Wonderful article. Also great to add a few more stops for my future cross-country “Tour of American Buildings and Food”!

Glad you enjoyed! If you end up out that way, I'd recommend stopping in Columbus for dinner. Schmidt's Sausage Haus or Thurman's would be my suggestions!

Great video! Got me interested in something I never even knew existed before. Wishing you more success. And can’t wait for hopefully a follow up eventually?

What about the original bathrooms downstairs? Are they still original, or did they get renovated like 5 times over the years?

The whole basement was in really poor condition. It had been pretty much gutted other than the safe. I'm not even sure if the original conditions are even thoroughly understood. My understanding is that the renovations will keep the locations of spaces the same, but with modern fixtures.

@@WTWarchitecture Oh yeah, that makes sense. I remember in the video that one of the major plans in the project was to expand the basement. Also, looks like some of the old beams had water damage to them. Must've been a flood at some point, and water got into the store.

@@WTWarchitecture That's a shame. My favorite part about old buildings is if they still have the original bathroom fixtures, especially the toilets.
