I remember listening to this as I biked back from a friend’s house in Japan. Glory to God she later fell in love with Orthodoxy and converted. I know God sent her to me as I was isolated in Japan where Christian’s are scarce where I worked and she was a Pageau fan, how incredible?! Also I was due to come back home and had ordered my first lestovka from St. Elisabeth in Minsk to my USA home and hearing this podcast I was thinking “hey! Soon I’ll know what a lestovka feels like in my own hands for prayer.” It’s become my favorite type of prayer method tho shoelace too would do too, a lestovka not used is not good for the person who doesn’t use it. Lord have mercy! I don’t pray enough!

Fr. Dcn. Phillip was a great guest! It would be extremely interesting to hear him talk on the symbolism of the lestovka.

This was a very illuminating conversation. It was really great to learn these things about the Old Ritualists.

Thank you very interesting conversation. St Seraphim of Sarov used a lestovka for sure. Nice to get a closer look, they are pretty neat.

In all the icons I've seen he uses a regular prayer rope. Also didn't that particular prayer rope development after came to America? I'm new to orthodoxy, so I don't know much.

I uploaded a Russian movie called The Horde that fictionalizes the life of Saint Alexius and you can see him dressed as an old ritualist metropolitan, it's pretty cool.

Ha I was wondering who else might grab some Fools for Christ visuals and music. Father Turbo turned me on to them (him?). Got this video on my playlist. Keep up the content.

I have an Old Believers prayer book, and it is beneficial for me. I from Oregon, now living abroad, there is an Old Believer Community in Gervais, Oregon which is very near to Woodburn, Oregon. I believe Flat Earth. I do not go to an Old Believer Church.

@57:33 ouch, dont capitulate to the atheists. While I dont believe in a flat earth, orthodox theology demands geocentric, literal 7-day Creation. (I'm willing to defend this position)

The earth deffinelty revolves around the sun not the other way around. The orthodox faith is not fundamentalist, old believe communities and old calendarists who are in schism are, but they aren't orthodox. They are Judy another protestant denomination like the oritenals but neither broke off from the Latin church like the 15 protestants.
