thought you were a boomer, as i thought we were around the same age .i was born in 1963 and 1964 was the last year of the boomers. i, too, love revolvers. my first handgun was a 6" security 6, which i still have. i usually carry a taurus 605 along with a 9mm auto as backup. i'm getting ready to walk up the hill and shoot an old h&r 922 at some steel, as i just took an inventory on my ammo and was a little disappointed in what i had in a few calibers. i wish i'd have had the foresight to stock up better when ammo was plentiful and cheap. hindsight is 20/20 though. when all this hysteria dies down and things get back to the new normal, i will slowly stock select ammo, mags, dry beans and rice, and other essentials to be able to assure my wife and little girl (who turned 10 right before i turned 57) survive in case of a real catastrophe. this has been an eye opener. thanks for another great video.

Actually I'm older. Some put the end of the boomers at 1960. But what does it really mean after all? I remember being told in the early eighties that we were part of the "me" generation or the "Y" generation as in "Why." I'm more of a tweener between the Baby Boomers and Generation X. As for ammo I'd stocked up on ammo when Walmart ended their sales, but then I slowly wound up shooting a lot of it up. I had an idea of how the current situation was going to go and I bought more ammo a couple of weeks ago. But I'm not real thrilled about going through another ammo drought like we did in 2015. The Taurus 605 as probably have guessed is one of my favorite snubs! Always good to hear from you!

I own a model 10 snub. Bought it new in 1981 for $185 at Warshal's sporting goods in downtown Seattle (a different world here back in those days). Carried it with snake loads a lot when I fished the Clearwater and Salmon rivers. Came out of it's holster as I tripped one day, the finish took a pretty good beating as it bounced down the bank. I'd like to send it to Smith for a rebluing one of these days.
How much capacity?
